This is the best looking game I've ever seen. I've never been that BLOWN AWAY by an entire game before, never mind a trailer. Wow.

The clip of him falling down in the hospital was in-game too.

That's a good thing. MGS4 wasn't a game--it was a movie with limited interaction.

In terms of a video game, it's well up there. The ending makes me tear up a little every time.

.... That was absolutely orgasmic... god I cannot wait for this game to come out...
p.s. metal gear solid wouldn't be half the game without the cut scenes and the vast story line. It makes the entire thing an experience all together.

I'm interested in seeing which characters return. Ocelot and psycho mantis seem to coming back. Hopefully they might bring in gray fox or one of the young snakes.
Also, its going to be interesting to how they are going to bridge the good big boss in mgs3 and peace walker with the bad one in the MSX games.

Pretty sure they're bringing back The Pain from MGS3. That's what it looks like.

p.s. metal gear solid wouldn't be half the game without the cut scenes and the vast story line. It makes the entire thing an experience all together. Some people like it I'm sure, but there may have been some loud vocalizations on my part when the game stuffs itself for no discernable reason. Why did snake and medic discuss godzilla? Why is there a love scene under the waterfall? I GET KOJIMA OCELOT CAN TWIRL GUNS NOW MAKE HIM FU CKING STOP ALREADY. There are at least ten times where snake is effectively dead but saved only by the fact that someone decided to give a speech instead of blowing his brains out. Not that I want the game to end like that but they seem to reaaallly like putting him in those scenarios which only says to me that gru is full of complete imbiciles. THERE ARE PRESSING MATTERS AT STAKE AND THERE ARE STILL UNSNAPPED NECKS. It's bacially a B movie. Sure a lot of games don't have great stories but nobody else (aside from jrpgs I guess) shove it down your throat so much either. EDIT: Also don't get me wrong I liked the game, they just kept me from playing a lot. DoubleEdit: Also forgive me if I missed this but did they ever explain why Volgin can shoot thunder from his hands? 1.>Snake and Dr. Clark (a.k.a. paramedic) discuss godzilla because paramedic is supposed to be a blabber mouth. As you play the game Kojima wants you to get the feeling that she is the friend you might not always want to directly approach for something cuz she never shuts up. 2.>Ocelot (who is The Boss's son and also a triple agent for the CIA director, later to become a founding member of The Patriots) and Tatyana/Eva had been charged with Snake's safety by The Boss. This was revealed in Peace Walker (explaining why The Boss got mad when Ocelot shot out Snake's eye on accident). 3.>Volgin can shoot lightning (thunder is only sound - shame on you, you're gonna be an engineer) because his body carries a charge of 10,000 volts. It's explained in the game itself. @bmac - feeling is mutual bro. Edit - This game is set after MGS3, The Pain is dead. He exploded and hornets swarmed out of his body remember? Double Edit - Oh, and I forgot to mention, David Hayter is no longer voicing Snake!! This was confirmed by Kojima recently. He want's this game to be a new start in the series and want's this reflected in the voice actor as well. There is currently speculation of either a New Snake being involved or a young Solid Snake.

1.>Snake and Dr. Clark (a.k.a. paramedic) discuss godzilla because paramedic is supposed to be a blabber mouth. As you play the game Kojima wants you to get the feeling that she is the friend you might not always want to directly approach for something cuz she never shuts up. But why?! What does that add to anything? Character development is one thing, but in a videogame usually developers make some effort to minimize the stuff that directly detracts from the gameplay. Again don't get me wrong I liked the game, but all that taught me was how to press all the buttons on the controller until I could fast forward. Okayyyy I can accept that.... but then why did Ocelot chase down their plane at the end and shoot out one of the engines in an area that was about to get freaking bombed? I know but the word thunder sounds cooler. and that still doesn't explain anything. Most people who have 10k Volts running through them tend to die. 1.> Because, character development aside, the game is supposed be an experience entirely. When you initially meet her, you like her, but as time goes on you're supposed to be like "oh no.. not her again". Eva and Ocelot plot her death 30 years later. The way things develop, you'll be left in a conundrum whether or not to feel sympathy for her. 2.> To steal Eva's half of the philosophers Legacy. Also, to try and hint to snake that he was The Boss's son (he reveals his real name to him). Idk how many times you played the game over, but no matter which revolver you choose in the end, neither option turns out to be lethal. At the end of the credits, he has a conversation with the director of the CIA. Idk if you played portable ops, but at the end of portable ops, he kills the director of the CIA, claims the entire half of the legacy and joins Zero as a founding member of the patriot on the condition that Big Boss also be made to join. He is actually a good guy who doubles as a bad guy the entire time. His truth is revealed after he dies in MGS4. Kinda like the dark arts professor in Harry Potter. 3.>Volts cannot run.... Current runs... anyways, let's not forget this is a video game. They are all supposedly extraordinary people. Volgin is the GRU commander because of his abilities. I really think you should play Portable Ops and Peace Walker. Not only will it explain the story better to you, you'll like the fact that there aren't as many cutscenes... Edit - oh and one more thing, If you call Paramedic directly after the Ocelot fight on the cliffs, that's when you find out he is the boss's son. Paramedic tells you how he was born in the middle of a battle field, cut out of his mothers womb and hints that the mom was a legendary soldier.

Job well done. Supernatural/extraordinary elements in the game weren't as heavy up until mgs3. In earlier games, at least everything got explained in the end(how their abilities became possible) but MGS3, you just have to accept some things as supernatural. In MGS1 they had psycho mantis (who I believe you see in this trailer, the dude with the gas mask). He was Foxhounds resident Psychic. I'm guessing they'll show how he was recruited in this game. They also had gray fox/cyborg ninja, but his back story has already been revealed in portable ops. In MGS2 they had Vamp and Fortune. Both seemed unreal in the game itself but Fortune's secret(an EMF device and her heart being on the right side) is revealed at the end and Vamp's is revealed in MGS4 (insert NANOMACHINES here). In MGS3 on the other hand... the entire cobra unit, you simply had to accept were extra ordinary gentlemen. The Pain could talk to flys, the Fear was half human-half spider with poisoned arrows stored inside his body. The End(my favorite boss fight ever) was dead, he was saving whatever life he had left for one last fight (and could talk to the forest). The Fury was possibly the worst boss(also gave you the worst camo). The only cool thing about him was that flying fire face when he died. And then of course.. who can forget The Sorrow... I felt like a champ when I figured out how to beat him.... Edit - Oh wait, I forgot one.. the best boss in MGS3.. hands down.. The Ladder...

That's because it's not a shooter at all. Its "Tactical Espionage Action". Have you tried shadow of the colossus?

I have no idea what was up with the ladder though. I really hope it was just some inside joke or something... That sad moment when you roll over the fence on the top of the ladder and expect a super cool camera-from-above-drop but instead the camera remains up there and after you die you have to climb the whole thing again D:

I think the ladder was put in because they were like "oh we have this cool song, where should we put it in at? How about a 15 minute climb up a ladder? Ok!"

I understand why The Ladder was there.. you crawled through a secret tunnel into a heavily guarded fortress up on a mountain. You now have to climb the mountain. I just don't get why they took it so literally and actually made you climb. Like mouse said, it must be an inside joke.

Still no cardboard boxes. At least the extended trailer mentioned Metal Gears.
