IMHO the current implementation is OK. There should be a line for what levels are appropriate for Weekly / Nightfall. Right now the line is around
Weekly: 26+ Nightfall: 28+
I just wish that matchmaking can somehow be introduced for Strikes, with these constraints in place.

Difficulty balancing for player count can be tricky. Increasing enemy health is a valid technique, but definitely not my fav. I think they went with that because clearly you need to increase health on bosses since you aren't going to increase the number. Personally I think it should be a combination. Bosses should get more health, and maybe some AI tweaks. Most mobs should stay the same health but spawn more of them. Where it's not feasible or desirable to spawn more they could have some more health, but even then I'd prefer to have more special circumstances added to the encounter instead. For example with more players add a few sniper enemies where there were none solo, or more enemies with grenades, ect... Maybe more of the yellow health bar enemies. Anyway, they should definitely rebalance it. You should be encouraged to bring a friend. As is going solo gives you a pretty decent advantage. Personally I still think it's useful to have someone along to anchor in case someone goes down, even though I can self revive. But I'm not sure it's always worth the extra enemy health tradeoff. (I'd still rather play with Marko than solo, though. It's more fun with a friend.) Maybe there should also be a loot reward for more players. I'd like to see a player count difficulty adjustment rebalance, matchmaking and/or LFG, and then close (or rebalancing) of the cheese spots. (By rebalance I mean you don't necessarily have to completely close off a cheese spot if you can balance the risk/reward in some way by increasing the risk of using the spot and/or removing the reward.) Well people going solo partially because it's easier once you are at the right level, map knowledge and or equipment + it's tedious to find others to do a weekly/ nightfall because of it. Therefor reward people for each additional player in their group with another reward slot/ add matchmaking to Nightfall/ weekly (therefor solo is impossible which may or may not be liked). If you are new and lvl 23/24, it seems rather impossible to get a grip into these and once you are lvl 28-30... it is out of the question not to do them as they can be done solo and with cheesespots without much problems. Considering the healthbuff, it plays more like a harder mission than something requiring a group. Other MMO's would force to group up as enemies had always the same health on normal and would be a pain to do solo which frankly.... nowadays I wouldn't like to be honest. It's different if you've got all time in the world to play.

So... anyone w/o a raidweapon with solar dmg ran the latest nighfall solo? The spot up high w/o jumping down seems out of the question due to the minotaur eating 5-6 sniper shots. I've tried with my lvl 28 Sunsinger... not sure I should bother with the lvl 29 titan when I can't drop the elites in a sufficient manner.

I wasn't put them down and running out of ammo is just annoying. I'll do it with Mannon because I thoroughly enjoy his company (aka: he carries my butt) but not alone

Nice to see a solar Swarm with the Field Scout upgrade exists. I would love to have that as I only have a 60 round Swam in void. This might be very important as I tried my void Zombie Apocalypse, which is fully upgraded, and it lacked power in taking out the Axis Minotaur that rushes behind you. A Defender should be good because the grenades are void and you can replenish your health with Ward of Dawn.

I am looking forward to giving this a run with my Sunsinger equipped with VoC (solar), Icebreaker (solar), and Hezen's (solar). Hooray. +1, so excited about Solar burn Going all in with solar: Vex Mythoclast (Solar), Praetorian Foil (Solar), and Hazen's Vengeance (Solar), Gunslinger and Sunsinger. Fear the Sun and Light, Vex(es) of the Darkness! Wonder how much Solar fire power those cave-minotaurs can take... This is a big contrast to last week: Void Burn on Nightfall against arc/solar shielded minions & minor bosses, and no burn of any kind on weekly. Not to mention that THE bullet-sponge Phangoth and his best buddy Shrieker are huge pain in the ass. It was painful, I was not able to complete any Nightfall solo...

Actually I use a swarm with solar, however it takes almost a full clip to down a minotaur... afaik 2 minotaur max w/o ammo drop. The solar fusion rifle I used in the area before that was quite useful on the flying shielded vex. OSK. I then used epitaph solar for OSK the sniper vex (which OSK me at lvl 28).

