So I'm now level 26 without ever playing the strike playlist, much less any heroic or nightfall missions. In fact I've only played the Devil's Lair strike, still haven't played one other mission on the moon, and only have played the first mission on Venus. *shrug* I am a nearly maxed out Sunsinger who can self revive at least, although I have no legendary or exotic weapons yet.
So anyway. Suggestions? I probably don't have time to grind out all the story missions right away so I'm likely just gonna dive in and try out the heroic mission solo to see how it goes. If I die horribly it's no big loss I'll just exit to orbit and go do something else. But I thought I'd post. (If I actually have a chance to devote the time and attention to it I'll jump on the guild PS4 chat, but I usually can't just ignore my girlfriend and play Destiny with earphones in my ears for hours so I tend not to bother.)

At level 26 you can totally do weekly solo. You can start playing against level 22, then move on to 26. You can even play 28 if you have OP weapons.
If you get frustrated, check out YouTube or simply come here for advice. There is a "cheesy" area to solo the boss at on each Strike (at least the ones I played so far), that's how you can do it solo even against higher level enemies.
I don't recommend doing Nightfall (solo or coop) until you reach level 28, and even at that level you may not succeed if going solo unless you have the right weapons. Of course, it does not hurt to try and see what it is like.

This week's cheese spot for the boss is to not drop down to the boss room. Mind your back as a Minotaur spawns every so often. Void sniper rifle for the first Darkness Zone you will enter to take out the Fallen. Void LMG for everything else, and try and get a large enough magazine sized one to help save you using heavy ammo synthesis packs. The void LMG I used is a Swarm with the Field Scout upgrade that gives me a 60 round magazine instead of 38, handy for spraying down the boss and prefiring the Minotaur. Sustained fire appears to stop the Minotaur from teleporting.
I'd advise the Weekly Heroic first so you know the map details and enemy locations in advance. You don't want to be taken by surprise to then be kicked to orbit. I've seen a few people got caught by the Goblin ambush just before the boss on the normal Nexus strike in the past.

It does help to have a strong weapon maxed like Vision or Icebreaker. But I started doing Nightfall grouped at 26 and solo at 27.

I'd propose the same, sniper and lmg with void are essential if you don't have any legendary. Start doing the lvl 22 before attempting the higher levels. Yesterday was some good bounties to go along with like "finish weekly heroic/ collect venus marks/ 100 enemies w/o getting killed and 100 enemies to do precision damage to". Mind the snipers along the way as well as large hordes of Vandals. Just sneek around corners and take down one by one, no rush required. Sunsinger gives you the benefit of fine tuning your play w/o replaying sections of the strike. After you entered the tunnel and are past the large goblin wave, take out the minotaurs down below (around 3) then wait for 2-3 Minotaur to spawn behind you at the tunnel entrance and take them down (I used 2 sniper shots and finished off with the main). Walk up to the ledge, this should trigger the boss. Then empty grenades/ 1 clip from the LMG on him and wait for the minotaur to spawn (same place as before) until the boss is dead. If you run out of ammo, just ran back to where you shot the mMinotaurand refill your ammo clips.

You dont need to engage the Minotaur that spawns behind you , whack a few shots into the boss then run back out the cave , this stops it spawning and also resets the boss so its no longer blasting the shit out of you , rinse and repeat...

Yes I did that, but there will be a time when it will spawn because I take my time killing stuff. On average I emptied 10 rounds into Mind Sekrion from my Swarm before rushing back to reload and to avoid the void attacks.

Step 1: you look to see if your slacker/underachiever partner in crime, Monsieur PoloMarkoPolo is online on the PS4. Step 2: You throw me a LMG message on the PeeEss4 Step 3: We bleed together The only strike I've done was the Devil's Lair as well, just for fun. I thought it would be like the story mode where it would put me in a PUG group. It did not, so I soloed up until the 3rd wave of the 1st part where the ghost has to disarm the tripmines, where I stupidly hurt myself with my own nova bomb and then got killed by a captain. I accepted your friend request... sorry it took so long, my marks are due for my classes so I've been doing more marking and comment compiling recently. But I'm ready to go if you are.

Did the heroic weekly on level 22. Went okayish... I had little idea what I was doing and met some enemies I've never seen before. I was also using the wrong sniper rifle. lol For some reason I equipped my arc one instead of void. The boss was a grind and a half, but I did it. I might be able to pull off 24 with more experience and the right sniper rifle.

