Originally I preordered Destiny on Amazon. However, I recently decided to cancel the preorder for the following reasons: 1) I can't play Destiny in September, so I am not in a hurry to have to get my hands on the game for week 1; 2) If I do end up preordering, the Microsoft Store deal is more attractive; 3) I am thinking about going for direct digital download, because of this: winsupersite.com/xbox/xbox-one-game-sharing . If this works, I may buy another XONE so my wife and I can play Destiny (and Halo, which are the only games I probably can get her to play) together, without having to buy another XBL gold membership and a second copy of Destiny. However, for that to work the first copy must be digital; 4) I am tempted by the Digital Guardian Edition (DGE) since I am almost certain that I am going to get both expansions. In that case the Expansion Pass is the way to go, and DGE can save $5 more on top of that, plus some additional digital stuff. It is currently not available for XONE, but I expect it to be available right after launch (if not before). The most ideal offer would be DGE preorder through Microsoft Store (if that is ever offered), which will cost only $79.99 for $100 value ($60 for the game, and $20 x 2 for the 2 expansion packs).

I bought the Digital Guardian Edition at GameStop when I bought my PS4. Didn't even know there was a GameStop promo. Hopefully that will make me feel better about the bad choice of preordering a digital game with them since they refuse to give me the code so that I can register my preorder with the Playstation Store. Instead I have to get it from GameStop's website on 9/9... And I can't cancel, because it's digital. meh... The code better show up on time.
I knew I would want all the DLC for this one so it was an easy choice. I also don't want a disk. I want to be able to fire up Destiny any time without swapping disks. So yeah. In for a penny...

Preordered from Amazon because I still had a rebate left over from when I bought my TV last year, ended up being like $23 or something, so yeah, pretty good bang for the buck there I think. Just the standard edition, should have it on day 1, and in all likelihood I'll be getting all the expansion stuff as well as soon as it becomes available for the XONE.

My friend and I are splitting the cost on one account and doing digital download. $30 for a game? Winning!

I am trying to confirm that the method of sharing XBL gold and digital game assets on two XONEs as described in winsupersite.com/xbox/xbox-one-game-sharing can indeed work.

Oh, great. So you can have two players play the same game at the same time on 2 different PS3s (and probably 2 PS4s)? You can just use one PS Plus membership while doing that?

Limited time offer from Dell, found by TheHawkNYPreorder Destiny and get a $25 Dell gift card. It shows when you add to cart. It appears the ship date is 9/19. Pretty good deal if you don't mind waiting a couple weeks after launch to get the game. PS4Xbox OneDirections: add the item to cart and you should be able to see the promo on the next page. Note that the gift card will expire in 90 days, so to take advantage of it you need to have something you want to buy from Dell during that period. Great for PC bros, but for me it is not as attractive as the MSFT gift card, which can be used to buy any digital items. Added to OP as well.

Used to be 5 accounts. Basically you activate an account on up to 2 PS3s and anything from that account can be used on both consoles. Don't know if they continued that into PS4 or not.

I think it was a previous deal they were running during beta that sold out or else they just resupplied it after selling out during the beta. Seems fine now.

I had pre-ordered an Xbone version from amazon to get into the beta awhile ago. But I still need to decide if I am actually going to get an Xbone to play on. Otherwise I'll have to change my pre-order to 360. I'd really like to get the digital version with the expansion stuff but I haven't seen it avaliable for Xbox...

There are some playstation exclusives (expire in a year-ish) but surely there are some bonuses or something for XBox as well. I dunno. I don't think it's that big a deal. The early access to Vanguard stuff is probably the biggest effect of it, but on the other hand it's one less thing to earn on your own in a game that will largely be about going out and earning stuff for your characters. I dunno. Forget what exactly there is. I just want the game already...
If you're planning on getting a next gen console at some point you might consider doing it for Destiny. The graphics aren't quite as "next gen" as some other games, but it is beautiful, and the 1080p is lovely. On the other hand if you don't mind rebuying the game again at some later date then there's really nothing to discourage you from getting it on 360 given your characters will transfer when you do upgrade. *shrug* Though we also don't have the full details of how it'll run on XBONE. I know the beta version wasn't full resolution like on PS4. But they have said it will be on XBONE, they probably just needed more time to optimize that version as I think that Bungie has been working more closely with Sony than MS on this one. I expect they'll get it up to par, though. Like I said, not graphically the most next gen game out there.

That's a legitimate point because your character can transfer from 360 to XBONE, but you can't play with people cross platform. Bungie decided that having lower resolution and such would be unfair.

PS4 Limited edition with the DLC packs. It's not like I won't buy them anyway. Interestingly - in the UK it's the equivalent of $125! (£74.99 from amazon)

Is that because you may still want to go with PS4? PS4 does offer a Destiny bundle with white console and controller at $450, as well as a free month of PS Plus (around $6 value): www.ecumenicalnews.com/article/sony-ps4-white-destiny-bundle-price-official-release-date-announced-25918 . By buying this bundle you can save ~$16. It only offers Destiny standard edition though. (This option is added to the OP as well).

The 360 version of the beta, while pretty good had some flaws. For one, the graphics looked pretty bad. Maybe I had been spoiled by PC games as of recently, but it's noticeable from the next-gen videos I had seen. Also loading was a pain in the ass. I'm not sure if it was because I had a relatively old 360, but it took forever to load everything, especially the loadout/character menu (which made changing guns a bitch). So I guess I'm gonna go next gen. I'll miss all the 360 noobs though.
I still wasn't sure if I'd use console enough to justify the purchase, but I guess Destiny will be the game that gets me back into playing on console again. I guess I'll probably buy one sometime soon.

Might as well update what I'm doing. I registered for a $100 trade for my 360 and before I sent it in, they sent me the code for the $100 coupon. So I placed my order for the Xbone on Friday, and it showed up on my doorstep today. So I guess I'll keep my 360 until I actually get games for the Xbone sitting in my living room. Been playing Halo 3 recently to get ready for Destiny.
