It's these permanent ones which give me pause. I'll figure it out tho. Like I had a boost card going in Arena Slayer and it seemed to stay there for several matches. I wonder if that's normal. Arena does not honor performance enhancing "drugs" (cards), probably why it stays there.

hehe, yeah but some of the "boost" cards just boost XP and look like they are specifically for Arena. There's even a prompt to activate them between matches. I just don't know if those are permanent or one-use stuffs.

My experience is that those boost cards (Arena & Warzone) have timers associated with them and as long as you remain within the lobby the timer will play out (in Arena it usually lasts for 2; maybe 3 matches if I recall correctly).

How do you use Damage Boost I and Overshield I. Is it like any other REQ card before you spawn in Warzone? Power-ups are used just like any of the one-time use REQ cards. After a death press "Y" or you can go to a REQ station in-game to select REQ items.

can you use more than one REQ card at once? Like MANTIS and DAMAGE BOOST?

i started with MP, got bored really quick, went to Co-op Campaign Heroic. We're almost done. I just finished that Swords mission. Then I'm going to go to Warzone. I really blew out my interest in Slayer way too fast. Here's what I hear about all this REQ stuff: it looks overwhelming and complicated but it totally isn't. I'm told that once you 'get it', it's simple as heck. I haven't sold anything yet but I imagine that becomes a routine thing. What in particular got boring? ...if you don't mind me asking?

I was grinding out Slayer matches and just not having fun. I used to play a lot of Halo MP in Halo 1, 2 and 3. Then I got into CoD and got used to that. Now I'm going back and it's....just....so....slow.
It requires teamwork like crazy and coordination to do well. And I'm more of a lone-wolf play-the-objective player in general. So, as an example, I like trying to control some decent part of the map in Slayer, but when you're on your own, if you come up against 2 players in Halo (or Destiny for that matter) and you don't have a power weapon, you are TOAST. You absolutely need some support. Whereas in CoD, I can come up against three or even four players and if the skill gap is wide enough, I can put them all down on my own. I just can't do that in Halo unless I have a vehicle or power weapon.
So Slayer becomes a little mundane, trying to stick with my teammates who, for the most part, won't coordinate with me and such. It makes it more like Battlefield where you need to be playing with friends to have a good time.
All that makes it so that many of my matches become extremely samey and that gets boring for me.
I'm going to give it another big shot after I finish co-op campaign. I'll spend lots of time in Warzone and then try to do five matches in all the modes (yay for those achievements that force you to try different things). Maybe I'll find a mode that I like. In CoD, I love Domination cuz of all the action, as an example. I only started enjoying TDM once I got good at the game. But i'm not there at all in Halo V yet so maybe starting with Slayer was a mistake.

can you use more than one REQ card at once? Like MANTIS and DAMAGE BOOST? I believe you might be limited to one One-Time use REQ item, but then again maybe not as I've not tested this. Maybe you could pair two lower level Power Weapons, Power-Ups, or a Vehicle together, but the thing you have to remember is that you have a limited amount of REQ points to tap into and that will likely limit any potential pairings (if pairings are possible). A Mantis I think requires 8 REQ points, so I doubt you'll be able to pair that with anything really; however, maybe a Damage Boost and Ghost could be paired together or say two different Medium to lower-level Power Weapons.

But i'm not there at all in Halo V yet so maybe starting with Slayer was a mistake. Sounds like you can: 1) play SWAT solo, should give you adrenalin rush of OSK headshot kills; 2) play Breakout, which is much more tactical and closer to CoD. We should get in as a team though, because that game mode requires strong communication and teamwork. Solo'ers will get destroyed by teams; One of the major thrills of "standard" Halo comes from out BR'ing the opponents. If that's not your cup of tea, then it is probably safe to say that Halo (standard) is not your game. This is pretty common as the majority of my CoD friends have no interests in Standard Halo at all. On a side note: are you picking up BLOPS3?

Thanks for the tips, Scorp. Can always count on you I did really enjoy some of the beta for BLOPS3 but my main FPS partner is hooked on HaloV so I don't think we'll rush to get it. If I had to pick between Destiny, Halo V and BLOPS3, I'd surely go for CoD but I already have the other two so I'm good for now. But if I keep losing my shit playing Halo V MP, I'll probably make the jump to BLOPSIII Breakout sounds really fun, I should try that. It probably doesn't compare to SnD in CoD though since in that you can totally solo it and win. Obviously it's better with coordination but it's not essential.

I hear ya on the lone-wolf aspect and in regards to Halo verses twitch reflex type FPS games; it's a big reason why I've been playing with friends as much as possible. I still play Solo a decent amount and across many different game modes, but when I do I mostly focus on playing SWAT and FFA in Arena. In Halo 4 I'd go with Big Team Battle (BTB) as another mode for a lot of Solo play and Halo 5 should be getting a BTB playlist sometime soon. I've realized that Warzone hasn't really been a very good mode for Solo play because so much of that mode depends on team coordination; Warzone Assault does work much better for a Solo player but it's still not quite an ideal option -- I wish they'd give us a Regicide-like Slayer mode under Warzone.

