Here's hoping Respawn are smart enough to give Titanfall's inevitable sequel a more creative name than Titanfall 2. We've already got a TF2 that's still popular.

I doubt the "TF2" conflict with Team Fortress is going to enter their minds. But it is goofy to call if Titanfall 2 if it is the first game in the series to have a 'proper' campaign. Presumably it will because the multiplayer-only call seems to only have been made because the game was going nowhere and they needed to come up with a plan to actually ship something... Yeah I think it's just going to have to be Titanfall 2 with heavy marketing emphasis on the single-player story mode. They could go straight to subtitle-ville I guess... Titanfall: Rise of the somethingsomething? Fall->Rise? Get it? Too bad Rise of the Machines is taken... though they've all but risen in the first one anyway... Rise of the Robots. Rise of... fuck, I got nothing.
The multiplayer campaign plot was so goofy that it doesn't really set up a sequel very well. You get to play each battle from both sides, always winning as the Militia more or less. Then the game is like "but there are always two sides to a story", turns out the other side is "lol we are evil ya know like Cobra or the Decepticons or something" and proceed to get kicked around the galaxy. Then, the epilogue level, where clearly the balance of power has already shifted to the Militia the IMC loses their sweet ass production facilities in a total beatdown... and finally the game is like "hey there's still a lot of battling left to be done, and uhhh the sides are all even now, trust us, ignore what you've seen in every single campaign mission, see you for Titanfall 2". The bright side of the campaign is that maybe 5% of the people playing it understood anything that happened in the plot because they were too busy not losing a multiplayer battle to pay attention. Pretty hard to tell a story in background radio chatter to a highly distracted audience. I think there was some potential in the multiplayer campaign concept, but I don't think they're going to iterate on it. I think it's gone for TF2.
I may have gone off on a tangent.

Yeah I tried to get through a campaign to earn my Stryder and it was taking too long so I had to bail, but out of the four or so missions I played I honestly couldn't tell you what the plot was. No clue other than lots of IMC dudes justifying killing civilians and we were chasing some traitor or something something. I dunno. I like the slower opening. Half the time I haven't finished loading before I'm on the ground in regular multiplayer and unless I pick my loadouts very very quickly I don't have time to pick a burn card. I'd really like a shorter wait in the lobby between games, (is it really necessary to wait that long? why not have the match just start if everyone readies up like other games do?) but a longer intro to the match. Makes me really miss they way Halo Reach loaded the map IN the lobby so when the game started... it started. There's definitely potential for a multiplayer campaign, but this is not it.
I think I'm hoping for the sequel to be a subtitle style name or something. They may choose to ignore Team Fortress 2, but I think it would be a mistake. I don't think it would really cause that much confusion, but I doubt it would help the game.

Multiplayer campaigns never turn out good really (except those co-op adventure ones some people like i guess?). Gears of War 3 had one of the best non-RPG campaigns I have ever played. It was 4-player co-op. Just like going to a movie with friends is so much better than going alone - it's nice to have someone to share those epic moments with. Of course, I did the campaign with my 3 closest friends who I had been playing the Gears series with for over half a decade... shit got REALLY quiet on the headsets when Dom did his thing...

I Really liked playing the halo campaigns with friends (mainly ODST) and i also think Left for dead 1 and 2 had a good multiplayer campaign

Titanfall 3. We'll just skip '2' and let people get confused in the distant future.

No if you want to be confusing you gotta do something like call it Titanfall 180. Then confuse everyone by calling the next one Titanfall ONE instead of Titanfall 360.

What if Microsoft wanted to be cheeky? If they outsold the PS4 in the console battle they would have had them say "The XBOX ONE WON".

What if Microsoft wanted to be cheeky? If they outsold the PS4 in the console battle they would have had them say "The XBOX ONE WON". If Microsoft would have had Kinect Sports ready for launch, included it with the console, and put out a strong advertising campaign for it, they would have sold at least 10x more consoles. They would have finally woken up to the genius thing Nintendo did 8 years ago - appeal to non-gamers. A $500 voice-activated cable box remote is not enough. Every grandma and grandpa bought a god damn Wii. It's such a shame, really. I can see the great potential of this hardware (both the console itself and the Kinect2), but it is horribly limited by both a terrible marketing team, and even moreso a brutal user interface. They clearly learnt nothing from the Windows8 fiasco. I yearn for the day they redo the user interface (remember, the X360 went through 5 different dashboards in it's 8 years. Party chat, the best feature of the 360, didn't even exist on launch)

If they outsold the PS4 in the console battle... LAWL!!!!! Sorry, I'm not a Sony fanboi, I've had a 360 for ages and only got a PS3 last year, but I just don't see any rational reason XBone would outsell PS4. Microsoft screwed the pooch on this generation while Sony learned from the pooch screwing they did last generation. Not to turn this into a XB v PS thread. (Please gawd no!) Besides... Well, I predict the next one will be named Titanfall 1.337, with more gameplay tied to the parkour.
