Based on the discussions we had over at current Xur thread, going forward we will have weekly threads to talk about things that vary by week. This is the first one to see how well it works. Any bros can raise any weekly related topics to be discussed, including but not limited to:
1) Nightfall;
2) Crucible bounties;
3) Armsday;
4) Xur;

Just did the Nightfall with Pegasus Actual and another friend (feefeefirst, for HSV1 bros who know him), it is: SABRE strike with the following modifiers:
Void Burn Berserk (= Angry in Y1) Specialist TrickleThe opening part of defending the warsat is very challenging, and it took us countless wipes and a whole bunch of heavy ammo packs to get through (and as always, I am the weakest link in the fireteam ). The key is to bring void RL and kill most of the enemies before they even drop from the ship. Some tough enemies will survive the initial blast, including several "very invisible" vandals that can kill you with 1-2 shots of their solar burn "Shrapnal Launcher" before you even notice them sneaking up on you. They are best dealt with void RLs and void shotties. The tricky part is your fireteam needs to clear each ship before the next one arrives, which is much easier said than done. But once you are able to coordinate your void RL barrage effectively, you'll be able to get through it. After that, things can feel like a breeze. The final fight can be done very quickly (which we did not, and again because I was dying way too much) if your fireteam are able to focus your void SR + RL fire on SABRE and slain it before the adds can even have a chance to overwhelm you. The NF rewards are extremely disappointing for such a demanding effort (that requires a well coordinated fireteam of 3, basically a mini-raid). I got 10 strange coins, while the others got some rather useless purple stuff. They did get exotic engrams from ToC, which I forgot to pop (word of advice: pop ToC as soon as you start the strike). Not sure if ToCs are more effective in NF, my suspicion is that they are not but who knows. In terms of number of players: I can't see how it is even possible to solo this strike. Even 2 players can feel quite tough. In general, I suspect Bungie is trying to separate "challenging team activities" from "looting": the NF is mainly for former, and the ToCs / exotic weapon quests / Xur are for latter.

Is the 'Defend the Warsat' the same as a public event? I mean - they're easy as you just leave one alive and 'Benny Hill' around in a circle for as long as you possibly can

The ships will keep coming at you , and many things are great menace: 1) Ship cannon, arc damage, can kill you in 1-2 shots; (tried to shoot at the cannon, but even 2 void RL shots on void burn can't take it out) 2) Invisible vandal as mentioned above; 3) Snipers: double snipe = death; And the Warsat has a timer, so if you leave it unattended, you will fail once the timer runs out. Solution: clear each ship before the next arrives, and stay in the Warsat circle while doing that. Can't see any other way.

FYI: game mode Zone Control and Inferno Skirmish are live in Crucible.
And Trials of Osiris will be soon:
Hopefully with updated loot.

I think updated loot is a given. I noticed that the Zone Control list is rewarding 10 Legendary marks today, in addition to the 15 Marks from the daily PvP (which is Rift today). Not sure if that's one time per character or per account as I didn't have enough time at lunch to jump in there. I'll have to check Inferno Skirmish as well.

Zone Control is the "first ever weekly featured playlist", and it is giving bonus marks:
Hebb, you mentioned getting 15, while the tweet responses are saying 20 per win (0 for loss).
Looks like Bungie is aiming for a symmetric reward system for PvE vs. PvP:
Daily Heroic vs. Daily PvP: marks Weekly Heroic Strike Playlist vs. Weekly Featured PvP Playlist: bonus marks Nightfall vs. Weekly PvP bounties: NF level rewards Raid vs. Trials of Osiris (coming back soon): raid level drops (?)

Also, news on the NF rewards front: based on what I saw on Reddit, looks like the NF rewards differ based on player's light level. If a player has reached 300+ light (through raid drops) and then play NF, he has a chance to get 310 exotics.
So defer your Nightfall if you plan to raid.
In general: the above design is significant: having Nightfall level rewards light level dependent on Guardian's light level will make NF appealing again, otherwise with Xur purchases and ToC drops players will see little reason to run NF, especially they are now pretty tough to beat without a well coordinated fireteam.

It would be okay if they didn't make the quest requirements to unlock Shaxx's bounties beyond ridiculous.

Tried out the Daily and Weekly PvP events today. That Zone Control brings back memories of playing Domination in older CoD's...might have to play that more this week.
Got a 266 light rare ghost shell from my first match in Rift...that helped me quite a bit!

This week's order

The cannons can be easily shot of the ships in the warsat phase of the nightfall. Just use a special weapon. I used an solar fusion and only needed like 2/3 rounds for the cannons. It it THE key to this fight imho. We wiped for like 5 times before figuring this out, and then we did the NF 3 times in a row.

Duh, should have thought about using a special void weapon because of Specialist... I now have a 300 attack Telesto and two more characters to run NF with. Will try it out after raid (hoping to get my guardians over 300 to get that 310 exotic drop. I can always hope )

One good place to farm Centurions for the SR field test:

One good place to farm Centurions for the SR field test: Majors don't count towards it, btw. I did that, then grabbed the other 3 weapons and a bunch of vanguard bounties and then woke the hive.

The rank with your Gunsmith is how many guns you can order each week, i.e. rank 3 gives allows you to order 3 guns each week. Easy Legendary Marks once you get going then.

Also, it looks like the higher the rank, the more choices you have when picking up the weapon: at rank 1, you only have 1 choice; at rank 2, you have 2 choices with different perks; Next week I will know whether there will be 3 choices at rank 3