Man, this is a friendly site. I was totally expecting after my post to get replies like, "git gud, scrub, go bak to Call of Dummies" or whatever.
I think with Warzone, it'll be really fun to make mini-squads. Like my buddy and me running little missions together, in a Mongoose, Warthog, whatever. I think those things can overcome the problem with lack of coordination amongst the bigger group.
I hear the rewards in Warzone are really good too. Even if the attacking team loses in the first 3-6 minutes, it's still a really decent reward I hear.

When I started this subforum, I totally expect that the interest in Halo 5 remains to be limited to a handful of bros, because that's how it has always been. It is for that reason that the bros who actually enjoy the game can benefit a lot more from discussions, as well as LFG, which I hope to achieve over time with this thread: denkirson.proboards.com/thread/7988/denk-clans-official-lfg-thread

I become familiar with the term through playing Destiny, since it has several activities that require a pre-assembled "fire team" (e.g.: 6 players for Raid). If you can't find friends to go in together, an alternative is to go to LFG sites and look for randoms.
It's basically the game world's equivalent of meetup.com.

blackbarney are you in the Den Kirson Spartan Company? ...or any Spartan Company? If not, you should join one to get the extra REQ pack.

Ok so I've been playing lots of Warzone and am still trying to develop a general strategy for these REQ thingies.
Obviously ONLY buy Bronze packs until you start getting a certificate for 500 REQ points or something which means you've exhausted the current supply of common permanents. This is the sign that you're ready to move up to SILVER packs.
I've been pretty much selling all common items I get except for Warthogs and random weapons, oh and any XP boosting stuff. I'm not sure if I should be selling more. Probably.
Has anyone figured out a decent tactic for how to use them in the game? When I am at the max of my current REQ level, I'll use the best item for that level I can. When my REQ level is recharging, I won't bother using anything since I'd be wasting some REQ at that point.
I REALLY like the Loadout stuff you get. You start with only an Assault Rifle and Magnum, but as you get cards, you will be able to replace your STARTING guns for the rest of the match and it doesn't even cost any REQ! You have to wait until level 3 REQ to start spawning with a BR, and level 4 REQ to start spawning with a SMG, as examples. But then they are good for the rest of the match.
I also have begun unlocking loadout weapons with attachments and this is where this website is really going to shine, determining which of these combos is best. (like the perk rolls in Destiny). For instance I now have an Assault Rifle with silencer, and another one with Stablization Jets. I have a feeling the low-recoil Stablization Jets will be great. I found an Assault Rifle on the ground last night that had a nice scope with stablization jets, I went on a really good killstreak with that. So I think these weapons will be a big deal.
I'm enjoying this aspect of the game. I just wish I had a better grasp about what to sell, and when best to use certain items. For instance, when I Legendary enemy is spawning, should I rush to a REQ station and call in the best thing I can? I like my current approach but it ain't easy.
I LOVE calling in vehicles but it's frustrating when teammates won't man the turrets which would optimize their use. I'm also not seeing the infinite grenades on the mongoose passenger that was discussed on this forum. I've tried it and it ain't working.

Unless it's been recently patched I and others had confirmed this approximately a week ago; maybe, the type of goose matters... you weren't using a gungoose were you? Also, we were using the mongoose that can be found on the beach when getting dropped off by the pelicans at the beginning of the match on the Warzone map Raid on Apex 7.

Finally put in some quality time into Warzone, thoughts:
1) playing solo is not realizing the game mode's potential. Although still fun, I would very much prefer Arena. Really hope to get a party of friends going in together, the bigger the better.
2) Regarding REQs. Considering the limited time I put in (8 or so games), I am not in a position to give advices. Nonetheless, my thought process for 2 cents worth (most are obvious points I guess):
a) switch to better loadout weapons ASAP (e.g.: pistol -> BR, AR -> SMG(?) ) b) always use "Power Weapons" appropriate for the main objective at the moment (boss takedown, taking base, destroying vehicles, etc) c) upon respawn, use vehicle and/or speed boost to quickly get to the battle front; d) Vehicle: use the ones that I have lots freely as soon as their REQ level is reached (currently: Gungoose, Ghosts); e) At lower ERQ level, prefer "random weapons" because they offer choices at higher unlock levels; f) Take full advantage of REQ stations to refill ammo on loadout weapons and pick up power weapons / vehicles / powerups more appropriate to the current fight;

Take full advantage of REQ stations to refill ammo on loadout weapons I definitely don't do this enough as I'm way too Go, Go, Go, Go when I play and the minute I run out of ammo instead of going to a REQ station even if it's right next to me I'll just make my way to my next objective and hope I run across some sort of weapon to pick up.

Also, I found some lower level "power weapons" are very worth considering than Loadout weapons, examples include: 1) Plasma Pistol: always a solid option, noob combo on other players, EMP the vehicles, etc. 2) Needler: two words - "satisfying kills" 3) Storm Rifle: seems to be more effective than AR in CQC; 4) Carbine: a rapid fire precision weapon that is great in chaotic situations (aka: steal teammates' kills )
