Have you confirmed that the public events aren't giving out rewards? Because that tweet doesn't seem to reference public events at all, it's just talking about patrols, and I assume the rep/materials/whatever you'd normally get from completing those. I'm still at like 25% download progress (yay rural Missouri internet!) so I can't check for myself. Confirmed: patrol activities are not rewarding anything. First daily public event finish on the other hand appear to still reward package. Not 100% positive though, so if you already have 20 packages saved up, don't burn them. And FYI, all known issues of patch 2.0: www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/152554085/0/0Some players reported that completing subclass quests may not give you the rewards. So do not finish them until after 09/15. www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2015/09/10/destiny-s-latest-patch-has-some-issues-right-now-so-don-t-do-your-subclass-quests.aspxUPDATE: this is actually working as intended:

Just prepurchased The Taken King digital version on XBox live, installed the pack, went to Tower, and got a special delivery at post master, it gave me the Suros emblem and shader:

Also, pledge Faction allegiance will reward you faction rep IN ADDITION to vanguard rep (did not try Crucible but should be the same thing).
On my character that did Nightfall, the 2500XP/50rep reward bounty gave 62 vanguard reps and 31 faction reps.
Normally this is a good thing, but bros who are edging reps should be aware and take extra caution.

This is what Bungie said on this:
Basically, if you preordered (most likely have to be a digital prepurchase to even have the option to install the Suros Pack) you may or may not get them this week, guaranteed next week.

Question to all bros who have played this week: how do you feel about Year 2 so far?
My impressions in one sentence: lots of little changes working together to provide a significantly smoother, more streamlined experience (of shooting various enemies with all kinds of weapons).
It also feels like players now have a lot more freedom of doing what they want to do, much less of doing what leveling/loot force us to do.

Few points I guess: 1. Pity they gave no notice to phasing out the Speaker class items. Some of those, mostly Hunter capes, were quality. But then Bungie decided to add functional uses to them so I guess not being able to wear them is less of a deal. I wore my Strength of the Pack cloak in the Vault today with Chatterwhite and it goes well with my armour. Who needs Revenant? 2. The Field Scout nerf to Corrective Measure possibly puts a bigger focus on having the Vision of Confluence to save reloading the Correct Measure when not all of the Oracles have been killed during Atheon. People will still run the old content for the exotic chances and I guess the Playstation exclusives are going to be a global drop when TTK drops. Ice Breaker ammo regen nerf didn't stop cheesing Oracles because I ended up getting +1 ammo fir it at times, which is in addition to the standard ammo recreation function. Apparently the Field Scout nerf also gimped Thunderlord because it never reaches its maximum fire rate as it should because it has already burned through the magazine before reaching maximum rate of fire. However, I've heard this is addressed in the year 2 version but then you need the Marks for it and we don't know how frequently we can earn those. 3. I like the bounty system. I've had a few Strange Coins and Motes of Light so I guess actively playing the game across the spectrum will be more productive. It also allows people to stockpile bounties for synergy purposes, which might be handy for people who don't play much PvP. 4. The vault space is good. So I guess I can browse through the archives on Reddit and amuse myself with people complaining about last generation is holding the game back? The kiosks mean I can discard shaders until I find them matching appropriate armour as a lot of people look ridiculous. 5. Not sure I like the fact that max level cannot be achieved by players without TTK. Chances are I will get it but I think level 34 vs level 40 in Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris need to be looked at. This also creates a problem where Nightfalls will probably be level 40 even if the strikes are not from TTK. There's no reason to insist Nightfalls matching the level of the Raids as there is no considerable benefit of being over-leveled, such as one shotting enemies etc. With the three House of Wolves maps becoming free I suspect Trials of Osiris will now require TTK to play anyway.

I am pretty sure that the class items sold by Speaker are now purchasable at Vauguards. I could be wrong though. EDIT: just checked, Hunter vanguard is selling "Wetwork" and "Fixer", probably not the ones sold by Speaker. Who knows, maybe once Year 2 starts either Speaker or Vanguards will be selling good looking class items again...
Corrective Measure is nice for killing oracles, but unfortunately it has to compete with Gjallarhorn. As a result, I always run VoC + Found Verdict / Prateorian Foil + Gjallarhorn. I agree though that Field Scout nerf is unfortunate. I have a Jolder's Hammer with it and it was perfect for the multi kill IB bounty (no longer applicable though since it will no longer work in IB any more).
Legendary marks are dropped by plenty activities: 1) Heroic strike playlist (the one to replace weekly heroic, and the first a few runs each week will earn bonus marks), 2) (I believe) whatever activities that used to drop vanguard and crucible marks).
Are you sure TTK is required to reach level 40? I never read it anywhere. The only thing I am aware of is that the cap will be raised to 40 when TTK drops, and I assume it is for everybody, with or without TTK.

