So, I'm a 304 Titan...I've completed the raid twice...got the two worst guns below 305 lvl, got boots twice below 305 and nothing else. I don't get drops above 300 with any amount of consistency even using 3 of coins...finishing bounties does nothing. I have a hard time getting on a fire team now to raid because a lot of my friends are now doing the hard raid and i would not be any help.
I played all day last Sunday (9 hrs). Started the day at 304 and ended the day at 304. I'm not good at pvp.
So, I'm reduced to waiting for a rng to drop me something above 305 to help me advance. I've been 304 for 3 weeks. I like the game but wow how can Destiny thing this system is good. I've basically come to realize there is no reason for me to play seriously because it's literally not up to me if I can advance my character.
Talk me off the ledge...
Btw, long time lurker (MW3), first post.

Come try Halo V, we're having some fun with that. I gave up a mobile game recently that I had been grinding for years. After a month or week of zero progression, I gave up.
If you're not enjoying a Crucible match now and again, you should do the same.

yeah, i play crucible some but i kinda suck at it (so also useless for me to play Trials), i played mostly the daily to get marks but now what do marks get me? Not much...290? Doesn't help. So if marks don't help me advance, and the raid gear sucks what's the point?
I know it sounds like i don't like the game, I do, i stopped playing COD because i liked it so much but this expansion...I don't get why they think we would be alright with not being able to advance. Hell, bounties don't even do anything now...
sorry i'm such a freakin whiner, i just need to switch to BLOPS 3 i guess.

Are you Xbone (good) or PS4 (bad)?
Xbone, sign up for LFG thread on this site. We have a solid group and will help you advance.
PS4... good luck.
P.S. I am also 304 and I still love the game. We are doing Hard Mode. So far, 304 has not been limiting. You should join us.

I think the new light system is superior to anything we have had in the past. - If you get to level 300 (which is not that hard) you can easily do all the end game content there is in the game - If you get to level ~305 you can even complete hard mode raid - If you want to, you can go further with your light level, but it is actually not needed for any content! This is the great part. The die hard people still have something to raid / collect, but the casuals don't actually lose anything. In the last two expansions I have heard allot of complains about how they hate it they are already max level after a month. That is the other side of the playerbase some people don't think about allot I guess. There are allot of players who actually like to grind. - I think too many players are focussed at reaching max light level, but there are only very very small benefits of being above 300 for everything except hard raid (where 310 is more than enough). - Remember vault of glass? Where you could be 29 forever, which would limit your damage output by 40% in the hard raid... The hard raid is 310 up to oryx and limits your damage output (as 304) by something like 15% only. - I am level 306 with my highest character I believe, and there is literely no incentive for me to go any further up. I don't mind, I actually love playing the game because of the social aspects and just the way the game plays. Bungie created a very spoiled/toxic playerbase somehow, probably by increasing rewards every expansion, which has to get a cookie after every single activity they do. (I do not mean to be offensive towards you with this, but it seems the whole community has gone towards a point of "no loot = no fun". The main goal should be to have fun, the second should be to gear up so you can have fun. Tldr, the biggest problem with the new light level, is that allot of players think they are at a huge disadvantage, while they actually are not. You don't have to be light 320, 310 is fine for hard raid, and 300 is fine for literally anything else. This light system allows casuals to do every end game activity really fast, while giving the grinders some (almost arbitrary) number to increase. p.s. you can easily help your friends in hard raid, up to oryx. Oryx is also doable, but it will be a challenge. So I would advice you to ask them if they mind playing the raid up to oryx with you, and once you actually get there, you will probably be 308+ already. Otherwise you can just leave the fireteam there. My clan is very supportive towards eachother, and they don't mind such a thing at all. Another option is to just go into trials. If you at least have some fun doing PvP that is. You will probably be beaten, but don't be negative. Just keep a positive attitude and take every little victory you can get. This is a place where your skill can increase fast if you stay positive and are willing to learn/adapt. You actually do get great rewards from there, even if you don't reach the lighthouse! You can get an armour piece after 5 wins and a weapon after 7. If the armor piece (5 wins) is too far away, you can simply do the bounties, which also rewards a couple of 300+ rewards. Everybody can earn the bounties, there is zero skill involved. Only some positive attitude and 2 hours of your time. Trials is great fun! Communication and staying positive is key in Trials. I have a 1.2 KD I believe and went to the lighthouse three times last weekend. The second run I got carried allot of games, but the other two I did allot of the carrieng. If you are on PS you can hit me up (Europe though, so play times might be hard). PSN: MrQupie. I don't think I can give you a full group of hard raiders very often. But I also LFG allot which is a great way to get you to that 308+ so your friends will play with you again

