make a house in a mushroom biome that's on the surface so you gotta get mushroom seeds So is it possible to turn a certain area of the map into a mushroom biome if I have enough mushroom blocks in it? EDIT: Never mind; I placed ~120 blocks of mud into the sky and planted some mushroom seeds. Truffle came around in no time after that. Apparantly that spear he sells is ridiculously good. Not only can it hit a target multiple times in one stab, but it can phase through walls. I combined this with a pair of bananarangs I found and it outright trumps my original setup againt non-boss-like enemies.

So... is it possible to kill the Twins/Skeletron Prime/Plantera without a grav potion/minishark?

"What's that? You want to fight along the border between two biomes? Haha, just in time! I figured out what to write on your next tombstone!"

By the way, the beta for Starbound is due for the 4th of December if you have pre-ordered. From what I understand, you can still get access to the beta even if you pre-order it now (or during the beta). Pre-order is 15 dollars and it's supposed to come to steam eventually (or soon) Starbound is essentially Terraria 2.0 and supposedly on a much bigger scale, so it's definitely I look forward to playstarbound.com/Beta Faq

If you're a softcore character you can get a guaranteed kill on Plantera by luring him to the surface and to your spawn point and let him spawn kill you. After 100+ deaths you can wittle him down to death if you have a good melee weapon, Nimbus rod, or a harp.

If you have an early game character and are using an item that has nothing but negative effects there's a an exploit to get around that. Sell the item and buy it back; you'll have a stock item in the end. This exploit can be used to take some extra time out to reforge items with unwanted bonuses for a slightly cheaper price, and since reforging can chew through your money pretty fast a few saved gold coins can make all the difference.
Also the Star, Heart, Slime, and Bomb statues are probably the only ones worth collecting out there. Some wire, a 1-second timer, and an enclosed space are all you really need. Beyond that there's not many incentives to keep any other statue.
If you sell everything you don't really need you can boil everything down to four chests to keep your stuff in. Metal bars/gems/tools/summoning items, potions/ingredients, extra armor and equipment, extra weapons/ammo. In theory it's plausible to compress everything down to two chests if you sell EVERYTHING you either need or are unlikely to ever need.
I often pave the entire underworld with extra stone/mud bricks so I don't have to go through hell and high water to find lava immunity while fighting the Wall of Flesh. Speaking of which, if you find a spellbook named 'Water Bolt' that lets you fire slow-moving projectiles that bounce of surfaces, you can use that to bank bolts off the ceiling of the underworld and cheese the WoF with relative ease. A Space Gun and Meteor is also helpful.
When taking on the dungeon before hardmode I find it ridiculously efficient to just use a Jungle Chakram to push away enemies, and the space gun for long-range precision and LoE damage. Grappling to a wall and gunning down every poor soul below is not a recommended tactic simply because of how fast enemies spawn in the dungeon. In hardmode the Jungle temple Golem boss can drop a magic hatchet that'll prove invaluable against hard-mode enemies in the dungeon. Combined with a Chlorophyte Saber/Mushroom Spear and a good magic weapon your chances of being mauled alive are reduced.
Skeletron Prime is easy to defeat when you have a pair of wings and a megashark with any special ammo type. The Twins aren't that bad when you have megashark and a lot of space to run along; gravity potions help a lot. I have no idea how to beat Plantera legit- it seems that a megashark and a lot of terra-forming are a must. Besides that I usually get owned by the time the pink spore balls come out.

My previous play session in a nutshell "Hey Sweetwater I see you have a Cobalt Sword and less-than-favourable gear going into hardmode- let's spawn the Twins when you get back to the surface." "Well it's a good thing I'm a softcore character. Suck it" "Oh really? Well I see you have a house in a nearby surface mushroom biome you created yourself. Let's fill that up with a dryad, shall we?" "Yeah, well I'm building a second house in there." "Oh. Well... say hi to Truffle." "Hi Truffle! You're going to give me the best non-legendary weapon in the game for only 30 gold? You're such a dearie!" "Wait, WHAT?! You're not supposed to get that weapon so soon! Stop! Don't reforge- you got a Demonic Spear on the first try?! God dammit" "AHAHAHA! They have nothing but their ANGER!"

Due to a glitch with the 'quick-stack' feature in the latest patch of Terraria players can lose a lot of items by quick-stacking their money. You might lose 14 platinum coins and end up short-handed when you try to reforge items.

Never mind, 1.2.3.1 fixed that and a bunch of other things.

Apparently in 1.2.3 the Mushroom Spear can only be bought from Truffle after defeating all three mechanical bosses. Defeating the Eater of Worlds will be more difficult... as in you need a killbox and a decent hardmode sword.
