You can only buy each buff once per Trials Passage.
I read you can actually buy the boon of Osiris multiple times! Not many people know about it apparently. You can only re-buy it if you lost the game though.
Since I have been to the lighthouse three times last saturday, while I am mediocre at crucible, I will share some thoughts.
1. You don't have to be real good to do good. I have been very rusty, as I can only game for limited times during the weekends last months, and while this puts you in awkward positions sometimes, you can reduce the effect of it to a minimum. I have had moments where I hit my first two thorn bullets, and missed the other 7... This sucks, but you gonna do bad from time to time anyway. The most important thing is to NOT get upset by it. Getting upset by ANYTHING is your biggest opponent in this game mode.
2. Use the weapon you are most accustomed to. If you don't have such a weapon, use Thorn / The last word. But again, if you prefer other weapons, use them! A friend of mine likes Bad Juju in crucible, and he did fine in ToO with it!
3. Know your weaknesses. This is a really important one for mediocre players like myself. We beat some teams who were clearly better crucible players than us, but simply outplayed them. If you get one-shotted by snipers in the first two rounds. Simply don't look. Suck up that pride, acknowledge they snipe better than you. Don't look! Just don't Look! I can't emphasis this enough. DONT LOOK! Really, DONT look!
4. Try to get the better position, and camp like a bitch. We tried to get the middle room asap, and camped like a little bitch. It might feel dirty, but it is actually the objective. Allot of teams seemed to camp the cave room, as there is loads of sneaky using mind bullets cover in there. We let them, we simply didn't look around the corner, and let them come to us.
5. Flanking can be a very effective tool, but be sure to attack from two sides simultaneously. Coordinate attacks over chat.
6. Flanking can be countered easily. Once you notice a team is sending a single flanker, PUSH HIM. With your whole team. You will get a 3 vs 1 scenario you will most probably win. After that simply camp his ghost until ~ 15 seconds before the timer runs out. Only then you can move away and push the objective.
7. Stay close to each other (unless you are doing a coordinated flank). Destiny is no COD. TTK is allot higher, so 2 vs 1 gunfights are really important. As reviving is a thing, it is even more important. A player who dies 5 seconds away from the other members of the team simply cannot be revived unless the opponents are stupid and don't rush the ghost with the whole team.
8. Use the grenades you are most accustomed to. For warlocks/blade dancers it is either stuck grenades, or bolt grenades. Only use bolt grenades if you hit the opponent a few times to finish them of. OR if you are hit hard and want to avoid the enemy from rushing you. Tripmines and lightning grenades are also very decent for this.
9. Save supers like Fists of panic and nova bomb to counter enemy supers. Use other supers asap (don't waste them though). The longer you have your super full, the more super energy gets wasted. And you won't be dropping orbs for your team mates.
10. Camp Sunsinger ghosts with a shotgun. Once you see them self-ress simply give them the shotgun-melee combo. They will die instantly.
11. If you notice that the other team has better gunskill, go for the least populated heavy ammo drop. The effect of gunskill is greatly reduced with rockets. ALWAYS use rockets with proximity detonation (Dead orbit has a very good one for sale).
12. Push the enemy ghosts if they only have 1/2 players left. Don't let them get that revive.
13. You have to be a little bit lucky with your opponents. If you meet a few pro teams, don't get frustrated. Just try to get to the 8-3 or discard your passage and start over. Don't get frustrated about it. There will always be players who are better than you.
14. Play it dirty if you need to. Camp if you need to. Crouch with a shotgun in a corner if you have to. This is trials, it is not only about gunskill. You are allowed to use your brain.
15. Don't get frustrated if you get single killed by a super. Supers are just as valuable as lives, if not more valuable. Also keep track of enemy supers, know what you can aspect.
16. Call out enemy supers! Especially hunters. And simply try to run away. If it is too late for that, camp around a corner with a shotgun against gunslingers (they loose their biggest advantage, OHK at range). Against bladedancers, don't panic. Try to hit them once with your primary and than wait for them with your shotgun/melee combo, most of the time you will get the kill trade.
17. Communicate and don't ever get frustrated with each other. Morale is very important in ToO.
18. Try to avoid firefights if you are not at full health. I know it can take a while to get back to health, but a single player dying is loosing against strong teams.
19. Play with people you know and practice with them. Playing good as a team is just as important as doing good yourself.
20. Once you kill one opponent, try to camp that ghost with the whole team. They have to come to you. Don't go hunting the last players, as they can run around and end up killing one of your team members who got separated, or simply run around and revive their teammates.
21. Use at least one keeper of the pack exotic. That fast revive is very very powerful. You can easily revive somebody while under fire by one player. You will almost always survive it, and if you don't, you at least revived your teammate. Lucky raspberry and Void fang are also very potent. As you will get your grenades up every round AND every time you get revived!!
22. Switch exotics, if you are using another exotic armour than voidfang/raspberry, switch once you are dead. It will make you spawn with grenades and then you can switch back immediately. This also goes for exotic boosting exotics. Don't use them the whole game, because you will most likely only be using your super 1-2 rounds. Switch to them once you (almost) get your super.
23. Titans have the weakest PvP exotics. Armentarium is nice and all, but after the first round you will almost never have a double grenade. So this is a good place for the Keeper of the pack exotic. An additional bonus is also that it is the only class with intelect on their keeper of the pack exotic.
24. Try to get intelect and discipline to the max. Being lvl 33 with full intelect and discipline is way better than being lvl 34 with full str.
25. Inspect players before the game. If you see three snipers and you have one or none, don't get into the sniper lanes! Sure you can win gunfights against snipers with thorn from time to time, but most of the time you won't! Don't get cocky.
26. Did I say don't look once you notice you are up against better gunskill players? Well, DON'T LOOK!
See you in the lighthouse Guardians!
