haha yeaaass ties you suck so much at mid player: ALSO! Question: How often do you see a Troll with 30k gold get outcarried by Zeus... in 4v5? Answer: WHEN ZEUS HAZ BL00DSTONE In our last couple of teamfights, when the Big Z finally died he was dead for 0 seconds, and for his next death he was dead for... 3 seconds, and the last time he bought back to seal the deal on the win. Looking at the statz, I still don't know how we managed to win that match with a disconnected Luna and WK who wasn't good for anything but a 75% AoE slow every couple of minutes... especially when even /Rhasta/ got a BKB. What happened? (Spuuky's Zeus [which, I should add, was a random] happened.)

A few moar things learned while playing:
Dis ain't no place for a noob, but I'm starting to get the hang of it.
Most games snowball like ur mum's weight.
Riki is huge pain in the ass to play against.
Combining zues's UA with the refresher orb and aghanim's scepter is a great way to screw with the other team.

For the first like 200 hours, it's purely about getting the mechanical skills and basic ideas on how to play most of the hero pool. And even at that point, there's probably still heros that seem daunting to play as Then, in the next 300 to 500 hours, you actually little by little start to gain some overall game sense and start to gain a bit more knowledge of movement patterns (this lane is missing, so i probably should back the fuck up), how to exploit some heros weakness and slightly adjust item builds instead of doing the same build you subscribed to
and even then, when you're over 1000 hours played you're still fucking awful because >Game is hard
Just try to not stick to a single hero for now and try to get like 1 support you like to play, 1 carry, 1 mid hero etc. Makes you understand a bit more of what is expected out of you at what time etc. Unless its lich you can keep playing that motherfucker cus hes swell
Riki is actually a decent hero even at top lvls; that little smoke cloud is like a mini version of disruptors ult, he does a looot of damage with very little and like you said, he requires the enemy to keep investing in invis vision kinda like a Nyx. Nothing really snowballs as hard as a riki + wisp duo

dotabuff.com/heroes/impactAccording to the usage stats from here Riki has THE highest kill rate out of all the heros. He is slightly above average in most other catergories. He makes you buy wards just for him which slows your carry. Riki may not have the hands down biggest impact on games, but nevertheless makes me butthurt.

This is true. The most broken piece of shit to ever grace Dota 2, aka Earth Spirit (who still is a broken piece of shit by the way) was sitting at a 34% winrate. In semi to high lvl matches he was practically an instawin. Dude created so much space everyone on his team became astronauts
Still, I sympathize because even if you know how to play around a riki, youll still probably be stuck with people who dont until you improve alot

Riki is a tier 4 rare pick/ban this patch for comp, at least last time I checked.
Now Rikis in the Normal pub skill bracket can be annoying because Murphy's Law dictates that they'll always be fed by your teammates and will never be in the lane you expect them to be in even if you lane specifically to shut down the little purple goat guy. Fortunately Normal Rikis don't know how to play once stripped of their permanent invincibility by detection (the earlier the better). If you play him yourself you'll gain a heightened understanding of his weaknesses becuz he's fo-def not as ez 2 play as he looks when ur teammatez are feeding him relentlessly
Personally, I would MUCH rather play against Riki than play as Riki. BibleThump
P.S. Lich is swell
Also I am closing in on 500 games played and I am still the worst doto player not in Russia or Peru, so

Split pusher that scales incredibly well and is a bitch to shut down, and even then hè recovers rather easily. Also the best highgeound defender in the game
And shit out of luck, everyone wants to play tinker so likely the tinker on your side Will be last pick ancient jungling screwung all lanes over

Tinker can a truly hilarious base defender. Just get agh's scepter, spam heat seekers for all they are worth and refill mana at the fountain, use march of the machines to get rid of creeps. I completely turned a game around by doing this once. Would anyone care to enlighten me on why exactly bloodseeker is so unpopular in competitive matches? In pubs he is god-tier, in comp hes is shit-tier. What causes such a sharp divide in his usefulness between noobs and pros? I get how someone like riki might less useful in comp due to being countered, but bloodseeker? I'm aware of using TP's against rupture, but still, thats one less guaranteed person out of a gank and all bloodseeker needs is a skull basher/abyssal blade/ stunning teammate. tinker also has a really stupid voice On the subject of stupid voices...

Why not let everyone pick anyone so we can have 5v5 Earth Spirit or 5v5 Tinker only? I think that would be hilariously linear, one dimensional, stupid, and probably not viable.