Did 2 Nightfall runs last night: soloed with Sunsinger and co-oped with Gunslinger.
Vex Mythoclast & Vision of Confluence, both solar damage primaries from Raid, cut through minions like hot knife through butter. Vex Myth does ~1700 damage with a head shot, and VoC does something like 1200+ (according to my friend who was using it, since I don't own VoC).
Ice Breaker does 7700+ crit damage on final boss. Hazen has multiple explosions of 2200+ damage. Both can kill the boss within ~4-5 minotaur respawn cycles.
These weapons provide more than enough fire power against anybody on your path. The only dangerous threats in Nightfall are the minotaurs spawning in the back of the cave during the final boss fight. A few tips to stay alive:
1) AoE grenades will cause them to pause on their tracks, giving you time to run past him to get out of the cave; 2) When trying to run past him: there are two small stone arches in the middle of the cave, one on left side and one on right side, that can be used to run past the minotaur without getting melee-ed.

Use the solar Swarm for the Minotaur and a solar sniper rifle for Mind Sekrion. Take three shots at Sekrion and rush back near the entrance with your Swarm in your hand. This will stop it from spawning most of the time. Always make sure your Swarm has a full magazine and slow down to use synthesis packs if need be. Just did it myself and RNG was good to me - Heart of Praxic Fire.

Just did it myself and RNG was good to me - Heart of Praxic Fire. Congrats! All I got from the 2 runs are legendary SR and legendary Rocket Launcher, like I don't already have enough of these... Was hoping for Gjallarhorn / Heart of Praxic Fire / Helm of Saint-14 . All hopes are on Xur now. Come on Xur, you can do it! I BELIEVE you!

Venus seems to be a happy hunting ground for me since Aksor has been generous in the past with Nightfall and Shores of Time and Asylum are my best Crucible maps too. That was my luck though. Got a Shadow Price with Third Eye and Field Scout upgrades, and then 10 Ascendant Energy, which I needed anyway.

Solo'd the Nexus cheesing Sekrion from above and staying behind the two rocks to ADS waiting for the Minotaur. There's not much room for error on positioning here. Got 10 Ascendant Energy. FFS, Bungie. You get these from the Daily Story Missions and the bonus rewards for public events.

Yeah...they really need to get rid of ascendant mats as nightfall rewards. Most people have a ton, probably more than they'll need for a long time, and they're easily available from many activities for those that actually need them. Getting fewer coins from the nightfall than the weekly is bad enough, but at least they're not a complete slap in the face.

If a guaranteed exotic is too much for Bungie then a legendary that is not for sale at any of the vendors will do for me. I would have loved to have had The Swarm in arc and solar with the Field Scout upgrade pre-level cap increase. I wouldn't mind Strange Coins so much but I've had five Strange Coins as a reward once. This defeats the point of doing the Weekly Heroic, let alone the issue of repeated and limited stock of Xur who is only around for 36 hours. And they are one of two rewards from the Postmaster for the first gold public event now so they're not exactly hard to come by. At least make the Strange Coin amount higher than the Weekly Heroic since it is usually considered harder.

I haven't seen AE/AS as Nightfall rewards for a while. I am done with needing AS but still short on AE. There is one thing that I am definitely not short of: Vanguard Commendations . These things are pretty useless, whoever came up with the idea looks pretty stupid now (The only purpose is to gate the progress when the DLC was released, but it did not stop people with maxed out marks and 10 saved bounties at 5000 XP, with Nightfall 25% bonus, to reach level 31 ten minutes after the DLC became available). Back to Nightfall: in general I think the loot drops are getting worse. Not only the exotics drop rate is abysmal, but also the quantity is decreasing as well. I used to get 9+ coins, nowadays 5 coins are pretty common. That's just laughable, Nightfall should at least trumps Weekly.

So far this week, 2 nightfalls resulting in 11 AE (I now have 140 of them, so that is useless) and 8 strange coins (yes, fewer than you get from weekly). Lame.

Yup, I have 7 of them now just sitting there taking up vault space. Maybe if the Vanguard actually sold some decent weapons I'd be more inclined to use them, but unfortunately most of them are pretty lackluster, either due to poor stats, or decent stats with underwhelming perks. So far I haven't seen any reason to upgrade from my VoG weapons. Not to mention I've burned most of my Vanguard marks on materials for upgrading all my new raid armor and 2 raid weapons, so I can't afford to buy any of the vanguard stuff anyway. I might pick up the Harm's Way (void machine gun) at some point, but nothing else seems too appealing.

