I think the antagonist needed more indicators that she was, in fact, the villain of the show. Seriously, she enters the show by stealing something from the main character, treats everyone around her like garbage for no apparent reason, somehow has the time and know-how to separate 5 friends from each other. Maybe the fact that she turns into a demon and pulls out this ability to brain-wash everyone into following her command might get the message through! As if that wasn't enough of a bint-slap to the face the Twilight randomly pulls a deus-ex Machina on the villain after beating her silly at her own game. "Hey, you got my crown... BUT YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE POWER; GG." What the hell? I kind of wanted to see Sunset take the fight to Equestria... but okay, this works... actually no it doesn't. Then there's the shottily pieced plot, the ridiculous amounts of fan-service from the show, and the lack of dinosaurs that really teed me off. Anyways, that's what happens when I put this movie side-by-side to a Pixar movie. It's not going to convince a non-brony into liking the show, but for what it was it was decent.

I read that whole thing.

I used 404040 to make it faintly visible but 343434 is the background colour. I still stand by my words, they played this one way too safe. The cheesiness may not have played to my tastes very well, but I felt like they just didn't follow through with it very well because there wasn't a lot of humour to back it up. The scene with the CMC watching their own music video and Trixie were just pure fan service. If I wasn't familiar with the TV series wouldn't even detect that as an attempt at humour if the person watching the movie By the end I secretly wanted Hasbro to just not have the MLP license anymore.
Also I am secretly psyched for the reboot of Sailor Moon.

Since the movie is 72 minutes long, shouldn't that mean Derpy needs to appear thrice?

I've still not seen Equestria Girls yet >__>
It didn't show in the UK and the only copy I can find online is a shitty theatre recording with a camera. Unless someone somehow uploads a high-quality version soon, I guess I'm just waiting for it to air on The HUB 1st September so someone can record that and upload it. Because, again, The HUB doesn't exist in the UK so I have to watch it online.

primewire (dot) ag; that might work. Oh, thank you very much. I didn't expect a link, or a decent-ish copy once I followed the link. I'll be busy for the next hour or so.

Okay, I've just watched Equestria Girls. Obviously when compared to other movies it isn't all that great; but in terms of MLP and things like references, gags, etc it was really funny and I enjoyed watching it. Some of the gags were actually pretty hilarious.
One thing that did bother me though: why the hell does every girl in that school need to wear thigh-high boots and have their skirts pulled-up high? I don't know, I just thought the characters were a little too sexualised at times... I kinda felt weird watching it at those points.

Boots and skirts are easier to draw than sneakers and pants.

I just thought the characters were a little too sexualised at times... I kinda felt aroused watching it at those points. There we go. "Aroused" wasn't the term I was looking for... But I can assure you that I wasn't turned on by Equestria Girls. I guess "sexualised" makes it sound exaggerated, but I didn't know what other word to use at ~2am. Maybe it's different in America but in the UK thigh-high boots are reeeeeally associated with emphasising looking sexy. As in, you won't see anyone wearing thigh-high boots around town because they're worn for clubbing or partying when women want everyone to look at them. I didn't find it offensive or anything, it was just kinda weird that all these ~16-year-old girls were all dressed like that at school. Also, I imagined Rainbow Dash would hate wearing skirts. And maybe at least some of the girls in that school would enjoy wearing jeans or something other than skirts. Man... I should have expected someone to be butt-hurt by all this. Like I said, I didn't find it offensive or anything, it was just a little weird that school-girls were all dressed WAAAY differently to the girls at say my school. I see where the article is coming from, but I wouldn't consider myself in agreement with it.

It has nothing to do with Equestria Girls or the topic at hand; which is Equestria girls. So no; not really.
