A game can never have enough maps. Which is why all games should have map making tools and not DLC that segregates the playerbase.

But the maps aren't why the game is already dead, it's the lack of other content. Modes, guns, etc.

I bought the season pass because this game is so gosh darned fun. But I really wish they'd do a campaign. Or spice up the multiplayer maps with more integrated story. Respawning should make use of the dropships and drop-pods that bring in grunts, rather than just having us appear out of nowhere like in those other games.

Played Ghosts for a few hours and was having a very hard time finding matches. Just switched to Titanfall and connected to games instantly.

I want to come down in the drop pods and drop ships. Hell I'd like to zip-line down like the grunts do. Sure it advertises your entrance a bit, but I'm a pilot. I can pop my cloak and parkour the hell out of there if the drop zone is under attack. I don't think it would be that much more dangerous than the random respawns. We already tend to spawn in the same areas where the minions do anyway. That's one reason my favorite way to respawn is in my Titan.

On XONE Titanfall is definitely the most popular MP game. No other games are even close, at least in US and UK. On the sales front: Titanfall is still on top of the weekly charts: US by 05/03: www.vgchartz.com/weekly/41763/USA/ (Titanfall XONE is second place) UK by 05/03: www.vgchartz.com/weekly/41763/UK/ (Titanfall XONE is first place)

I think each DLC pack should introduce a new campaign focusing on the maps in the pack. Or maybe the three maps plus one of the other game maps not already used in campaign. Sadly, I doubt we'll see anything of the sort, though.
(Maybe make the campaign more of a tug of war style where you start on one map and which map you play next depends on which side wins. If one side wins twice they win the campaign. That way you have 1 map that's neutral, and 1 each that represent kind of a last stand though if one side loses the first but wins the second then the third match is actually sudden death and either side can win. Something a little more dynamic than what we have so far. But that's another topic...)

Just played all three maps.
Swampland is very hard to string parkour together, I feel like I end up spending too much time running on the ground, taking forever to get between hardpoints.
Runoff is a great map for pilots - but a deathtrap for Titans. Titans die within a minute of falling on this map.
Wargames is the absolute best map in the game now, surpassing Angel City and Rise. It is a nonstop parkour heaven. You can easily go an entire match without touching the ground. Love it love it love it.

How do you compare Swampland / Runoff with the existing maps, above average or below average? I am still undecided on whether to get it or not, and whether to get it individually or get the Season Pass. Mainly concerned about not enough ppl getting DLC and end up wasting money especially on latter DLCs (if I get Season Pass). So I have a few related questions: Which platform are you playing at? What kind of playlists are they offering for the new maps? Can you get into games easily, especially on less popular game modes?

Respawn Twitter answered my first question above:
Looks like they decided to blend in the new maps into the main stream playlists since day 1.

I'll get the season pass, just because.
I'm wondering if Swampland is just going to be difficult to parkour much or if skilled players will be able to string things together into good, but tricky routes.
I'm still really annoyed that I can't go into a 1 player private match and just explore the maps. Unfortunately it looks like the only way to explore without having to fight would be to hookup with a friend.

Unfortunately it looks like the only way to explore without having to fight would be to hookup with a friend. Me too and I am glad that I am not the only one. That's what I hoped to get from the private match feature, as just parkour around all by myself is going to be fun for me. still in disbelief that they can't just make that happen. My guess is that the game needs to spawn AIs to work, and AIs need to be spawned near pilots. As a result, a seemingly simple feature is hard to implement due to design limitations.

To be honest: $10 for 3 maps, on a game that does not offer solid singer player experience, already has enough maps, and most MP players won't play exclusively of after 1 months ( (at least people on my friends list, who at most play 1 or 2 nights per week), is a bit pricy. Who knows how many players are going to keep playing another 2-3 months down the road, when the 2nd and 3rd DLC is coming out?
If I were EA (such decisions should be controlled by EA, not Respawn), I would have made the call to offer these new maps for free. (at the very least for loyal fans who pre-ordered the game or bought the game in the 1-2 weeks after release). That way, each release of map pack will attract fans back, keep the population steady (which is vital for a the longevity of an MP only game). It is especially so for a "franchise-wanna-be" that will at the best need to wait for 2 years (most likely 3) before the next one can be released. Use free DLCs to keep the game alive for at least one year, offering breathing room for people who are working on the next one.
To predict in the most pessimistic way: I am afraid that this game is going to die (in terms of player population thinning out) in 2 months, nobody playing the 2nd/3rd DLCs, and the "franchise" never gets a chance to take off because it does not have any continuity (since the next version is so far out, and meanwhile its most innovative feature - parkour, is being copied by all other games and franchises). It will be remembered only as an "Interesting footnote" in the history of MP FPS shooter, a mere "inspiration" of later more successful games.

