The assignments are kinda buggy/picky at the moment, but they can be completed more or less. The ribbons you can do whenever, but the rest have to be done in 1 round. Even after you complete an assignment, it will reset for the next match. I haven't tried removing one of the weapons yet because I'm afraid of losing them (they don't appear in Battlelog fyi, not even for stats). I assume you can complete them multiple times if you want easy points or something. But on to the nitty gritty...The stats aren't up on Symthic yet, so I can only go by personal experience.
L85 is decent, seems to have mostly vertical recoil. Not great, not bad, just there. MTAR is amazing, and feels even better than in BF3. The irons are fantastic too. RPK-74 feels like it has the 34-25 damage model. I really really hope so. It's also pretty accurate. L96 is a bolt, not much to say. It looks and sounds nice, so there's that. Don't have the MP7 yet, but I don't want to attempt it with only 4 slots available.
Go ahead and give the assignments a shot. With the way they're working at the moment, I'm not convinced we'll be able to keep the weapons until the assignments are released for real. You never know though, and it can't hurt to try.
