So, the steam summer sale is on, including every game made by valve for only 45 Euro, which is about 1.5x the current cost of MW3.

Will do bro. I can't play KF at the moment because my router sucks and I have to forward my ports every few weeks. My dad pretty much does everything with the router but he's always busy.

I am content in that there are no currently released games I'm interested in. Usually I get sucked into buying a few things during the summer sale (holiday sale too). The only thing I'd be slightly interested in is Spec Ops: The Line, and only to see if my decision to jump on the recent Amazon deal was a bad one. I guess I'm better off not knowing. Now if only Runic would get off their ass and give us Torchlight 2 already...

I'm thinking of buying ARMA to join the DayZ bandwagon and play some regular co-op missions. worth it?

ARMAII is worth buying for ARMAII. Yeah that's what I meant with "regular co-op" I'm buying it Other than that, not much of interest for me aside some tf2 junk. My wallet is relieved.

What I mean is DayZ wasn't all that interesting. Maybe later when it is more stable and fleshed out with more content. But right now you basically just wander around, stumbling over the many randomly generated stashes of items, eat food every now and then and easily outrun jittery and buggy zombies. With the massive influx of players due to DayZ and several sales (this sale being cheapest and apparently most receptive so far), lots of DayZ servers have become little more than deathmatch with lots of newbies.
The core game of ARMAII especially with some content mods, then making custom missions for yourself and friends is fantastic, albeit a bit obtuse for most.
By the by, there has yet to be anything I've seen worth getting in the sales (that I don't already have). Damn, I should have waited for now to buy Ys Origin.

the thing that annoys me most about dayz (asside from the massive influx of cod-kids that has caused the game to go from actual-human-based-kindof-coop to just deathmatch) is that one of the main selling points isn't really true: you don't get punished for dying. ok sure, you use your stuff. but even high-tech automatic military grade weaponry is so widespread and easily avaiable that all it really does is set you back for an hour or so.

Very much this. It basically goes nowhere, there's little in terms of progression (and because of that, little sense of loss when you die) - find a good gun, grab a few useful items, maybe fix up a vehicle and have a short joyride. However no matter what you "advance" to in terms of equipment, you're still just scavenging the same places over and over once you run low on food (which is everywhere along with weapons and gear). Usually the first building or barn I come across has a Shotgun, Crossbow, Enfield and/or Lever Action rifle and ample amounts of ammo sitting beside several cans of beans. Until a true sense of progression can be imparted, it isn't much to look at. I think one of the bigger weakness isn't that it is so easy to get stuff, but rather that it is so easy to get TO that stuff. As in the zombies are virtually harmless despite being sprinters. If they were perhaps more numerous (they literally spawn in a radius around each player and that number increases a bit if they cause a disturbance, but it is still a pretty low count) and swarmed areas with better stuff like military bases, they could be reduced to walking in all environments (not just indoors), and perhaps players could actually be made to get fatigued when running. Or something.

the entire ARMA series is fantastic. a quote of mine form an old thread, tilted 'newbie help'.
[destruction is Wicked Rad. battlefield is so sick it makes me cry. i love everything about that game. one day, COD, ARMA(with extreme realism like the ACE mod, where wind can have an effect on trajectories, for example, not just gravity), and BF will make love and give birth to The Best gosh darn golly gee whiz Game Ever.
EDIT: always forget about the BrotiusWordFilterOfHiliarity]
i still dream of this day..

I've watched quite a few videos on DayZ, and it just doesn't look that interesting. Theoretically, it'd be fun to mess around with some friends or maybe even random people, but all the other players just want to kill anyone they see: zombie or otherwise. Plus the zombies are so bugged I can't see the combat being enjoyable at all. They say they're aiming at making it a standalone game. Maybe I'll check it out then, but as is it just looks like a waste of time.

You know, I might actually not buy ARMA2. It's summer time, and ARMA 3 is practically around the corner (it's Q4 2012 right?)

last i heard early 2013, plus the usual delays that are to be expected. i'd say if you are even a little bit into simulations and military stuff, it's worth the buy.

I'm very much looking forward to ARMA 3.
Submarines alone sold me on it. I haven't played submarine sims since Silent Service. Such an untapped area for games, especially for multiplayer. Full scale naval battles online? C'mon.
Oh yeah, new bunch of sales.

I just got the two Ys games on sale today. Pretty awesome games. Also I got Saints Row 3, and I am having way too much fun with it. I know the comparison has been made a million times, but it's seriously GTA4 on crack. Literally the best way to describe it because of how similar they are.

I just got the two Ys games on sale today. Pretty awesome games, and some of the few that actually make boss fights epic, challenging, and fun at the same time. Also I got Saints Row 3, and I am having way too much fun with it. I know the comparison has been made a million times, but it's seriously GTA4 on crack. Literally the best way to describe it because of how similar they are. EDIT: How did this get here I am not good with computer.

If you guys don't have Red Faction Guerrilla, it's currently only 5 bucks right now (ending at 6pm Central). The destruction factor alone makes it worth 5 dollars.
