To give some sense of scale.
Assuming your character walks a bit faster than a CoD soldier, (Destiny = 4.75 meters per second, CoD is slightly slower)....Your sled/bike thingy you ride around on goes about 33-34 miles per hour. That's it's top speed. I think my math is pretty solid on it, but it was done on a napkin in a few minutes. Take it for what it's worth.
And in terms of distance, the scale of these maps? They are not done to scale, only by my head. Bigger areas felt bigger, so I tried to draw them bigger. I did this on the fly. But for an example, use the map of Mars. Going from the Patrol spawn to the exit path on the opposite side, it's about 255 meters across. How did I calculate that? It took about 54 seconds to walk it, so from there I just worked back. And about 17 seconds for a bike. So 255 meters is pretty far. Comparing that to CoD, a typical CoD map is about 150 meters across (sprinting across it). So yeah.....Destiny's worlds are a pretty big place.

I am half joking on that , but seriously, I can use a drawing like the above for the Gorgon Maze. Among the Guardians in the universe of Destiny: I am not only the lamest level 30, but also the most orientation challenged.

Among the Guardians in the universe of Destiny: I am not only the lamest level 30, but also the most orientation challenged. After mapping them out a few weeks ago, I was shocked at how little I knew of the worlds. Like where things where, how to get there, and so on. They also helped me with Bounties. Like "Kill 10 Vex Majors'. Best spot? the Citadel. Where is it? I could never remember. But with the maps, it makes sense. And on the map, I have a '*' up in the Citadel with there spot is. You can get ten Vex Majors there in about two minutes. Also never realized the Ember Caves connected to the Citadel, via that back path.

Dude. These are fantastic! To scale or not, totally accurate or not, they're easily the best Destiny maps I've seen so far. Good work!

Good point on bounty locations. Let's post thoughts here. 1) Kill 10 hive majors: the famous location of 3 hive musketeers (probably the most killed 3 AIs of the Destiny universe ) on Steppes right after you land for patrol; 2) Kill 2+ enemies with Fusion Rifle / kill 3+ enemies with Super: Heb told me a spot that is perfect for this, also at Steppes (the buiding in the middle, downstairs, where a group of 7 fallens keep respawning in the room below the stairs and run towards you in perfectly suicidal single column formation. One super of Fist Havoc / Nova Bomb = 5-7 orbs, curious on 4 shots Golden Gun with penetration would do);

I copied and pasted this website onto an excel sheet of mine. Then resorted the list, making the bounties easier to follow (plus changed a few titles, so I could remember easier)

10 vex majors = Venus/Patrol = citadel (where the star is, on the map) 10 hive majors = Earth Patrol = toolshed basement, 40m left of the opening start(little box on the map) 10 Fallen = Venus/Patrol = Ember Caves. One major by entrance to mission start, very fast respawn. 10 Cabal = Mars/Patrol = Buried City = OWT transit building (I think)
20,000 xp in about 20 minutes. Every time.
2+ enemies with Fusion = Big toolshed basement, Steppes, Earth Patrol. Dumien showed me the loot trick here. Make sure the corner of the Steppes is empty. This is the 4-5 enemies that loiter around in the corner by the entrance tunnel to the Divide. Kill them. Then race to the basement of the toolshed. The spawn down there will send waves of weak enemies lined up in a row. Repeatedly. As long as that corner of the Steppes is empty. You can get five, six plus waves in a row on a good cycle. A good fusion rifle can get this bounty done in 3 minutes or less.
The '100 precision kills' bounty also works in the above spot. Get a scout rifle, get the spawn trick going....and you'll get about 7 to 8 precision kills per wave. You can get this done in about ten minutes with some luck.

Also... fantastic thread... great pics!

If you are looking at the above map of Earth...the bottom right corner of the 'Steppes'.
Enemies will be dropped from a ship onto the field next to this corner. The enemies will then run into that corner and sit there, until killed. You need to have this area clear of ALL enemies.
You kill them quick. Then sprint to the big toolshed. Run down the stairs, and hide in the stairwell opposite of their spawn (the stairwell going down even lower) which will be in a hallway on the other side. Watch your radar. When it lights up, you jump out and kill them, as they are all lined up. When done, go hide in the stairwall again. Repeat. This will happen over and over....as long as that far right corner is empty.
This works well with two people obviously. One gets the waves, the 2nd person clears the corner.

