Marvel may have the actual knowledge to know otherwise, but it would be great if he posted the why's as to just doing what is still essentially shitposting.

SVG Thermal with a pocket Vesper feels like SND's final form. Jump sniping is crazy good.

Just golded the P-06, oh man what a dirty horrible gun that is, at least on xbone. Chameleon challenge was a real pain but I got there in the end on HC FFA (mostly combine map)
I suppose it forces you focus on your pre-aiming and centering for guns like this, it certainly makes me appreciate the easier guns now. Bring on the Dredge next!

I'm down to the final challenges on the XM-53. Everything else is done. Why does nobody use Sentry's and Guardians when I need to shoot them? I keep loading into halfway through games of domination hoping to load into scorestreak hell like usual, but nooooo. I load into a game my team is winning 180-75. Balls. Put me on the losing team like you used to!! All in all, it was a fun challenge. The guns are pretty well balanced and I enjoyed the grind for the most part. Thanks for making this thread GodMars ! It was the kick in the pants I needed to begin my own journey.

I didn't do the camo stuff at first, just focused on goofing around leveling up fast. But I am sort of trying now, at least during some games . . .and I don't know how people got this done so fast. It is such a grind. I played a bunch of hours last night, till like midnight, and just grinded all that time to get one gun Gold, the HVK. I now have four AR's golded (HVK, M8, Kn, ManOWar) two SMG's (Pharo, VMP) and that's about it :-(. I do have most of the other smg's and AR's with 40-90 headshots though, doing them along the way. At some point, they should all quickly finish.
I'm finding the 100 headshots to be the grinding part. I'm not a great headshot hitter. Once there though, the remaining eight challenges have been pretty easy to get done. Long shots, five attachments, no attachments, five 5-killstreaks, etc... Those go very quick.
The above said, there's still the other guns. Snipers? Only one close to finish. Shotguns? KRM is close to done, and the Brecci has a long way to go. LMG's? Gorgon and Dredge with aaround 80-90 headshots. Getting there slowly but to get all of them? Ugh. And then I guess the other shit needs done too, like pistols and launchers?
I just don't see myself getting there.
What is really frustrating are those specialist challenges. I have all nine of them done, in terms of getting 800 kills with each. Most of them have the next stage done too, with both abilities. It's the gosh darn golly gee whiz final step that is killing me. Like the OutRider's Vision Pulse, getting the two fast kills. I couldn't get a single one all last night. WTF? This feels hopeless at times, waiting on to much luck to take place.
Is there a place where you can find one's KD per gun?

Another part is setting yourself up for them. The vision pulse, for example. Run a HATR. Get the HATR. Go towards their spawn. Get close to the "group". Pop vision pulse, then spray a couple down. That's what worked for me. Yes, you can find the KD per gun in your barracks or whatever it's called. There's a spot that shows your "most deadly gun" as well as most deadly specialist and a few other things. Click the "most deadly gun" one and it'll list all your guns and have stats for them as well.

So I finished Dark Matter last night. I needed one more Cerebrus/Talon kill with my XM-53. After we finished our GBs I stayed on and played pubs... for 2 hours until I shot one down. It was a late night. But worth it. Frustrating as well. I'd lobby shop until I got thrown into a game of Dom midway where my team was getting smoked and the other team had streaks everywhere. The problem was that 9/10 times I was getting thrown in on the winning team. Ridiculous. A couple notes from my own experiences. HC is the WAY to go for headshots. It sucks and I'll never play that god forsaken gamemode again, but it's a life saver in grinding out the headshots. I really wish they'd change it from 100 headshots to like 1k kills or something. I don't care. But I'd be halfway done if I'd stuck to core exclusively. Make a couple classes for each gun you're "working" on. Make one with 6 attachments and one with no attachments. That way during the game you get the 100th headshot, you can switch over and start working on your 50 kills. Don't be afraid to start a new gun after the 100 headshots if you're early in the prestige. Then when all primary gunfighter wildcards are unlocked, go back and do the 6 attachment challenge on a couple different guns. Carry a launcher. Always. I made this mistake and had to "grind" out launchers at the end. That sucked. Big time. Definitely the worst part. A blind eye/cold blooded/engineer class is SUPER helpful for the challenges, FYI. Pistols were fun. HC is a savior. Surprisingly the L-Car was the hardest one for me, even though it's what I use on my AR classes in competitive. The recoil is nuts so headshots were tough. (Optics are good idea on pistols... trust me) So was the knife. It's all about the class with the knife. Sound whoring is GTG. Rushing is fun as well in "noob" lobbies. Boy is the melee inconsistent though. Sometimes I'd slide right through guys seemingly splitting their intestines open only to get shot in the back wondering how they're still alive. My KD with the knife was well over 1. I was surprised. I think when you're forced to retreat from gunfights you find that's how you should play all the time. Except I WANT to challenge that M8 behind cover across the map with my Vesper! Don't do it. Take what you learn from the pistols and knife and apply it to regular play and watch your KD skyrocket. LMGs are really good in this game. Shotguns are fun... especially in HC. On the "non" headshot required shotguns, gung ho is ridiculously good. I had about a 4 KD running with those two. Long barrel makes longshots harder. Window to window on infection and fringe are the absolute best for longshots (IMO). Don't be afraid to shock charge your back and camp those out. I did them WAY quicker that way. Use a thermal on the snipers when doing them and you unlock those challenges as well. Win/win. Lots of XP. All in all, that was a lot of fun. I'm glad I did it. I learned a lot about the guns, the game, and myself as a player. I can pick up ANY gun off the ground and be good with it. Except a launcher. I'm never using one again. Dark Matter looks SO AWESOME. Don't be afraid to give it a go. The grind truly was a good time. (Except launchers. Foxtrot those things.) Whew. On to the Hero outfits, I guess.

