I don't see any half-swording, just slow LARP swinging and hollywood sword clashing.

The "innovative" part of the first person melee combat is more about the physics than the techniques I suppose. At least from what they've shown.

Looks like it's achieved its funding objective already.
Well, that was fast.
I still have great hope for this: "Our combat mechanics are the most challenging feature of our game. They’re based on actual 15th century techniques and designed in cooperation with medieval martial arts experts to be as authentic as possible. The controls are as intuitive as in first-person shooters and, thanks to a few tricks, we have a large amount of different moves and combos. On top of that, the whole thing is based on real-time physics and inverse kinematics, so when you hit something, your hands and weapon, not just your target, react accordingly, which is something that was not possible on last-gen hardware." Let's see if they fulfill this promise.
Edit: This doesn't seem to be a good sign, though: "the longsword is strong, but slow" Why slow? Longsword is the most ubiquitous part of Renaissance Martial Arts, and only weighs about 7 pounds max.

saw this on reddit and posting it here even if its only kind of relevant kingdomcomerpg.com/?p=62dev blog post. i thought it was interesting and makes him sound really passionate about this stuff. Wow, great read. Yeah that's doo doo, who wants corporate culture like that? I think he attacks the source here: "The results are obvious. You have a task for one person, but because somebody is unable to take personal responsibility, you have several people to do that task, because it feels safe. It’s not safe. In fact it’s disastrous. Most of the time, those people will be fighting each other, duplicating their work and protecting their asses."

They are also planning on doing a video showcasing the combat. I highly doubt it's going to be a simple fighting system like most RPGs or else they wouldn't make such a big deal about it.

Well, it definitely looks sped up. I have faith! Not a fan of the auto-block, even if it does nothing but defense without countering. They didn't have anyone from ARMA