Bloodseeker is legit though, situationally. He has seen some play and his winrate is pretty good (60%ish i think). He's viable because of that unbreakable 6 second silence. 120% extra damage means nothing when you completely Foxtrot over heros like Storm or Weaver.
You play him like a complete nuisance. By nature he's a pretty tanky hero so you go Blademail, Mjolnir, run into preferably with thirst stacks. gosh darn golly gee whized if they hit you, gosh darn golly gee whized if they dont
One thing that absolutely needs to be said is that currently every hero in dota is viable. Some still could use small buffs and some nerfs, sure, but you can make any hero work. The reason why we still dont see some heros is a combination of team preference, playstyles and situational use
The only heros I can think of that are in a kind of a bad spot are Necro (his skillset is decent but he has weird timings where hes effective. needs a lvl 6 ult buff), Tusk (hes in a weird spot. He used to be a supbar ganker, now he's a subpar ganker gone support. His utility is great after being buffed so many times, now his punch needs to be buffed IMO. its not great), Spirit Breaker (hes somewhat pickable but only on account of being the tankiest lvl 1 hero (by a big margain too) yet he doesnt really do anything pre lvl 6. Really unflexable hero too; he goes in, bashes (or with bad rng he doesnt, no PRNG) and ults but he cant really reset a fight if you got a bad charge off or something cause long cooldowns)
o and sniper needs a shrapnel buf

Tusks snowball was pretty silly when he was introduced in Dota 1. His snowball got like 100% movement speed per ally and it could chase indefinitely and his punch used to work a bit differently (small crit + magic damage on landing, instead of a flat crit like it is now). He was nerfed a few times but has gotten (and needs) buffs for 2 years now
Changing his punch back to this flat dmg number would be great because this would solve his item dependency. Makes him more viable as a support while not really hurting his mid potential for pubs that much since he could still snowball off it
but the frog thinks he's fine I think, because his buffs havent been substansial

tinker also has a really stupid voice March! MARCH!! Blyatcyka doesn't get any respect for some reason even though his kit is killer for facerolling pubs and make him the premier counterpick to fellow pubstomper Slark. He's difficult for many heroes to harass out of the lane (especially with a PMS) and can purge runes if you try to use one against him. My approach to 'cyka is to just stack AGI, get a BKB if needed, cast Rupture and Bloodrage yourself cause the hero needs depressingly little gold to hit for 450-500 damage with high attack speed and armor... and even less gold just to be a threat you can't ignore but will pay for focusing with the good ol' Blademail + Mjollnir combo. Yes Space Cow lolsux and yes Tinker is really good at stretching out a game that should have ended at 25-30 minutes for twice that length, but if you can delay his BoTs long enough he'll wind up sad