I'll third that. The Vanguard weapons mostly suck. Take the auto rifles. All of them are the high RoF, low impact variety. Why have two or three of the same type? By far the worst type of auto rifle. There's no need for them. Sniper rifles? Please. Suckage. I have a number of the Vanguard accomodations just sitting around too, taking up space.
The said, the Crucible Quartermaster does have some decent weapons. The TFPKY1969 is pretty fun (got that through a loot drop, but it's available there). And the Saterienne Rapier is there (Scout Rifle). I think I am going to pick that up this week, as I have no other weapons to level up at the moment.

I posted this link in the "meet the expansion" thread: planetdestiny.com/weapon-comparison/ . Pretty informative on what weapons to consider. Vanguard Quartermaster offerings: 1) I bought LDR-5001 yesterday because I need a legendary arc sniper. It feels pretty good, probably the best Vanguard weapon worthy your marks; 2) I got Badger CCL from an engram and it is pretty good too; 3) I got a PLUG ONE.1 from an engram as well, it is a fusion rifle with big impact but low charge rate. Luckily the one I got has the "ACCELERATED COILS" talent which greatly speeds up the charge rate, as well as void damage to complement Murmur perfectly. I have fully upgraded it and it is now my new go to FR in Crucible; 4) I got 3 "ONE WAY TICKET 000" from loot drops, one of each damage type. Looks like RNG god really wants me to use this Rocket Launcher So far I am not very impressed because none of them have great talents, but they get the job done and can't complain for something I got for free; Crucible Quartermaster has several attractive offerings: 1) TFWPKY 1969; 2) B-Line Trauma (similar to MiDA); 3) The Saterienne Rapier (ScoutR with Fatebringer like talents); 4) Three Little Words (highest impact Pulse Rifle with 2 very useful talents); 5) Y-09 Longbow Synthesis: I got this from a loot drop. Solid Sniper Rifle with stats similar to Ice Breaker, and mag size of 5 (most legendaries only have 3 or 4); 6) Against All Odds machine gun: highest impact just like Jolder's Hammer, which feels like an auto sniper; Iron Banner weapons: the article described most of them in detail, they are all pretty solid. I have the following with 331 max attack: 1) Efrideet's Spear: hardest hitting sniper in the game, just like Black Hammer; 2) Gheleon’s Demise: similar stats as Badger CCL, bigger mag; Faction weapons: 1) I heard a lot of good things about Vanquisher III from New Monarchy. Similar stats as Shadow Price / Grim Citizen III;

Run 1: 10 Ascendant Energies Run 2: Red Hand IX (I think this is my 4th or 5th one now) Run 3: Prestige IV (never tried it but it probably sucks)
Meh.
At least now I have mastered the art of headglitching the anti-cheese Minotaurs behind the rocks.
Valus Ta'aurc, please give me something nice for this upcoming weekly refresh.

With truth Iv used all three characters my hunter and titan are 32 and my warlock is 31. When it comes to nightfall there isn't one class that trumps the titan defender. If you have the right build nothing can kill the titan by its shield. plus the other characters are squishy and die much faster than the titan. Sure the Hunters can go invisible but that is all they really can do. If your in nightfall and your invisibility wears off on you in front of a mass of enemies you will most likely kick the bucket if theres burn. Where as the titan is capable of taking more punishment and has a chance to get away. Then there is the warlock yes the self revive is very helpful. I will not deny that it is a great tool to have. But its not great for solo. because as soon as you self revive you are vulnerable to the enemies attacks again and even with radiance you will die quickly if there is a burn.
People say the titan is less effective than the other characters during solo. Well that statement couldn't be farther than the truth. The titan has an outrage amount of armor and can create a self regenerating shield. along with dropping a bubble that would defend from damage that would kill the other characters. The titan is a tank and that can't be denied. so my question is would you rather bring a tank into battle or an infantry man?
In my opinion the best characters for solo go as follows Titan Warlock Hunter