yeah, if we compare this to CoD, I reached max prestige in MW2 & 3, BLOPS I & II and still played those games a ton after hitting max prestige. It was still a ton of fun to play. This doesn't seem to be happening with Destiny? Is Crucible much less fun than CoD MP? Sounds like it. Or people really need those rewards to keep going. In CoD, the gameplay was the reward.

cakes: Destiny's light system basically demands you to get into the end game content at this point: most importantly Raid on the PvE side and ToO on the PvP side. Both can be super fun if you can find friends to play with together. In this subforum we have LFG threads for both XONE and PS4, and as malgato mentioned: you are in luck if you are on the XONE side, because we can always use more bros for our raid gathering . We are also trying to get something going with Trials, at this point not very optimistic because most bros who are into PvP have either picked up Halo 5 or BLOPS 3 or both.

Well, if you are not having fun. Stop playing, by all means. I think destiny with its combination of PvE and pvp is more fun and brings more broship than cod did for me. Cod is always competing against friendsome for me, even if were in the same team. Because everyone wanted to get killstreaks faster than the other, and there simply was little common goal. It was also a lot more campy. But if you are not having fun. Simply play something else. I am going to have to see how campy this cod is before picking it up. I am somewhat positive this time around though

How the fuck is COD campy when it's an SMG/CQC fest?

A twitch style shooter is bound to be more campy than games with longer TTK. That said, I played the heck out of BLOPS3 beta and the word "campy" never crossed my mind.
SnD is an exception of course, in which camping is a legit strategy, especially when learning the ropes.

The short version? Because killstreak rewards Whilst killstreaks make many people camp, I'd say that COD overall favours CQC. Compare it to other games and I'm sure it's right up there with how much CQC is promoted. Treyarc catered towards the anti-camp ing brigade by forcing movement in Black Ops 2 on Ghost users so legitimate weapon usage for tactical loitering, such as machine guns and sniper rifles, were most hindered by this. And yet they refuse to add Quickdraw on sniper rifles and they add dynamic hipfire spread on shotguns whilst moving without the use of Laser Sight. I guess you could promote movement to the extent of Q3A. That would be fitting considering COD still uses the Quake game engine anyway.

Obviously HCTDM in CoD is ultra-tactical loitering and practically non-skill based, but I wouldn't call CoD campy as a series. That has not been my experience. Some CoDs are more run and gun than others but I play modes that don't foster campy playstyles. KC settled that. And even regular TDM isn't that campy anymore. The bad players camp and you can still easily beat them in skirmishes.

I continue to play because the game intrigues me both visually and gameplay wise. I really liked playing cod for a very long time, probably will try BO3 at some point, but after all the prestiging I didnt feel like the effort i was putting into the game rewards me.
I've always liked the RPG MMO-type style of games but I've grown to like the FPS genre more than anything, the gameplay portion of most of those games cant keep me interested for long enough for me to find it enjoyable.
Destiny is now the loot fest people wanted it to be at launch, you get rewarded somehow for doing just about everything. It is almost impossible to have maxed out on having all optimal items in the game right now, which keeps me playing to an extent. With the datamined items still not featured in the game, I still think bungie has a couple tricks up its sleeves in terms of rewards, though the time gate problem is getting really frustrating.
Its up to you really, personally I dont like the whole continued demand for a reason to play, people are playing call of duty left and right getting rewarded with nothing but an arsenal reset, why cant you play a game endlesly in which you are actually rewarded for your efforts?
I'd say its preference, there are a lot of amazing games coming out right now, I wouldnt limit yourself to anything but the ones you have fun with, then you can come back to destiny when they've released the time gated items and made a new vex raid.
I personally have finals, so I dont really get too choose anything.

I'm still looking forward to doing a lot of stuff in Destiny, mostly PvE stuff though
...I think Blops 3 might absorb the majority of my PvP time.
