This is a light bit of required reading for XB1 Den Bros who don't have proof that they have completed the raid (chatterwhite. raid ship, Atheon's epilouge, etc.) . We are looking for 27-28. Don't ask if you are 26. Being carried is not a good way to make a first impression. Don't want to be too legalistic here., I just want people going in to already have a general idea of what to expect and the level required to hold their own.
We want you to jump right in with an already established crew, know your positions, and wreck face. This isn't going to be a super detailed guide. Just a guide for first time participants. You go down? You are down for 30 seconds. This is a surefire way to lose.
Vault of Glass:
You need Void damage going in. You need at least 5 Heavy Ammo Synthesis ready to go as well. Prepare well at the tower.
First bit is easy. Defend on left, center (top), and right. Lower level (27) characters will get put into groups with higher levels. At no time should a lower level be on a team with another lower level. Distribution of power is key.
Next, there is the first loot chest.
Then, some parkour down to the first boss area. Don't jump down. Let your Raid leader assign jobs. You are going to be defending areas. If enough Vex get to those areas... everyone dies. There will be a left team, a right team, and a center team to defend these areas. There will be Vex covered in green goop that will mark you for death. When the boss does his ritual.... if you are marked you will die. To get un-marked go to the glowing white circle near the center. Don't shoot the boss. It's pointless.
First, you defend one area (center). Then, survive a wave of armored harpies. Then, you defend two areas (left and right). Then, you survive more harpies. Then, you defend three areas (left, center, right). Then survive more harpies.
Next, you have the oracle round.
Shoot green oracles that play different notes while surviving waves of vex. If you don't kill all the oracles, they will mark you just like the green goop. Also dodge the infinitely spawning hobgoblins. The teams are still left right middle, but some people will be tasked with sniping the hobgoblins. Killing oracles is the most important part though. After about the 7th round of this, the boss fight commences.
There is a relic. This is now how you get cleansed. The white circle is gone. An experienced relic user will be in charge of cleansing everyone and taking down the boss' shield (he has to unleash a fast charging super). This is how you damage him. When the boss' shield goes down he will place some members of the fireteam in a bubble. If you don't destroy the bubble it will kill you. If you leave without destroying it...it will still kill you. If you are jumping when the bubble appears, it will kill you. Don't fire a rocket when the bubble appears...it will kill you.
Now, normally you would have to run around shooting oracles and dodging minions while fighting the boss, but we developed a cheesy method of beating the boss with no problems. Follow your leader to a floating rock off the map (on the left-hand side). Once all 5 players (minus the guy picking up the relic) are there, the fight begins. The relic guy will grab the relic and parkour up to the rock. Normally you would have to worry about destroying oracles, but the relic guy will be there to cleanse all players at once. Just focus on shooting the boss when the shields go down.
Good! Hardest part is done!
Next, is the gorgons maze. STOP! DONT RUN. This is a stealth area. If you get seen by a gorgon you are dead. Your whole team dies! There are three chests in this next area, though only two you need to worry about (one gives spirit bloom). Follow your group to the gorgon's maze and follow leaders to collect your loot. There are two branching methods people can use here.
The first is the legit way. You follow your leaders to the hidden exit. Then, once everyone is at the second parkour section...you begin. This is a struggle for many players, but you can get the hang og it. Floating platforms will appear and disappear, leading the player down wiht them. We are gonna skip all that. Jump on the first platform, then to the topmost area of the second platform. From there you are going to make a jump at the far wall. Use your double jump right before the edge so you don't die to fall damage! Then make your way along the edge, jumping to avoid the gaps.
There is a cheesey method for this one as well. This is why leaders will set their fireteam to un-joinable. You can struggle to the exit (and it is good to learn how to get to the exit) or you can leave to orbit and let the blade dancer hunters (making sure that one of them is the fireteam leader) cloak past this entire area and do the parkour section by themselves. Then, they enter the final area and have everyone join back. The entire team will rejoin the game, but appear as dead. Then the blade dancers jump off the cliff. When the respawn happens, everyone will be at the final area with no loot missed.
The gatekeeper boss is up next. There will be two rings to activate just like the very first area. Two teams of two will defend these rings from praetorians (left and right). Two expert players will be go into the portals and defeat a boss inside those portals (solo). They will then bring a relic out and use it while outside and super the center. Then, all teams move to the center to defend a conflux (just like the Templar boss) from minotaurs. After this Atheon will appear.
This part takes massive coordination.
During the Atheon fight new players will have a very easy job. One will be put on defense at a sniper perch and will be tasked with defending the other players from harpies. The other two will be tasked with keeping portals open. Usually one expert will remain on this team to guide. Atheon will use a special attack where he teleports the three farthest players from him to a special area littered with oracles and praetorians to destroy. This is the most difficult part and the task the experts will be on.
In order to manipulate this separation attack of atheon, the expert team going into the special area will always be in the same location (in the back middle near the door). Positioning is KEY, so each player can focus on their job. The other team will be closer...keeping the portals open and shooting harpies. The team inside will shout which portal they need opened (brown world = left portal. Green world = right portal). All the while, super aggressive explosive harpies will be spawning. These are the most deadly enemies in the raid. They will one shot you with their explosions. If you have to, jump over them to prematurely trigger their detonation. However, the portal opening team will be tasked with killing these harpies so that the inside team can focus on getting back in position.
After the team exits the portal successfully there will be a buff called time's vengeance that lets everyone do increased damage to the boss. This is when you shoot him....and get back in position. Repeat this process as needed, until victory.
If you have any questions post them here!
If you make it through on your first go, be sure to thank the crew members that took you. We have taken randoms in before that get their loot and leave. We find that a touch insulting since this does take time and dedication. Just make a good first impression!
