(Note: this is an effort for a collaboration based map guide. All I am doing is to start the thread and include an overhead map with callouts. Hopefully other bros can chime in by posting their insights using the callouts, and organically grow this thread into a useful discussion). Hardpoint locations:

This map has got to be the most favorite map of BO2. Base on my experience it is almost always voted for when it comes up. Just curious: why do people like it so much?
The biggest problem I have is the horrendous spawns on either the CHOPPER side or the POOL side. Players are spawned here even when there are clear line of sights from top BRIDGE / GYM, and are often instantly killed as a result.

Players are spawned here even when there are clear line of sights from top BRIDGE / GYM, and are often instantly killed as a result. The spawns are my favorite thing about it. They are very predictable compared to some of the other maps, and because they are so "generous" (they will spawn unless someone is looking directly at them) a smart player can get a better payoff for correct guesses than on many other maps. Killstreaks are very effective here as well, which is a hallmark of popular maps. Finally, the map is highly symmetrical. Some combination of these three things (generous spawns often a result of map size, killstreak effectiveness, and symmetry) makes for a popular map, and Hijacked has all three. As an aside, this sort of thing probably belongs on Hey, Guy. It really wants its own subforum to avoid clogging either, but that's not realistic.

I love this map too. It is like Nuketown but with flanking routes. There is nothing more satisfying than going through the Engine Room to come out behind the entire enemy team in domination.
The spawns on this map are terrible, I agree. It has happened that I spawned on top of a Shock Charge or in front of a Guardian. The spawns seem to be too unflexible.

The ENGINE ROOM flanking route and the TUB WEST flanking route are the best ways for a team to break out spawn traps, and nightmares for team in control. I like to throw Shock+Betty at the exits of ENGINE ROOM and they almost always give me free kills. For the purpose of completely blocking them, putting a Guardian at the exits can work even better. I thought players would wise up and blindly throw EMP grenades before coming out, but so far very few players have done that.

Just curious: why do people like it so much? Hijacked = my fav map in BO2, one of best COD maps overall IMO. Unused areas are arr Pool and Chopper where you can feel safe to some extent, central area is a combat field, where more concentration is required – I know what to expect depending on where I am, that is nice, no stupid mess, no idiots running/spawning from any direction, no useless areas in the middle of the map. Design: simple and elegant. All weapons friendly. Flanking is possible but as map is narrow and long it is less random: if someone flanked you he did it ON PURPOSE. Feels like “enhanced” COD4:Wetwork.

Now I have better understanding of why this map is being voted so much.
I don't have any issues with the map itself, it is the situation of being forced to play this map once every 3-4 games that I have issues with :-) I am a player who like variety and prefer to cycle through all maps in a not-too-uneven manner. Overplayed maps almost always cause me to develop a non-appreciative mindset against them.

There is a small air vent at the side of the centre Pool where a frag can be tossed to reach the hardpoint site below deck.

Feels like “enhanced” COD4:Wetwork. If someone comes behind you, they did it on purpose?!?!?!? So it didn't have anything to do with the spawns RANDOMLY changing for 3 seconds, spawning an enemy in your spawn before spawning more of your teammates there, or a person randomly not meeting any teammates going on either sides, and coming into your spawn, not facing any of your teammates there, rounding the corner and getting you in the back... Wet Works was far better in my opinion, because people could not RANDOMLY flank you. They could crawl behind cover, crouchwalk over to one of the sides and then flank you -- not just sprint on one side and suddenly be behind you and your teammates. Spawns are terrible. Enemies should NEVER be able to look around corners every 2 seconds and shoot you as you spawn. That is a hallmark of a broken spawn system. I have seen videos of people just walking back and forth, 2 feet each way, shooting 5-6 spawning players in a row in hardcore because the spawns are so carelessly placed. If anything, there should have been a larger helipad, and better cover on top of the helipad, and then the spawns should have been on top of that helipad, with good overview of the area in front of the spawn. On the opposite side, people should spawn more by the sea instead of in the open, easily targetable from people in the spawn-kill building.

