If you are following my recent posts in the best headset thread over in the CoD subforum, then you'll know that I recently bought an Astro MixAmp Pro to go with my MS standard issue stereo headset. Just had everything setup (pretty straight forward) and jumped into the Nightfall, holy crap, with Dolby output turned on and MixAmp providing simulated surround sound, the audio in this game is incredibly rich! Did not know what I was missing until now. If you are also thinking about improving the audio of your gaming experience, look no further than the MixAmp, which is praised by a lot of gamers, and can go with any standard stereo headset you prefer. $130 is definitely worth it. AMA if you are intrigued. I was planning to shed ~$200+ on audio, now I don't really need to. The money saved probably can into an XONE Elite Controller ($150, out on 10/27), it sure looks very nice...

I used to use the Mix Amp with TB X41s on the 360.

My ps4 gold headset is falling apart and being held together by packing tape. Which is SUPER disappointing given how indestructible the PS3 counterpart was.
I 'll probably be in the market for one soon. I assume that if I ditch wireless capability, any good gaming headset can plug into the slot on the PS4 controller?

The problem with PS4 for me is that party chat cannot be sent through normal audio, only through the controller plug. Which totally sucks if you don't have a mix amp.
I use my digitial audio receiver to create dolby headphones and amplify my headphones. Which gives me better sound quality than the mixamp did I tried once. Problem is, I cant hear my teammates...
Might be able to fix it with an USB amp, but as destiny is not THAT important sound wise, I just put the headphones directly into the controller for now.
If I like the next COD, AND sound is important in that game (footsteps) I might try to fix the issue. It is really a shame they can't simply mix it in game though...

As mentioned in the other thread. Somewhere there's an updated menu item that allows you to port the party-chat audio through the TV output (which in your case are the headphones connected to the AV)
As long as you have a mic running 'somehow' you should be OK.
(I Think)
