Exotic engrams from Xur, assuming he has one (he doesn't this week). He used to have one every week, but since the DLC it they've scaled that back for some reason. He only has them half the time now it seems like. They have been scaled back probably because the Cryptarch can decode the engram to DLC items for non-DLC users. Bungie would hate to have players getting DLC gear this way. You cannot even buy anything from Xur that is DLC until you have bought the DLC. Sounds logical but Borderlands 2 allowed you to trade gear tied to DLC, you just could never equip them instead.

Told by veteran warlock friends regarding Obsidian's Mind build: 1) Max on Intellect 2) Use Bad Juju Also, IMHO Voidwalker is a hidden gem. It's abilities feel well into each other: Soul Rip: Energy Drain -> Nova Bomb cool down The Hunger: Increases the duration of the Energy Drain effect Embrace the Void: Damaging enemies with Nova Bomb or any grenade triggers the Energy Drain effect Put all of above together on a max intellect build with either high strength or high discipline, you'll have a crowd control powerhouse. Witty.... yer talking dirty to me again.......... me gusta You keep this up, I might even do the fuggin' Crucible to actually get the Bad Juju....... Does anyone have a cigarette? Anyone..... anyone.......

One thing I missed: Axion Bolt is dirty, easily the most aggressive among the target seeking nades.

Yeah, Marco. Let's get these things tonight and hit IB over the weekend. Mebbe I should grind out my strikes if I'm gonna need Crucible for Bad Juju, I could finish that part in Iron Banner I bet.

I've been using this same build with Skull of Dire Ahamkara, but swapping Annihilate in for The Hunger, as the Skull gives you The Hunger for free (not explicitly stated, but that's what it means by "your siphoning abilities are improved"). Skull also gives you increased super energy for killing enemies with a grenade, so the whole build really flows together nicely with grenades, melees, and supers all helping recharge each other in some way or another. Lots of fun.

I gotta shout out Xur for keeping that inventory so tight this week. I bought the Obsidian, the Glasshouse, and a couple Ice Breakers.
The Glasshouse looks like the go-to Titan helmet for boss fights, particularly Atheon.

I have the Saint-14 as well, and will likely use that the majority of the time I'm running with my Titan, but the Glasshouse will definitely see situational use. If you're killing mobs and they're going to enter your bubble, then Saint-14 is the way to go. If you're just shooting at a boss (not getting many kills, no one entering the bubble) then switch to the Glasshouse.

Ended up buying the Expansion Pass since more of my friends have it so I got the Glasshouse and the Obsidian Mind. Glasshouse will be useful for Atheon since I did HM Raid (first ever run, got a load of gear) last Tuesday.

Who needs Titan helmets when you have Ruin Wings? Heavy ammo for days. Wreck anything you want with rockets...mobs, bosses, doesn't matter. Ammo drops everywhere and you get 4-5 rockets at a time. Having Weapons of Light for longer doesn't mean a thing when you send an endless stream of Gjallarhorn rockets at Atheon. Not to mention during the Atheon fight you pretty much have endless supers. If your bubble runs out, put up another one....or two....or five.

so.... this past week..... let's look back.
Other than not selling an exotic engram this week... could one argue that this is the best quality week Xur has had? I'm don't know about the hunter or titan gear... but from what I've read on the internet, this was one of Xur's finest endeavors to the tower

How popular was the Ice Breaker last week, you may wonder? Wonder no more. From Bungie's weekly update: Xur made a huge profit of earning almost 20 million strange coins from this one weapon. This guy is redefining what "filthy rich" means Might be too late to start the prediction game for this week, but I am gonna do it anyway The billion coin question: Is he going to offer any of the 3 most desired exotic items this week, namely Gjallarhorn, Heart of Praxic Fire, or Saint-14? We all know the answer would be no . So a more practical question: is he going to offer exotic helmet or chest engrams so we can try our own luck on getting Heart or Saint?

This week:
Xur inventory: Mk. 44 Stand Asides, Radiant Dance Machines, Starfire Protocol, No Land Beyond, Helm Engram
Armor upgrades: Knucklehead, Symbiote, Inmost Light, Crest of Alpha Lupi (Titan), Light Beyond Nemesis, Sunbreakers
Weapon upgrades: Bad Juju, Invective, Universal Remote, Thunderlord, Gjallarhorn, Truth, Hawkmoon
Analysis:
1) nothing great 2) Hunter's Radiant Dance Machine boots is offered for the first time; 3) Helm Engram is probably the only thing noteworthy 4) None of the armors, new or refurbished, have great stats rolls. The best offers are at 140ish range (radiant dance machine=147 strength, Crest of Alpha Lupi=144 Intellect) 5) no heavy ammo synthesis again
"Good" news: you can save your currency for future use, not bad for bros who went broke after last week's big sale.

And each of his four items for sale require DLC again. I have the DLC but this is BS. Don't think I will be getting the second game because of how vanilla players are being treated.

I bought Radiant Dance Machines and tried my luck on Helm engram for my quest on Saint-14, the latter offered plenty of suspense as I was running laps between Xur and Cryptarch:) First trip - Hunter ATS/8 ARACHNID, a poor one that I don't have, happy-ish Second trip - Warlock Obsidian Mind, would have been great had I not bought it last week. The good news is that the new one has slighly better stats roll (let's face it, the one on sale last week was crappy stats roll wise), not too upset especially since I have not invested anything towards upgrading the last helm, so I can shard it without any sense of attachment Third trip - Hunter Mask of the Third Man, significant better stats roll than the one I already have, but I will have to throw away my full progress on the old one. At this point I have 60 motes left, a bit discouraged, but determined to keep going because there could be weeks before I see Helm Engram again. Fouth trip - Saint-14! The crowd (that's me) went wild 92 motes spent, got 2 new helmets, 2 stats roll upgrade and 1 net exotic shard gain, pretty good. Now I finally got this helm, I am sure Xur is going to sell it next week. So good news for everybody else... Time to horde motes again and wait for chest engrams, probably my only chance to get Heart of Praxic Fire.