Four months ago, Puppey uncovered a secret. When in an old Ukranian bookstore, he found a used book with Hielo de la Rana" on the cover. When he opened it up... A bright light burst forward. Dendi sat at the computer fidgeting. He had celebrated 2014 new years with his babooshka days earlier, and still was hung over from all the bubbly Ukranian juice he drank. Puppey drafted Brewmaster for him again. He had done his best to win mid, but he couldn't face up to EGs drafts. Puppey no longer explained himself. KKy and Funn1k noticed something as wrong as well, but Xboct was clueless. They still won games, but it wasn't the same. Dendi sometimes read on the internet that NaVi was saving their strats for TI4. Well if they were, that was news to him! But Puppey had been withdrawn the past few months. He no longer made eye contact, and spent all his time in his room with this old musty book. He kept muttering to himself, and constantly looked tired.
With TI4 coming up, Xboct was trying to put the bottle away. Ever since his girl left him, Vodka was the only thing that dulled the pain. He didn't care about Dota2 anymore, or being rich. But his team was depending on him, and if he could just get to 8th place then at least he wouldn't have to worry for another year or two about money. He could spend all his time inside with the Vodka. But now he had to put it down. The past few weeks were a blur, but he remembered losing lots of Dota2 while hungover. He wasn't sure if it was because he wasn't playing as well, or NaVi was no longer drafting well. But one day he saw someone playing a lifestealer, and a wave of memories came back to him. "Was that.. Was that once me?" He thought to himself. No, it couldn't be. I only ever play Brewmaster and Doom.
Dendi was sitting on the toilet, while his teammates were in the hotel room in Seattle. The TI4 grand final was in 30 minutes. Somehow NaVi had made it to the final match, and was preparing to go up against IG. Dendi wanted to win, but knew he didn't have a chance. The previous game Puppey drafted Brewmaster, Razor, Skywrath Mage, Whisp, and at the last second had even drafted a bloodseeker. No one thought they would win that match. But halfway through RTZ felt really homesick, and paused the match to call his mom. By time he got off the phone with her it had been 75 minutes, and EG had forfeited the match. NaVi won by dumb luck. Dendi felt sick. He wanted to start a new life in America, and he needed this money. But Puppey hadn't slept in three days, and just kept muttering to himself. He left the bathroom and saw Xboct crying with a mixture of vodka and throwup on his chest. He pulled him up, and woke Puppey who was sleeping on the floor. They didn't need to win, just play. Second place was worth something. And no one would say that Dendi lost mid, even if NaVi lost.
KKY walked on the stage at Key Arena. He glanced at Dendi, who looked depressed. IG was fresh and crisp, and ready to play. Xboct was still drunk, and Puppey falling asleep on the computer. Whatever miracle had brought them this far seemed finished. Second wouldn't be so bad, but after all the sweat and tears he had put into this game it hurt to see his teammates sick and depressed. But dota would do that to a man. The body can only take so much of D I G I T A L S P O R T S.
As they sat down, they briefly heard Tobi shouting, before the soundproof door was closed. The draft was beginning. Suddenly Puppey's eyes looked milky white, and he was fully awake. This change in temperament seemed to sober up Xboct. Dendi sat staring at the screen, anticipating a failed draft. Puppey banned Antimage and Spirit breaker -- was he even trying anymore? Over the next four turns he drafted Keeper of the Light, Crystal Maiden, and Chen. Dendi tried to say something, but Puppey was muttering these strange sounds to himself. Suddenly Dendi realized he was born for victory. It had never been so clear. Out in the crowd of Key Arena everyone was confused, was Puppey throwing the game? But the crowd noticed that half the crowd had become dead silent, and their eyes began glowing blue. "YOUR TURN TO PICK". Puppey drafted Omniknight. Suddenly one viewer began chanting "NA NA NA." Soon every Navi fan was chanting "NA NA NA TUS TUS TUS". Others began hooting and screaming. One teenager wearing a NaVi hoodie took his pants off and began shitting on the ground screaming. Some of the Navi Fans kept chanting, but others were stripping naked and screaming. For the fifth pick Navi chose blank.
There was no fifth hero. Only four heroes. IG was not aware of what was going on outside, but had drafted a strong draft built around tanky cores like Doom and Dragon Knight. When the game began KOTL, Omninkgiht, and Chen each walked to the Roshan pit and began chanting. Crystal Maiden was sacrificed to Roshan. Each hero then began to disintegrate, and their essence entered Roshan. What many people do not know, is that Roshan was a fallen angel who was turned evil. But the pureness of Kotl Chen and Omniknight restored his soul. Roshan became a massive winged angel, with a glowing titanium sword three times his size. Kinda like the Final Fantasy sword-- you know-- the big awesome one-- yeah that sword, Foxtroting sick.
IG began to sob and beg for mercy. Puppey walked into their booth and gave them the gift of a quick death. With a small handwave their souls left their bodies. Puppey then walked into the center of Key Arena, where a mass of chanting and sweating screaming Navi Fans were working themselves into a frenzy to glimpse their lord. Puppey looked at them all, his liquid milky blue eyes radiating light. No one said a word for what felt like an hour.
He finally opened his mouth and said: "I didn't want to give away this draft in the qualifiers, otherwise they would have banned the holy trinity of heroes. I was saving my strats for TI4"
He then looked at the littlest Navi fan and gave a wink. The crowd went wild.

I'd hate to imagine what its like to be stuck in low priority. People are bad enough as they are in regular pubs. I just had this gyro in our team the other day that went mid when there was another guy already there and did nothing but troll. We only won because we had a super farmed alchemist.
To update progress, I think I found my place with ursa. I always like to go rambo, which I know is something pros don't advise, but with ursa, you got a fair shot of pulling off a rampage if you got aegis and you are farmed. Maybe get a blink for kiters like viper/drow. My win rate so far is 62.90%, not bad for someone who is total noob to mobas and only plays solo right? My name is darkspirit96 if you want to check out my progress.