I don't think it would be that hard at all technically. That's basically exactly what they do in the tutorial maps. A few AI's in the map to shoot could be kinda cool, but I really don't care all that much. Just map and parkour is all I really need and I'd have a blast learning new routes and stuff. It's actually a major frustration for me right now because I can't even practice routes I know about from videos without being in a fight.
May just have to play matches where I ignore the battle and just dick around, but there's so little time. You get drawn into fights sooner or later, especially once the titans are out. Plus once I get my own titan I kinda forget that I was trying to learn the map. Going on a rampage with it is just too much fun. I either go on a streak and stay in my titan for what seems like ages and is sometimes the rest of the match, or get pwned immediately and can't think of anything but getting my next one so I can get some payback. ;3
I keep hoping somebody will find a way to force console commands or something.

I think they did this in Halo. It would bring players back even if they weren't buying the DLC to keep the numbers up. Currently I see this as the only viable strategy as they don't want to alienate the players who have already purchased the Season Pass.

Currently I see this as the only viable strategy as they don't want to alienate the players who have already purchased the Season Pass. That would definitely work. Season Pass owners or single DLC buyers get to enjoy the maps earlier by paying for them, so they can benefit by pounding on "map noobs" once the maps become free. It will be like a mini "Christmas Noob" season every 2-3 months. As a result, the sales should still be decent. For a "franchise-wanna-be" that needs to focus on building fan base in the long run more than making money for the short term, this is a great way to keep things together.

I would love for them to do that, but that's something they probably would have needed to announce before release. You know people would a go on a social media jihad if the peasants were to get for free what they have spent DLCbux on.

Full details:
Looks like the PC population has already dropped enough to warrant the removal of dedicated CTF and Pilot Hunter playlists.

I had some fun on these maps over the weekend. Overall I'm very positive, though I'd like to have a rotation with all the maps. I don't want to never see the new maps, but playing only the three maps gets dull and I don't want to burn out on them. Swampland: This initially looks like a hard map to parkour... but really it's a parkour wet dream. You can jump from tree to tree all the way across the interior of the map and there are even a few zip lines up into the trees to give you a headstart. It's challenging, but I think the key is to make sure you run around the trees when you wallrun them rather than just up them. Then time your jump off the tree to aim you at another tree and double jump for correction or if you need more distance. Smart pistol flying squirrel style is loads of fun. The trees really make this map unique, and that's very welcome in my book. This is the most unique map in the game IMO. Runoff: Lots of parkour, lots of open areas, lots of verticality. For me the most welcome part of this map is the vertical levels for titans. Most maps play 2 dimensionally for Titans with maybe a brige here and there or so, but this one has two separate levels with several ways up and many ways down. Can be challenging, though. Easy to get boxed in by multiple opponents, but it is possible to use cover and do some work. Be careful in the wide open watery areas, though. Wargames: More parkour than you can shake a stick at. This map plays fast. With so many parkour routes pilots move towards blips on the maps quickly and are constantly surprising each other. There's also a decent number of buildings for titan cover which is great for me and my triple threat. I'm not a huge fan of it being a simulation... of a simulation, but once on the map I could care less. I hope future maps take notes on the parkour in this map as it's a lot of fun.

You should be play to play the 3 maps along with all the regular maps in Attrition and Hardpoint playlists, right? Of course, this might be difficult if not a lot of players in these playlists have the DLC. If that's not the option, switching among regular playlists and the two DLC specific playlists is not too bad.
I am still on the fence on whether to buy the DLCs or not, concerned about the player population 2+ months down the road.

I dunno. I think in this case people who get the map packs might stick around the longest for their investment. It could go either way I suppose.
