As you can probably guess this thread is about who on these boards is the plastic guitar god(or goddess)
Now of course I only mentioned guitar hero and I only mentioned plastic guitar but if anyone is more of a rockband player or a plastic drummer/vocalist feel free to chime in on this thread.
Shameless plug inbound
And my brother on drums(he's not on these forums)

We used to play Rockband back in the day when I lived in a house with 5 other twenty-somethings. But then time passed...
Rocksmith > Anything with a plastic guitar Being in a real band > Playing Rockband

What do real instruments have to do with rock band? That's like comparing cod to actually being in the military. Don't think of them as plastic guitars, think of them as plastic sticks with buttons that are used to destroy on screen circles/rectangles.
Mousey-I have actually made a few hundred dollars playing guitar hero.
p.s. I do actually play a real instrument, french horn swag yo.(ignore the horn vid on my channel it's lol fail)

Although Rocksmith *is* a video game so I think the comparison is appropriate. And instead of having a bunch of friends over to play cover songs on fake instruments, you can have a bunch of friends over to play cover songs on real instruments. It's more fun; trust me.

Well... since CoD doesn't have anything even slightly resembling realism... since, you know, you can take a 7,62mm round to the head and be fine 5 seconds later.

Dano-Cod has nothing to do with realism and neither do plastic guitar games. Repeat, they have nothing to do with real instruments. It's a stick with buttons, not a guitar simulator(I don't care what they try and market it as) Do you discredit ddr because it's not real dancing?(just like gh it has nothing to do with dancing and is merely a game based on hitting arrows)
Mousey-I know you were, my statement was supporting what you said.
I'm not trying to say real guitar or guitar hero is more fun. They have NOTHING to do with each other and are different types of fun. Saying that real guitar is more fun than gh so you shouldn't play gh is essentially the same as saying rollerblading is more fun than having a thumb war so you shouldn't have thumb wars.
Oh and yes rocksmith is a game but comparing rocksmith to gh is like comparing halo to street fighter. Two entirely separate genres.
Lastly, like I said before I play the french horn(which is WAY more similar to guitar than guitar hero is) and I know how much fun it is to make music/perform but it's an entirely different kind of fun than rhythm games.

I probably draw more similarities because I play guitar. Putting your left hand where it's supposed to be and strumming with your right hand is pretty similar whether you're doing it on a plastic guitar in guitar hero or doing it on a real guitar while following a tab in GuitarPro. I'm not saying there's a direct correlation between ability to play Guitar Hero and ability to play actual guitar, but there is some crossover between skillsets. Rockband does have a mode where you can play with a real guitar, also. And features mostly realistic drum parts (sans hi hat pedal) and keyboard parts (sans left hand .

I've actually played guitar hero with guitar playing friends who told me it was nothing like playing guitar; I can beat them at songs they can play on the real guitar. I haven't played a lot of Rock Band, but I was under the impression that it didn't support the double kick for the drums?

By default it doesn't support double bass but certain rockband network songs have it and with the right hardware you can have plastic double bass.

The ability to sight read is a more prevailing factor in Guitar Hero than actual guitar playing. Rockband supports the double kick if you buy another kick pedal.

To the OP, you win. But gimme an hour's practice and I'm pretty sure I could get around 95% on that. Actually.... I'll try to do that today. I don't have any way to record my TV but I'll take a picture
