First of all: WTF is REQ?If you are confused by REQ like I was, thess articles have everything you need to know: www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/community/blog-posts/halo-5-guardians-req-system-introductionwww.halowaypoint.com/en-us/community/blog-posts/halo-5-guardians-building-your-req-collection-part-1www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/community/blog-posts/halo-5-guardians-building-your-req-collection-part-2TL;DR version (important concepts highlighted): 1) REQ Cards reward stuff: including game impacting items like weapons, vehicles, etc, and cosmetic items like armors, weapon skins, assassination animations, etc. REQ Cards can be either Single Use or Permanent. REQ Cards have rarity: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Ultra-Rare, Legendary. Legendary items can be Mythic, which are unique and extremely rare, and Certifications are permanent REQs that, once unlocked, allow players to receive the corresponding single use REQ cards; 2) Game impacting cards can only be used in Warzone, not Arena; 3) REQ Cards are obtained through REQ Packs; 4) REQ Packs have rarities: Bronze, Sliver, Gold, Premium. Bronze = Common Single-Use, possibility of 1 permanent; Silver = common to rare, 2 permanent; Gold = large number of Rare to Legendary, 2 permanent. Premium = large number of REQs with an increased chance at receiving higher levels of rarity and more permanent REQs; 5) REQ Packs can be earned in game through (say-no-to-microtransaction options) : i) level up Spartan Rank, ii) complete commendations, iii) spending REQ Points (RPs), which are earned by playing MP games ( 1 Arena game -> ~1000 RP, 1 Warzone game -> ~ 2000 RP). Cost: Bronze = 1,250RP, Sliver = 5,000RP, Gold = 10,000RP; 6) REQ Packs can also be purchased with real money (I-have-money-to-throw-at-the-screen options): sliver = $1.99, Gold = $2.99; 7) Free giveaway to all players: Starting REQ Bundle - 54 REQ cards + 7500 RPs; 8) Promotional offer: Warzone REQ Bundle - 2 Premium Pack per week for 7 weeks, 14 total; 9) Warzone REQ Bundle can be obtained through the following editions/bundles of Halo5: i) Limited Edition, ii) Collector's Edition, iii) Limited Edition Console+game bundle, iv) Digital Deluxe Edition; The extra you need to pay to get Warzone REQ pack mentioned in 9) is ~$30, which also includes the access to the animation series "Fall of Reach". In other words, it is ~ $2 per Premium Pack, which is a much better deal on average vs. the $3 per Gold Pack, assuming that you do plan to get >= 9 Gold Packs throughout your Halo 5 career.

Is REQ Pay-to-Win?
1) The short answer: yes, sorta. If there is an OP weapon/vehicle that can only come from a very rare card, you probably won't be able to get it easily without spending any money.
2) The long answer: simply owning more powerful REQ cards (say Scorpion Tank) do not hand you an easy win in Warzone. You still need to earn the right to use them in game:
Energy Level: In Warzone, calling in Power Weapons, Vehicles, and Power Ups requires an expenditure of Energy. Each REQ Card has an Energy cost and it takes time for this resource to recharge, so spend it wisely. To balance matches and ensure players don’t simply start a match overpowered, players must earn Energy during the course of the match to unlock these single-use cards.
REQ Level: As the Warzone match progresses, the intensity of battle will escalate to a fever pitch and new implements of destruction will be unleashed. During a Warzone match, players will increase their REQ Level from 1 to 9 by taking out enemy Spartans, destroying Bosses, and completing objectives. The most powerful REQ Cards can only be redeemed during the critical final stages of the Warzone match.
"Mister Chief" (naughty cousin of Master Chief I guess?) explained the whole thing in this video:

halo.wikia.com/wiki/Mister_Chief. I expected more from you, Witty, as this board's (apparently) biggest Halo fan. I still have some Mister Chief pics saved somewhere from like 2006 I think.

I have seen the horribly drawn Chief from Frankie's posts, and never cared about him because it is a disgrace to my most favorite in game character, and did not realize it is a whole other personality.
That is until he showed up in the video, which starts to grow on me. I would love to see more videos from him.

