He's not testing us, that's kind of a stretch. Well, no, I didn't mean that. I just thought it was more than a coincidence that he stopped making TTK videos at the point where our knowledge of the game's mechanics end (we haven't the foggiest how sway works).

Actually, I'm pretty sure he put a hold on TTK because in addition to the Weapons of Modern Warfare videos he does, he's also been finishing the old Black Ops weapon guides before BO2 is released. If he has spare time he might do another TTK, but the other series are his priority right now.

So yeah, there's more to it than it seems =P

The sway variables have nothing to do with idle, they just control the movement of your gun when shifting your aim.
I think shellshock is the stun effect when an explosive doesn't kill you.

The ones that have "sway" in their name.

That's strange. When I set them to 0, there is much difference in the weapon sway (be it hip or ads). And in any case, he said "sway is simple", not idle sway is simple =P
There is also a Bobbing (or simply bob in the files) that will cause the gun to have zero wobbling when strafing ADSed (if the former value is set to zero).

I don't mean to toot my own horn here, but is there some way we can make sure this thread gets saved from drifting away? I mean, it wasn't exactly easy trying to decipher those variables and GunKick is a fairly important mechanic in MW3.

Ask Den to edit the "List of threads..." with a link to this one.

I did but he never responded . It's already there. Oh, whoops. I was looking for it under General since, strictly speaking, GunKick is part of every game in the series. I see it now under MW3 though, and I'm fine with that. Thank you, Den.

Am I out of line if I ask for this thread to be moved into "List of threads where a conclusion is reached?" No, you have earned it Agreed! Just come across this thread as my COD days are over, and am impressed by the solid work done here. I have 2 questions: 1/ Does GunKick affect where subsequent bullets go, or does the gun always recover from GunKick before the next round is fired?I need to be clear on this as the previous consensus was that the effect of GunKick in this respect could be ignored. 2/ My interpretation of the later posts in this thread is that Centerspeed acts differently immediately after the gun is fired than when the gun is recoverung from the recoil. Is this correct?I have no intention of altering my recoil plots, as I have lost interest in COD after the dogs dinner that was MW3 (only played 8 hours before getting sick of it). But I will add a warning that the plots may be slightly out and reference this thread.

1/ Does GunKick affect where subsequent bullets go, or does the gun always recover from GunKick before the next round is fired?
Highly dependent on the weapon. Most weapons have very little gunkick (like 15 or so) and always recenter before the next shot. However, some guns like most MW3 LMGs do not and thus having a huge impact on bullet accuracy.
2/ My interpretation of the later posts in this thread is that Centerspeed acts differently immediately after the gun is fired than when the gun is recoverung from the recoil. Is this correct?
Yes. Normal deceleration whilst viewkicking and 1/16th of the former value when recentering.
Just adding something: Gunkick seems to play a huge part in flinch; this explains why scoped-in weapons (or simply not adsing with regular sights weapons) seem to suffer less from flinching.

AFAIK, you can only change things if you are running a mod. That what worked for me anyway
