It's so awesome. Use it with black hat or emp grenades you not only get more awareness but you can get tonnes of easy points hacking/ disabling stuff. Plus rerolling care packages is pretty cool.
People have been dissing emp grenades but I think they are as useful as black hats. They are a lot quicker at disabling stuff. And have larger range. Can just lob them across the map and instantly disable sentrys and guardians (worth like 125 points or something)
On a side note I tried to find info about emp grenades effect on AGRs. 1 grenade doesn't take them out. I assume 2 will but haven't tried and can't find info online.

So if you throw an emp at a claymore the claymore will explode?

I like engineer because I can offer to change a green guy's care package and steal it. I don't normally even use Engineer, but they don't know that

Noone uses claymores because they are such a high unlock...and there are better things to permanently unlock.

Yes, Engineer, EMP grenade and Blackhat PDA are awesome.
Specifically, I have not seen many people using EMP grenade, probably due to bad memories of the one in MW3. However, EMP grenade in BO2 is great:
1) It destroys all kinds of annoying things. E.g.: in a Dom game when you are rushing towards B, spam your EMP to destroy enemies TI/Trophy/Shock/Betty they are busy placing around the flag. 2) It blows away enemies hub and sight advantage (e.g: TF) 3) Although not as effective as stun/flash/shock, it does stun the enemy a bit (slight visual blurring), gives you a bit of edge during the gun fight. 4) You can have 2 5) Spam them can give you free assist points

The EMP effect lasts quite a while too. Good to know. The longer the effect is, the bigger chance that the user will be rewarded with free assist points :-)

not to mention the more useful hard wired becomes. Yeah. Hard Wired currently is at the very bottom of my list for perks. I see more and more people are using Tac Mask just to counter the annoying shock charges. In the same vein, as the player community begin to realize how useful EMP is, I can see Hard Wired used more.

Does the EMP provide any stun effect? The only effect I noticed upon being hit with one was merely visual.

Go back to Engineer: when using this perk consider putting CP on your scorestreak setup. Engineer let's you re-roll the dice for a possibly better choice.
Regarding hacking the enemy CP: do you have to be near the package to do it? How long does it take?
Trying to decide when to hack and when to hijack.

hijacking = hacking. Taking the care package booby traps it.
Same for engineer + black hat. Taking enemy carepackages with black hat with engineer on turns it into an explosive care package.
Edit: The bonus for using black hat is if you kill the guy that threw the CP you are pretty much guaranteed to steal/boody trap it. Here is why.
1: enemy teammates will need as much time as you in order to take it.
2. The enemy won't see you take (hack) the package. Therefore they will be more apt to try for it (and get you an explosive kill)
3 You can do it from behind cover. They might not even know it is being contested.

So when I have engineer, I can no longer steal enemies' CP for my personal use? What if I have blackhat but not engineer? Would blackhat speed up the process?

It does both. Think of it this way. You take whatever is in the package and then you stuff in a bunch of explsoives.
If you have blackhat but not engineer you just take the package.
Blackhat doesn't seem to speed up the process of "taking it," but it does mean you don't have to run to it. the ability to not have to run to it actually does save on time.
also I added some stuff to my last post.
also, under duress, I like to throw my carepackages into unreachable places....so me with my blackhat will be the only one able to take it (though I couldn't reroll it). I generally don't need to reroll...

So if the enemy BH+Eng your CP, what happens if you try to BH+Eng it back?

just my guessing, anyone do a test?

With Engineer, a booby-trapped package turns red, like other enemy equipment.