Need advice on Reqs Packs-
First pack was a Gold, got a fancy AR with bayonet and better sight. Big downside is it requires "Req Energy Level 8" which is usually the last 2-3 minutes of a ~23 minute Warzone game.
Second Pack was a Bronze, got totally smoked on anything worth mentioning (no guarantee of permanent unlocks)
Third pack was a Silver, actually got the basic BR, which is "Req Energy Level 3" and totally useful.
So methinks the Silver Req packs are what I should be purchasing (not spending any more money on this game). Yea/Nay?

Let's see: 1) Silver costs 5,000RP, rewards = common to rare, 2 permanent; 2) Gold costs 10,000RP, rewards = large number of Rare to Legendary, 2 permanent. Tough call. You can get 2 silvers for the same RP of 1 gold, and get 4 permanent. But on the other hand you have no shot at "Legendary". Looks like one good way is just do silvers for a week or two until you have a good collection, then start betting on RNG from gold?

REQ related PSA: you can buy/open/examine REQ by going to waypoint, no need to have to wait until in-game to do that.
IMHO it is much cleaner to look at them this way, and it is less likely to "accidentally" buy something that you end up regret.
BTW: anybody knows how to "preview" assassinations? I would like to see what they look like before equipping...

General opinion on Reddit seems to be start with Bronze packs to unlock all common certifications. Then move up to Silver and Gold. Otherwise you waste tons of points on Gold only to get common certs that you would have gotten with Bronze.

FYI: Warzone bundle, the one that gives you 2 premium packs each week for 7 weeks (14 total), can now be purchased standalone on Amazon: www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0160EM6U6/34a6-20Price: $24.99 I have it as part of the Digital Deluxe version of the game. The 2 packs opened this week definitely contain substantially more stuff than the gold one I opened. Is it worth it? No idea...

I wonder if it's possible to stack purchases of the Warzone bundle; not that I would do that, but because it appears to provide greater value at a reduced cost than someone considering purchases of the GOLD or SILVER packs maybe there's some actual logic to it.

Hey, how do I know when I have all the bronze permanents so I don't have to buy bronze packs anymore? Google search is telling me the following: 1) In game: Spartan hub -> requisitions ->collections: if you have the certification, you'll see a blue marking in the corner of the card stack if that weapon/vehicle is certified. 2) Halowaypoint: Basically view your collection and select the individual card. If you have the certification for the item, it will show the certification symbol on the card:

yeah, i've seen a few of those blue markers. What does it mean once I'm certified?
The problem with those methods is that I'm not sure how I would know I have them all? Are all the unlockable permanents from Bronze packs certifications?

Just went through my collections on waypoint, and found out that I have the certification for the following (after opening the starter bundle, 4 legendary packs from Warzone bundle, and bought 6 Bronze packs using the starting 7500 RPs):
- Bolt Shot: "meh"
- Mongoose: "meh"
- Carbine: "cool I guess"
- Scout Warhog: "cool I guess"
- Damage boost I / Overshield I / : "cool"
- Ghost & Ghost Ultra: "Yes!"
- Speed Boost I & II: "Yes!!"

How do you use Damage Boost I and Overshield I. Is it like any other REQ card before you spawn in Warzone?

How do you use Damage Boost I and Overshield I. Is it like any other REQ card before you spawn in Warzone? I am the wrong person to ask as I am still working on soloing the campaign legendary. I was planning to go into Warzone in opening days but the campaign got interesting. With this close to finishing (3 missions to go) and rumored "cliff hanger" ending that I still manage to keep myself spoiler free, I decided to finish the run before moving on to MP.

i started with MP, got bored really quick, went to Co-op Campaign Heroic. We're almost done. I just finished that Swords mission.
Then I'm going to go to Warzone. I really blew out my interest in Slayer way too fast.
Here's what I hear about all this REQ stuff: it looks overwhelming and complicated but it totally isn't. I'm told that once you 'get it', it's simple as heck. I haven't sold anything yet but I imagine that becomes a routine thing.

Coming from Titanfall, using REQ cards looks very straight forward, exactly like the burn cards.

It's these permanent ones which give me pause. I'll figure it out tho.
Like I had a boost card going in Arena Slayer and it seemed to stay there for several matches. I wonder if that's normal.