flatulentmonkeys, do you aim for the head in HC or do you find that just playing normally leads to more headshots due to the lower health? iw5000, vision pulse is tricky because you only have a second or two after the pulse to get the "tag and bag" medal, which is what you need for the challenge. Not sure if it is a bug but just killing them while they're red isn't enough if it is after that initial short time period. Also if you think the camos are a grind, you also have the hero camos which are unlocked after completing all the camos for all the specialists. 6 kills per weapon in a game or 4 kills per ability in a game. Easy for some weapons and abilities, a nightmarish grind for others. I'm currently halfway through those.

flatulentmonkeys , do you aim for the head in HC or do you find that just playing normally leads to more headshots due to the lower health? I specifically aimed for the head in HC and used a red dot on pretty much every gun. The majority of the guns are OSK to the head in HC. My KD suffered (not that I cared one bit), but I'd rather get 25 kills with 20 headshots in a game than 50 kills with 5-10 headshots. It made the process much quicker.

Was it that much of an increase in HC?

How much of an increase in headshots you'll get from hardcore depends on how reliable your aim is and how much you're willing to sacrifice your K/D. That said, not having to worry about recoil or flinch definitely makes headshot kills easier to get, especially against slow moving or stationary enemies.

For Vision Pulse double kills, you can also use stuns, or just flank and pop it when you come up behind two enemies.
For the Hero challenges, they're difficult, but pretty straightforward. Of course, run Overclock. I thought Glitch kills were going to be tough, but I actually completed it in 4 games. I used a stun, Scavenger, and Danger Close + C4. Tossed one C4 in a good spot when I spawned, then either glitched and detonated it or stunned an enemy and then tossed the other. HIVE kills were the most difficult - I found it best to spray them towards enemy spawn and try to get 2-3 quick kills so you have the chance to get it 3 times in a game.

Was it that much of an increase in HC? It was an exponential increase, for me. Only having to worry about 1 bullet; your first bullet, makes it easy. Especially compared to trying to line up the "killing" bullet on the head in Core. Flinch threw me off so many times where I was hitting the head 2, 3 times then whoops I'm shooting down a UAV with my SMG. In HC, I just worried about that first bullet.
kirbyderby nailed it though. I've got pretty good aim and don't care one bit about my stats. So it worked out perfectly for me.

I don't care much for those stat things either. I just don't like HC that much, sometimes the pace is a bit to slow for my liking. So I'm trying to juggle the 'grind' of getting headshots versus the grind of playing HC.
I want to say my ratio of kills to headshots is like 15 to 1. Maybe a little less. It's not real good. I have trained myself over the years to shoot lower than higher, to deal with dropshotters. So it takes me a while.
That all said, I did get two guns done in the last two nights. Got the HVK30 done Wed night, and then got the ICR done last night. For assault rifles, I just have the Shieva and the other burst weapon left, the XR2 or whatever.

I have to do the HVK and Sheiva headshots. Using HC mainly for longshots because HVK is meh at range and the KN was ass (plus longshots are actually hard to come by in this game). Headshots for me varies. At least two a game of standard TDM, up to around five or six if I'm lucky. I mostly play normal and try to go for headshots when I can.

And there are a lot of idiots who play it (who are also unfortunately on your team too at times) Either way, they'll be tactical loitering out and every map has a few very predictable spots where long shots are a given. Take Hunted. If you angle up looking at the B flag from the A side of the map...look past B, up to the high balcony ledge, it's a Longshot kill if you get someone standing up there. And most games, there's ALWAYS opponents who wander there to shoot. It's very easy to get 2 to 3 kills in one game there.

Looking for Longshots? Use the Varix Sight zoomed out. I don't have trouble with acquisition or anything. Mainly because I'm somehow never far enough to get the medal. That's kind of where I am. I still try to win matches and it's damn near impossible doing solo these days with these randoms I get on the team. Modes like Domination have become insufferable the last few releases. All I have left are those two for longshots anyway. Sheiva is easy, but will patch up the HVK in a few HC rounds. It's mainly about getting lucky on the map vote. Got plenty of time, they still need a lot of headshots. Can't wait for golding them all, then I can just play leisure with the XR-2.

I hear what you are saying. I'm like that too. I just work those games in progress joins pretty hard. They are free matches, you can't get a loss. So when you get them (which you will, if you constantly start new lobbies), just play 'em and douchebag it up, playing for longshots and stuff. Free match!!!

Has nothing to do with acquisition bro, for some reason it shortens the distance of what is considered a long shot. Long shots in any map .

Completed 6 out 7 ARs, Shotguns, Snipers, knife, launchers
Balance wise don't agree with snipers or XR-2/M8A7. Snipers don't agree with the balance choices made but it works.
Finished the headshots for the SMGs which just was small grind. Not a fan of the VMP not sure why. Done the headshots for the pistols which took ages to do.
Overall been fun to do this but does take me ages
