What music does everyone listen to? I've been into dubstep for about the past 2-3 years. First,a remix of that song from Black Ops 2 which Skrillex finally released like yesterday (but still no official release on the original). And here are a few of my other favorites for various reasons: MitiS - Open WindowTut Tut Child - HummingbirdBrand New - Daisy (Adventure Club Remix)I only wish that there were more dubstep maps to play on Osu!, which, by the way, does anyone else play? LastFM says my most listened to artists are Dubba Jonny, Skrillex, Rusko, Flux Pavilion, Bassnectar, and Tristam. Some of them are just because of one or two songs I'll find that I really like and listen to on repeat for like a day though.

these are just a few that I've been listening to lately The Cosmic Dead - The Spaceman Pharaoh Overlord - Skyline Earthless - Lost in the Cold Sun
some more groups/people that I like are: Mux Mool, Black Sabbath, Flight Distance, Eyedea, Aesop Rock, el-p, Genelec & Memphis Reigns, Kadavar, the Weathermen, Uncle Acid and the deadbeats. I mainly like rap and rock, but I used to mainly listen to electronic music, but now only listen to it every now and then

Oh Man what a huge question. I like a very wide range from rock like Led Zeppelin , folk through trippy hip hop like DJ Krush into way out there electronica like Portishead and The Future Sound of London, GAS, and a lot of Ambient like Brian Eno, The Orb, KLF, SolarFields etc. Jazzy funky rappy like Gil Scott Heron and the sorts of music from 70's blaxploitation movies. Come to think of it, it changes on a weekly basis

So... Eminem's "Stan" has a sequel in his new album. It's really good - last 2 minutes are ridiculous.

Alright, this is gonna be a long post. Like mousey's, but better. Maybe. She's got some good tastes, especially for a rodent. I'm gonna base mine off of the instruments in the bands, because I'm weird.
Hendrix changed the way guitar was thought of in it's most basic form. Before, the hardest rock you had on electric guitar was the Beatles, who changed music just as much as Hendrix. Now, he blazes onto the scene in 1967 at the Monterey Pop Festival, and music was changed forever. Guitarists were thought of in a whole new light. To add onto Hendrix's pure musical talent, he knew how to captivate an audience. His live shows were arguably better than his studio albums, even though everyone knew he was hopped up on all sorts of drugs. Yet, he was still able to play guitar better than anyone has before or since.
Speaking of guitarists, Stevie Ray Vaughan is arguably just as talented as Hendrix.
More blues-oriented, SRV was hugely influential in the blues resurgence of the 80's. Too bad he perished in a helicopter accident in the early 90's. Amazing guitarist. Played with Albert King, Clapton, Bowie, you name it.
On to singers/frontmen.
There's no doubting that Freddie Mercury is the greatest singer and frontman of all time. What I linked is the single greatest musical performance, ever. Freddie takes a crowd that knows Bohemian Rhapsody, and gets the entire crowd to dance to the music video for Radio Gaga, which very few people knew at the time. Not to mention he has a 4 octave vocal range, and most definitely one of, if not the single greatest singing voice of all time.
Now, I know Led Zeppelin is one of those bands where every member is great at what they do. Jimmy Page, one of the best guitarists of all time. John Bonham, one of the best drummers. John Paul Jones, one of the best bassists. And Robert Plant is one of the best frontmen AND singers of all time. His voice fits perfectly into the songs of Led Zeppelin. Nobody else would have been able to fit. I'm willing to bet if you put Freddie Mercury into Led Zeppelin instead of Robert Plant, he would have done well, but it would have been a different version of Zeppelin, one that would have most likely been worse.
Now, my personal favorite band of all time. The Police were part of the British invasion of the late 70's/early 80's. Too bad they broke up at the height of their popularity. Stewart Copeland is an amazing drummer, even though this video doesn't show it off too much. And Sting's success post-Police years show how great of a songwriter and performer he is.
Drummers:
Neil Peart is amazing. Even at his age, he is still able to do things like this. His coordination is impeccable, as his taste and feel for the rhythm. It boggles my mind how this is done at such a perfect beat, at a live show nonetheless.
This shows off Stewart Copeland's drumming skills a bit more. Note the message on his drums, directed at Sting: "Fuck off you cunt."
I mentioned John Bonham in here before, and goddamn does he have skills. Those trees he uses as drumsticks gives a heavy sound never repeated by anyone, and when he uses his bare hands it makes an even more unique sound.
Bassists:
Geddy Lee is just too goddamn good. Not to mention his voice is really, really high. Don't know how he does it.
Sting, again.
John Paul Jones, again.
Now to piss mousey off with what I'm currently listening to:

If it's alternative rock I'll listen to it, especially 90s alt rock. Siamese Dream (Smashing Pumpkins album), anything Nirvana and the Pixies get the most play time, but anything alt rock, like Foo Fighters, Simple Minds, INXS, Silverchair, RHCP is something I'll by and large like. Then I have a soft spot for pop artists like Lady Gaga, Lily Allen, Coldplay (they are alt rock who heavily pander to popular music audiences, which isn't a bad thing). I also like Neil Young, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, you know the standard rock roster. Then there's Aussie pub rock. AC DC are the kings here, but here are a few bands I'll rattle off: Choirboys, Cold Chisel, The Angels, The Living End, The Cockroaches (aka the wiggles), Icehouse, Australian Crawl, and many many more. Aussie pub rock is the shit btw.

Rock, but mostly older stuff. Who, Beatles, Stones, Floyd etc...
Metal, but mostly older stuff or the speed/thrash type. Sabbath, Priest, Anthrax etc
Punk to some extent and a little bit of Ska-Punk and Pop Punk. Reel Big Fish, Blink 182, Sum 41, Bad Religion, NOFX etc...
Whatever Billy Joel and Elton John are
Country, but almost exclusively Johnny Cash
Obviously some Pop, but mostly 80s and 90s pop.
Rap, but mostly older stuff and also Eminem
No love for wubwubwub, a little for other electronica
Shout out to Nerdcore, because nerd rap is hilariously awesome.
So in short, I'm stuck in the past

What's with all the fedora hate? When I think of a fedora, I think of Indiana Jones. Buncha idiots think short brimmed trilbies are the same thing as fedoras worn by the sharp dressers of the silver screen. "Fedora" stuck with both hipsters and the people who hate them for wearing them. Nobody today should be wearing either unless he is the classiest son of a bitch in the world and has a well tailored suit to match. Or on safari. The Trilby is the headwear of hipster douchebags. The Fedora remains untainted.