I am pretty sure that the class items sold by Speaker are now purchasable at Vauguards. I could be wrong though. I checked and they're not there. I'd have bought all of the Speaker class items if I knew this since I have about 2,411 Motes of Light anyway. I even checked what was likely to be disappearing and these seem to have been forgotten about. Corrective Measure is nice for killing oracles, but unfortunately it has to compete with Gjallarhorn. As a result, I always run VoC + Found Verdict / Prateorian Foil + Gjallarhorn. This assumes you have all of those available. I had the Corrective Measure before all the others (except Foil which I still have not got) so I use that ahead of Gjallarhorn because it's handy for breaking detainment shields, dealing with Harpies and Oracles, and you can't blow yourself up with a machine gun. I think some people (not you) have just defaulted to Gjallarhorn out of laziness. It's the same with Crota's End when any tracking rocket launcher is fine. The only time I joined a Crota run requiring a Gjallarhorn was a friend who was the only one with a tracking rocket and he was the Swordbearer. I have never entertained PvE sessions via 'LFG' that make something mandatory when it is, in fact, not mandatory at all (I made an exception to Trials once but it was a case of the host not being informed of how light level works because he's not on Reddit etc). Only time I use the Gjallarhorn in the Vault of Glass is the Oracles stage prior to the Templar because I always plant myself on the left Conflux, and the Gatekeeper for taking out the Hydras in the two portals. Machine guns are my favourite weapon type though. If I get another VoG HM run I'll try out my BTRD and upgrade it to 365 attack and see how that performs. Are you sure TTK is required to reach level 40? I never read it anywhere. The only thing I am aware of is that the cap will be raised to 40 when TTK drops, and I assume it is for everybody.[/quote] www.bungie.net/en/News/News?aid=13474

If TTK is indeed required to unlock level 40 as claimed, then it blows. Don't understand why they choose to do that.

Looks like the Discipline / Strength / Intellect effects of the existing armor pieces are pretty trashy after the update, is that right?
Pre-patch I used to have good armor sets that nearly max out both Intellect and Discipline, but now I struggle to even bring one stats to >= tier 3 (while the other is stuck in tier 1).
Also, how can I find out the light level of an individual weapon / armor? EDIT: never mind, weapon / armor don't have light level, they have attack / defense numbers. Character light = average of attack / defense. The average is probably a weighted average (e.g.: ghost shell has a much smaller weight), because otherwise the number does not quite add up.

Character light = average of attack / defense. The average is probably a weighted average (e.g.: ghost shell has a much smaller weight), because otherwise the number does not quite add up. On the light calculation formula, looks like it is as simple as the following: 1) 10 pieces of gear contribute to the calculation: 3 weapons, 4 armor pieces, 1 ghost shell, 1 class item, 1 artifact (not euippable until level 40); 2) each piece has equal weight of 0.1: contibuting light = attack/defense / 10 For example: a weapon of 170 attack contibutes 17 light an armor of 160 defense contributes 16 light a class item of 180 defense contributes 18 light 3) the only exceptions to the rule above are Year 1 legacy Ghost shells, which have a defense of 3 (Bungie probably forgot about them in the renormalization process). They seem to contribute 18 light, which is consistent with the Year 2 shells currently on sale at Speaker, which have defense of 160 - 180. If the above are correct, the highest light a pre TTK guardian can reach is: 17*3: from pre TTK 365 attack weapons + 17*4: from pre TTK 42 light armors + 18: from legacy Year 1 ghost shells + 18: from class items rewarded when starting subclass quests = sum: 155

My three characters range from 164 up to 166, and that's without having all 170 weapons equipped, and with a 150 or 140 class item equipped. I'm pretty sure artifacts don't count (or don't count until you have one equipped, at least), which is throwing your numbers off. Only 9 pieces are contributing instead of 10.

That's weird, I have been equipping 160/170 weapons/attacks on my characters and the best I can reach is 155 ( check out my Warlock at Destiny tracker, which has 170 weapons/armors, 180 class item, and the legacy ghost shell). I checked your loadouts on destiny tracker and looks like the main difference is that you are using the new Ghost shells from the Speaker while I am still using the legacy shells. Based on my experiment of switching weapons / armors / class items of different stats, it did seem to me that the 0.1 weight on them is at least close to be correct (e.g.: by switching from 120 to 180, I gain 6 light) . The mystery is now around how ghost shell works. I'll get some new shells (ideally with different stats) and experiment. BTW, looks like 240 is the recommended light level for end game content.

Looked at a few examples on Destiny Tracker, and seems to me that the light is calculated in the following manner:
With legacy shells: 0.1 * primary_weapon_attack + 0.1 * special_weapon_attack + 0.1 * heavy_weapon_attack + 0.1 * helmet_defense + 0.1 * gauntlet defense + 0.1 * chest_defense + 0.1 * boots_defense + 0.1 * class_item_defense + 18
With 170 defense Year 2 shells: 0.1 * primary_weapon_attack + 0.1 * special_weapon_attack + 0.1 * heavy_weapon_attack + 0.1 * helmet_defense + 0.1 * gauntlet defense + 0.1 * chest_defense + 0.1 * boots_defense + 0.1 * class_item_defense + 33
Bros: let me know if you have a character that does not conform the above formula.

FYI for bros who were not aware:
If you are working on faction rep edging, you can now do it by "donate" the following:
Mote of Light Old armor material New armor material Weapon parts Special ammo Heavy ammo
Armor material could be the best choice because it is probably the most abundant among resource/currency, at least for me (currently I am looking at ~2000 once the 3 class specific materials are converted into the new unified armor material).
On a related note: when TTK is dropped you can exchange old Vanguard / Crucible marks into commendations, which can be used to level up Vanguard / Crucible / Faction rankings. You can also consider doing some last minute HoW weapon shopping with them, or exchange them into planet mats.

I think I like it (the new voice) but, bloody hell, it's a bit camp at times. I think I preferred "disinterested-stoner-dinklebot" to "Oh my-that's a big one-'big-bang-theory' bot"

I have no clue what's going on I'm just following the main story line. I haven't worked out the marks or exchanges yet. As expected the 'Early Access Suros' stuff is pretty pointless. I got dropped some blues very early on.