Before I say anything, I admit that I am biased since I am determined to buy all DLCs as long as I am playing this game. That said, I don't think that "vanilla" players should be too upset. Why? Because there are limited vanilla items and they will be exhausted sooner or later for any vanilla players who are actively playing this game. Not to mention that most of the vanilla players probably have stopped playing. Let's face it: there are not much excitement they can get from this game without the DLC. Lets assume the above is not true and there are still a lot of vanilla players out there. What would they have to use the exotic weapons/armor to fight against? The most difficult enemies are capped at level 30. Level 31 players can walk all over these enemies with 331 attack vanguard weapons.

Vanilla players should still not be without daily and weekly events. They paid full price for a game, they should get the full content they paid for. When DLC is in rotation an alternative should be given to vanilla players regardless. If the film or music industry did something similar there would be outrage and Bungie knows they can get away with bad practice because gamers are weak willed in giving up the game and there isn't much competition for loot driven games if you have upgraded to current gen, although may be players might jump ship to Borderlands when that gets remastered for current gen. All three games and all DLC on one disc from what I've heard, and you can copy your 360 game save to the XB1 so no more refarming for gear you earned on previous gen. As for Xur, four items of vanilla items and four items that require DLC to use would be better. That way he might be less relevant than he is already. All it is doing is adding to the artificial life of the game that is already in place of the caps in the game. Starfire Protocol are the new Voidfang Vestments btw.

I agree the DLC weekly is crappy for vanilla players. But again, it is not the end of the world for them to take a break once every 6 weeks, since there are not that much excitement they can get from this game anyway.
Daily is an even smaller deal, not to mention they are usually not a great investment of game play time from ROI point of view.

It has been confirmed DLC is in rotation only once every six weeks? Quite sure we had it twice in three weeks.
The thing with excluding vanilla players from the daily is people will use that as a justification for putting Ascendant Materials as a reward for Nightfall or some other nonsense.

On the topic of Titans, although they have had every exotic now, it has been some time since they were sold the Helm of Saint-14 and I imagine that is sought after for Raids. Used it against Sardon for an easy kill, and judging from the daily story mission I did, it appears the Vex are not as affected by the bubble than the Hive.
I will try and look into the probability of the chances of being sold, say, four DLC items. That has to be pretty low and it has already happened twice. It wouldn't surprise me if the Ice Breaker was sold to mitigate against ammo issues in this game. I'd hate to have to enter the menus to access a synthesis pack in the Raid unless I am in the safe room when fighting the Templar. Swapping out the stupid emote functions on the d-pad could have solved this easily. And then Bungie could just reduce the cooldown on the packs as respite for not being able to (if you take their word for it) fix the ammo bug. Funny, when the game cheeses you, you have to lump it. When you cheese the Raid, Bungie hates it.

I definitely agree that vanilla players shouldn't be shut out of daily, weekly, and nightfall missions. But I don't know if I'd call it "content". It's just a rehashed mission with some modifiers and bonus rewards...
The movie industry pretty much literally does exactly the same thing. What do you call DVD extras? It's an expansion pack for a movie. You pay extra and you get extra stuff. Okay so in this case it's something that was originally included in the standard version and now randomly is only available to the special edition. It's still not really "content". It's not like they cut out a pivotal scene in a movie.
Anyway... Not really defending it, I'm just saying that I think people blow it out of proportion. It sucks and it shouldn't be that way, but it's really not a huge deal. Personally I think they should drop the price on TDB. Maybe not until the next one comes out or something, but at some point they should just make it dirt cheap or even just give it away. I actually have no problem with the DLC being just a license to get the content early and it becoming free a year or six months after release or so. It would help keep the community together if you could ensure the content would eventually be universal.

Just buy the pack.
Think about it. The price you pay ($20?), ...good lord, look at the time that will be spent on it. Legit fun time and all the wasted hours we slave away being addicted at this game. The $ per hour you will get out of that, is ridiculously freaking cheap compared to EVERYTHING else a person does in life. Take your wife to a movie, with a snack. You are spending $10 an hour. Destiny? You are probably spending 7 to 10 cents an hour for the DLC. Where the hell can you buy amusement like that?
No where.

Yes but with films those extras do not interfere with the standard edition. Bungie's aggressive nature towards DLC does just this. If it was a subscription based game I could see the logic behind it somewhat. Rather than screw over vanilla players out of playing most of their game, how about making purcahsing the DLC more attractive? Give people who own the DLC to run two Nigthfalls and Weekly Heroics when the DLC is in rotation per character. They can do this in the menu screen by adding 'nodes' and shade them out when the DLC is not in rotation, just like Iron Banner. I mean Nightfall does not guarantee an exotic or even a legendary anyway, and are extra Strange Coins really that unfair when Xur has a limited stock that is often repeated anyway? And since TDB launched, vanilla players may only be able to heavy ammo synthesis packs if that as he does not always sell them each week.
Now if Nightfall actually guaranteed an exotic or a legendary (excluding engram) only then the reduced chance of playing it would be less of an issue as there would be less grinding required to get your gear. Then you can actually 'earn' your gear rather than hope on some merchant who is only around for 48 hours and then 'just buy it' instead. But I see this policy more to continue the grind, same with Xur not selling heavy ammo synthesis packs each week. This is why I only played Iron Banner once. The burden on the cost of Glimmer is too much and Bungie seems oblivious by giving me constant reminders when the event is on just because I haven't played. Even DeeJ was caught farming the Exclusion Zone for Glimmer.
