(Note: this is an effort for a collaboration based map guide. All I am doing is to start the thread and include an overhead map with callouts. Hopefully other bros can chime in by posting their insights using the callouts, and organically grow this thread into a useful discussion). Hardpoint locations:

I think that alley between Fountain and Stalls should have a name. It is such an important part of the map.

On this map, the area behind BOAT is a pretty good sound-whoring ambush spot. It is well hidden and can hear players either coming from the EAST ALLEY or from CONSTRUCTION. One good player has the ability to lock down the entire south side, a very important flanking route.

I don't like the east / west etc. callouts. I know already that I'm going to confuse their names constantly

Wait, what? It is possible to go into that building labeled Shop? If that isn't a mistake, I can not believe that I didn't find out about it until now.

From "Fountain" to "Stalls" - campers heaven.
Map designers placed many barrells / boxes one can camp behind showing only head.... Good job.

Yeah :-) These camp ers are easy to flank (through SPICES and/or BASKETS) if your team have the middle street controlled, but almost impossible to get to if not. Due to this design, flankers (who usually carry SMGs and Shotties which are completely incapable of killing Mind Bullets ers) usually avoid this route and choose EAST ALLEY instead. Which makes BOAT I mentioned earlier a great sound-whoring based choke point for ambushing them.

Fountain to Stalls is crazy hot most of the time. There's almost always someone in Baskets, and people like to come in from Spices. I wouldn't advance past those spots without checking them. And by checking, I mean shoot an RPG into them. Chucking grenades down that hallway, getting them to bank off the wall, is also frequently rewarded.
East side of Shop, looking south, has some good sight lines. Not as much traffic over there, though.
Dropping down the ladder on the east side of Construction usually gets the drop on people in Bank, from what I've seen.

"Top&Bottom" should be below SHOES, not SHOP.

Tough Domination match. The B Flag is probably the most exposed Flag in the whole game, and one player can get such a good sight he can wipe out an entire enemy team before they could retaliate. It's seriously better to go for A/C rather than B if the enemy has it.
As an SMG user, I sometimes loathe this map. Fountain to Stalls is headglitch city. The whole center of the map favors longer range weaponry, whether it's window-to-window fights or just fighting a user from afar. A Flag and C Flag have cover-to-cover fights controlling them. I like to stick to the Construction/Bank side, which allows good effective SMG range and exits to near the opponent's spawn, also within effective SMG range.

It is my impression that this is one of the most hated map in BO2 and the reasons listed above illustrate why very clearly.

I agree that Fountains-Stalls has a lot of traffic, I would argue that behind Bank, through Construction and into Fruit is even more occupied. btw I am playing Kill Confirmed 99% of the time.
As a side note, what is "Mind Bullets-ing"

Headglitc h without the space is a mind bullet. A headglitc h is where you stand behind cover so that only your helmet/head sticks out and you can shoot the opponent without reserve while they have to hit a speck. This happens because in CoD, the camera and subsequently your gun fire is focused from the tip of your head, not your eyes.

This map reminds me of Array ( link), because Array also had a death corridor close to spawn points where a lot of death occurred (sometimes up to a third). It still can be interesting in most game modes, however in Domination I think the B flag should be next to the boat, to make the death corridor less deadly and to give us a reason to play there.

To summarize the discussion, there are 3 major hot zones on this map:
1) Death triangle around the B flag: 3 vantage points (Baskets window, Shoes window, Construction) and Bank building are all highly contentious points. Among the vertices of the triangle, Baskets window has line of sights to both Shoes window and Construction (while the other two only has LOS to Baskets), making it both more advantageous and more dangerous.
2) Camper alley: Fountain to Stalls. 6 half-height covers (at least 4 of them are solid enough to be near bullet proof) provide irresistible attractions to head-glitchers with TF.
3) Backside of Construction: choke point for the popular flanking route, with easy access to Construction vantage point. Ideal for area patrollers & ambushers.