Hope this helps new(er) bros who have not yet been in the VoG. --------------------------------- - There are two entries into the maze (bottom of map) One coming off the loot chest off the hidden cave. The second is jumping down from the far above ledges (I don't think anyone does this one anymore) - Gorgon positions and rotations (yellow circles and yellow lines) are based on hard mode. - While I am not 100% positive of this...I do believe all the gorgons rotate in a clockwise manner. Most are 20 to 40 sec loops. - The three highlighted yellow balls, those are three gorgon's that do not appear to move. They are stationary in hard mode. - Goes without saying, the left side of the map has nine gorgon's roaming around. The right side only two. Left side trickier. - The gorgon marked by the star (near the middle) this is the toughest to maneuver around. It can be done, but it requires a series of very precise moves going past it (you don't need to get past it though in hard mode, to get out) - The rock marked by the word 'climb' is the sloped rock/ledge that you climb up on in hard mode. Run up it to get safety. Then jump to the opposing wall, and then to the ledges nearby. Work your way out then. - Exit to the VoG is the tunnel near left middle, blue highlighted area. - Not going to say the map is to scale, but in this case, it's pretty close.

I am at loss of what words to use for describing the greatness and dedication committed to make these maps. We need to find ways to fully take advantage of this. Next order of business: everybody turn on "blind" and "deaf" scorpion modifiers, run through the maze 1 at a time using just this map, and whoever made it with the shortest time will be honored as SOTW (Scorpion Of The Week)

The maze was tricky to do. I was watching the football game and mapping the maze as the same time (during commercial breaks I would sprint into new areas and map it) The way they designed it, when you run in the opposite direction it completely messes up your orientation, making you think you are in a new area (at least for me). That made things confusing and makes the area seem bigger than what it really is. I originally had a hard time visualizing the overall 'shape' of the maze, and how the parts connected. But after doing a few sprints through it, going around the whole perimeter, it came together quickly. Then all that was left was marking the important rocks and ledges.
I am still a bit confused on the entrance to the maze. On early runs (before the hidden chest was found), people dropped into the maze from way high above. The orientation of those parts still confuses me, as well as the hidden map area next to the Oracle section.

I think this should be the last map. This might be confusing to some people, as they have never been in some of these areas. This map includes the secret areas. My thoughts? I think these rooms (I've seen it called the 'Matrix room' online, 'Jungle Ledges' and 'Dark room' are my terms)...they were the original path down to the Templar's area. I think Bungie then pulled the plug, and made it easier by putting in the side ledges that go around the caves (top portion of the map). I say this also, because this area is called the 'Templar's Well'. These rooms were made first. If you are in them, it is a well. You can see up above to light coming in, where water falls down. So I think this was always the real intended route. To start. The bottom left portion of the map, that is the Vault entrance from the garden. After you run down the tunnel for a while, you get to the first inner area where the first loot chest is. This is also the spot where the secret door is, underneath the platform. This is a VERY tricky jump to do. You have to jump out and away, ....and then time a glide move into a hallway underneath the platform. Your momentum is key, needing to be moving forward. It takes timing. Once inside this passage way, you need to do a lot of jumping. IAt the end of the matrix room, far right side of the room on the map, you will do a BIG jump down to a far away platform. This is a one way trip (I think). I am not sure if you can get back up to this spot. You then work your way through the jungle room and dark room, making a lot of jumps. You can work the above route backwards. Going from the Templar's room, and working your way in reverse. You need to do some tough jumps from the sniping platform, blind jumps around the cliff. See the arrows. But....I am not aware of any routes through the one-way jump down spot. There is a secret area behind the Templar's platform too. There's A LOT still to find up there.

My journeyloved these maps. The area behind the templar was actually our original way to get to the gorgon's maze before the 5th chest was discovered. All you have to do is jump into the pit and hover before you land. However doing this misses our on the 5th chest so that route has become obsolete. Hey IW... are we gonna get some sweet TDB cartography?

Hey IW... are we gonna get some sweet TDB cartography? The beginning of this video... what is that area? A few days ago, I was in the ishtar cliffs and some guys opened up this big gate. I entered it and they disappeared. Then I got in this area with this massive pit that I racked up 10 misadverture deaths doing. Is that area of the maze of the VoG that I entered?
