(Note: this is an effort for a collaboration based map guide. All I am doing is to start the thread and include an overhead map with callouts. Hopefully other bros can chime in by posting their insights using the callouts, and organically grow this thread into a useful discussion). Hardpoint locations:

When playing Domination and TDM, I found myself strongly prefer the C side vs. A side. On the C-side, players can easily set up impenetrable defenses from RAMP to C-DOM to LOCKERS. For the opposite side on the other hand, there are many ways to seep through and flank.
Bros: do you feel the same way or this is just me?

I think the spawns are definitely imbalanced on this map. Put equal teams against each other, and C side will win every time. I can't think of a better map in this game to level up snipers though.

Definitely one of the most sniper-friendly maps. Drone, Turbine and Aftermath are also favorites of snipers, but in comparison Carrier offers the most opportunity for sniper kills due to its line-of-sights design and smaller size.

A comparison to MW3:Interchange is immediate (flat area with many not climbable obstacles) and I find BO2:Carrier much better as the center of the map is easily observable from any direction.
Carrier is sniper friendly … when the opponents stand still or camp. If they run a lot - snipers are easily flanked and killed fast. I'd say it is more LMG- than Sniper- friendly but all weapons work nice, even knifing.
One of my fav maps in BO2.

I don't like this map. The ramp is headgliter paradise. I find it really annoying. It's a particularly bad FFA map. It's hard to compete unless you want to play the spawn patrol game over in the A-Dom corner. And just in general I don't love the design of "throw a bunch of doo-doo in everyone's way". I do like how effective my Stealth Choppers and Warthogs are on this map... but man, the spawns are below average even for this game.

Any tips for getting out of A Dom spawn trap? I find that to be the biggest hassle because they always spawn you at Corner which is an easy position to suppress and choke if you're the opposition.

It is a boring map. Snipers always go on that ramp and if it's a team game you can flank it and get and easy triple. Slows the game down badly

On tdm snipers rule on this map. The most dominant position is the sniper ramp over by the downed jets. You can head glitch and strafe side to side. Counter snipers on the other team will have a hard time because the ramp is so wide and difficult to gauge where the sniper will peek out.
If you are counter sniping the ramp avoid the side opposite the huge tower. Snipers on the ramp can easily see you poke your head out because the only backdrop is clear sky and ocean. As a sniper you want to rush the downed jets and flank the ramp.

Not as good as. . . that one map in CoD4 which I've never played that had crap all over and was very flat and boxy and had missiles and was mostly grey and concrete.

The ramp can be penetrated by a slingshot. But not by my SMR. Or at the least; It's too hard to actually track and kill players on the ramp when all you can see is 3 pixels of their helmet.

Countdown has the same design philosophy, but was miles better. Assymertical clutter makes the maps unnecessarily chaotic. Run with an AR, and all of a sudden, out of nowhere, a shotgun to your face. He started running from the opposite side of the map and randomly did not appear in your sight because there's so much clutter that you only ever see 1/5th of the map in front of you that you would see without the clutter. Or rather; The clutter is not random, as it's OBVIOUSLY DESIGNED TO ruin sightlines. Not as bad as the boat's mast on Overflow, where the MAST of a boat blocks one of the best sightlines on the entire map. That 1 foot thick little piece of wood is PLACED DELIBERATELY to ruin a perfect sightline.

Because you could climb the missile-trucks. Two of them, and snipe from the top of them to ANYWHERE on the maps.
You could climb the truck near one flag and snipe on the entire map.
It had LONG sightlines.
You could set an airstrike to hit DOWN in the empty missile compartments... to the effect that the planes flew 10 feet above ground dropping bombs, scaring people brickless. Possibly even killing someone.
It was better than Carrier, at the very least.

It's hard to compete unless you want to play FFA properly, in which case it's actually quite enjoyable. I have no idea why you're so devoted to the idea that exploiting spawns is playing FFA properly. It's cheap, and it's boring. The spawn logic shouldn't be encouraging it. If they spawned on the opposite side of the map it would still be 'predicable' yet you'd actually have to move around the map and win gunfights.

I find the C flag side to have an insurmountable advantage in public games. The two cover pieces that overlook the B flag on the C side are a headglitcher paradise, one that you just can't outgun while in the plane. The A flag in general has limited spawn escape options, more or less two routes that diverge only after giving the opposition a clear shot at you. Another advantage of the C flag side is you can stay on the side of the crashed jet and attack anyone who enters B, and it's hard to get you unless they attack from the C side or come up the very exposed side near the "Planes."
As an SMG user, everything from "Lookout" to the C Flag over to the "Ramp" is a pretty good spot. I find the exit from "Lockers" towards the middle of the map is a fantastic patrol route, constantly you get the drop on foes leaving there.