Is it actually possible to back out of the cave after going in? It seemed like such a drop that it wouldn't be possible to get back up, and all the higher ledges seem blocked off with invisible walls. (A fact that nearly killed me when I tried to land on them and ran out of glide. I think I had like 5 health left after that fall.) The boss wouldn't drop down until after I had killed off most of the guys already in the chamber and he was immune to damage before he does so not real sure how to make this work, sounds tedious too.
I ran completely out of ammo a couple of times, but managed to stay alive with melee, grenades, and cowering behind rocks until I got the free ammo. The respawns are a bitch, but I found a spot where the respawns would only come from two directions and I had a fair bit of cover from them as well as the boss himself, and once they were dealt with I could creep around and pick away at the boss, or when he was in the right spot shoot at him through a narrow gap he had a hard time getting projectiles through. It was still quite a slog, though. But then with the right sniper rifle and a few special ammo packs it might not be such a chore. Sadly I died several times before I got to that point so I didn't fulfill my bounty to complete a strike without dying, but that's okay.
I had closed the game by the time I posted so I just assumed it was 22 then 24. It prolly is 26.
heh I haven't even unlocked Mars, but that's an option. I might well grind my way through most of the remaining story missions this weekend. I may even do them on low levels just to blast through quicker, though with Fireborn it's not that big a deal. (Although now that I do have fireborn I pretty much only use my super to revive myself and the rest of the time pretty much save it up for said purpose instead of actually using it offensively, which makes me a little sad panda.)
I'll give it a whirl on 26 tonight, but I think I'll see if I can enlist some backup instead of going solo. I can see that soloing these things is going to be a little tough until I can get some better weapons. I still don't even have a legendary weapon, though I've got a few decent rares. Tempted to go with a void fusion rifle instead of sniper, though. As it would help me more with all the respawns. (srsly What do I have to do to get a sniper rifle with scout or auto rifle level of zoom? They pretty much all seem so heavily zoomed in that it's a pain in the arse to be effective with them as your enemies are either so close they are really difficult to track with your tunnel vision, or the enemies just go hide behind cover after your first shot or two. Seems like it's really only great for bosses.) From the spot I was using I could still nail the boss with a fusion rifle I'd just have to prefire it a bit to avoid splashy purple death. ;p

If you jump down, you can't go back up. But one option is to stay up there, cheese the boss, and be mindful about the "blink expert" minotaurs spawning behind you who can magically disappear and then reappear right in your face. There is a better cheese spot inside the cave, but requires some serious parkouring to get to. Dumien can explain that much better than me.

How do you get the boss to drop down if you don't go down there. He just seems to sit there and all the enemies around hide behind cover though I can usually snipe one of them from up there. Do I just have to wait like 10 minutes and he drops down anyway?
What I found that worked for me was dropping down and going to the right, then gliding on top of a section of the walls and stuff there. From there I can safely take out the enemies without having my face pulverized. If I go ground level they seem to teleport and surround me and it's difficult to keep them at a distance where I can dodge their attacks without backing into another set of them. When there are only about two left the boss decides to drop down and I run like hell for cover from the boss. The two that are left are usually right on my ass and I pull out my LMG to finish them off since I can't hide on top of pillars and shiz with the boss out.
Then I run to the left from the entrance and up that bit of a ramp for my little spot and work on grinding away the bosses health. At first I was staying out front close to where you drop down from the cave behind a big block I could take shots at the boss from right then left and so forth, but when all the spawns pop up behind you it's a bit of a deathtrap, and the spot to the left the I just happened upon (while running away) is much better anyway. I'm sure it's not a great spot, it's just the only one I survived to find and tell the tale. ;3

There are two cheese spots in the arena but the videos I have seen on Youtube might not show it properly and I think one cheese spot was patched (one mentioned by a Youtube dude called Force).

I don't know if I can do that. I was only able to kill the weaker ones from up there as the tougher ones have far too much shield health for me to kill them before they cloak and teleport behind cover. Maybe with a void sniper, but I think I just don't do enough damage.

A machine gun with high impact, like The Swarm, without void might work.

I do have a void LMG luckily, though it's only a rare and about high/mid Impact. (I have a higher impact green MG I keep around in case I play Crucible, but I've never seen a blue with as much.)

I dunno if I can sustain enough fire with my sniper rifle. I doubt it. A full mag wasn't enough to finish the tougher ones. But we'll see if my void sniper fares better, plus I think it's fully upgraded.

Void damage is enhanced for this weekly strike so you should be able to take them out with a clip.

The regular are OSK with a void sniper, the tougher 2-3 shots on lvl 26/28. I wouldn't waste LMG on the minions.
There are usually two harder ones and two regular.. each of one usually between 10-12 o' clock, another easy one will be at 1 o'clock, he usually teleports once towards the center and the second tougher one should be at 7o'clock (right below you).
I've had some problems on lvl 28 (I'm 27), I tried to use the tactic to run back through the cave but I was usually too late. Would you land only a few shots at the boss and run back right away so the minotaur wouldn't spawn?
One cheese spot down below is to get down to the right platform below you. Then continue on the same level and after another 2-3 jumps you are on a spot where the pillar closer to the circle is higher with a lower pillar behind, however the re-spawn could still be an issue but mostly the boss shooting at you all the time is. There was another one on the left but I haven't seen if that worked well enough.

This week's Nightfall has no burn modifiers and it looks pretty tough. Lightswitch with the Cabal is going to be an instant OHK.

I can see players getting to the boss room and then dying to a melee having spent my be an hour or more getting there and then getting kicked to orbit. Might try the Weekly Heroic first instead this time and I have the Ice Breaker. At least if you get to the boss, you can cheese him behind some blocks. The videos on Youtube show a more tedious spot from what I could see. My spot is to go to the far left, crouch and jump up and over the block, and then start cheesing.