As an aside, this sort of thing probably belongs on Hey, Guy. It really wants its own subforum to avoid clogging either, but that's not realistic. Agreed. With the stickies it kind of killed any discussion that was going on by moving it to the next page. Oh well. Yeah, should have done that. Hopefully people do go to 2nd and 3rd pages for "Hey Den" like me. If these map discussions don't turn into hot discussions, they'll get out of they way in a couple of days.

The Spawns on this map for FFA are stupid crazy... they make MW3's Dome look positively planned and well balanced.
It's not my favourite map, but I enjoy it

Uhh, yeah maybe planned so you can abuse them. That's hardly good design though. Let's face it, this is the popular idiot map of the game. Every moron votes for it because you are instantly back in the fight and you can spam anything and everything at all times to get a result.
It's kind of true that the flanking routes are better thought out and less random than a lot of the other maps, but the spawns and chaos make that mostly irrelevant.
Bad map.

Predictability means less randomness. Less randomness is always a good thing in any competitive pursuit. Exploitable spawn logic is not only a mark of a good map, it's practically a requirement.

I like it for it's lack of clutter. It's spawns are dreadful, that's speaking from someone who abuses them but you have to accept that on a small map.

It's on the wall of the tub facing B-dom. I find it more useful going the other way though, you can toss a frag directly onto B from below deck.

I like it for CTF, Dom and Demo. The rectangular nature of it and symmetrical designs lends itself well to gamemmodes where there are essentially two spawn points all the way across the map from each other. Add in the engine room flank, the walkway by Tub and funnelling effect of B-dom and it's a good map. However I despise TDM, KC and FFA. Neutral on how HQ and HP play and I don't play search so no opinion there.

In general, I don't like Hijacked all that much.
That said, I like it better now that I realize how much the map plays to an SMG class with a silencer and dexterity. All of the different ladders on the map allow you to haul ass to the two major sniper nests and let you come out of the below-deck areas like a goddamn whack a mole.
I realized that I had the tendency (like a lot of players) to visualize the side I most recently spawned on as "safe." Use that to your advantage. About a third of the time, I'm hauling ass through the below deck to get from "our" spawn to the other. So much of the time, you can catch people on the helicopter side in mid-sprint as they head for the big door right in front of them that they usually assume is clear.
I guess I like Hijacked more, now that I think about it, but it's a map that favors an extreme amount of paranoia.

The ENGINE ROOM flanking route and the TUB WEST flanking route are the best ways for a team to break out spawn traps, and nightmares for team in control. THIS. Tub west is often overlooked. I've also had good times using an overkill FAL/shotgun class on this map. Encounters are predictably either long or short, and you won't be outgunned either way. Clear out one interior area with the shotgun, take a few potshots from the 2d story with the FAL, drop down and repeat.

Sometimes, I don't play the game for DAYS because I'm afraid to be left alone on a boat, alone against a team of 6, all of them just waiting for me to spawn. Smiling. SMILING.

This map reminds me of Highrise from MW2. Flanking route underneath, a few buildings on the sides, and if successful, a deadly spawn trap with no escape.
You can shoot up at the B Flag from underneath the boat. I find this B Flag turns over more than most B Flags, but it usually takes at least two guys to do it - very little lone hero capping here. Really though, this map is so momentum based and so spawn trap based that you can forget you're playing Domination if you get B Flag and start pushing towards their side.
This is an SMG lover's map. 99% of the lines of sight are SMG friendly, with only the walkway on the side of the boat, and going from boat top to boat top, deviating. You can even spawn trap with a Skorpion from the top of the boat. Personally I like to avoid the middle of the map if I can help it, instead opting for going underneath, to the walkway on the side, and going through the sides of the middle as a last resort.
The ultimate goal should be to hold down the enemy's spawn via tactical loitering the narrow alleys coming from their spawn, and holding the enemy's building. I'm sure we've all seen or been in the ridiculous spawn trap where you spawn in the tiny buildings at the far ends of the boat and have no option at all of escape.

I hate Hijacked, third worst map ever behind BO1's Launch and Meltdown. Everyone that you run into is right in your face, it's a complete sprayfest. You also have those twats that love to sit on the elevated deck and kill you right as you spawn on either end.
It's also really ugly
