Does anyone know the full information for melee in BO3?
I ask this because everyone knows that melee from behind gives a 1 hit kill, but I have for sure been hit in the front at full health and killed. I've played a lot so far (Prestige Master) and I know this has happened many times to me.
I guess an obvious explanation would be that there was some lag involved that made the game believe the opponent was behind me, but I really don't feel lag that much playing on the PC version, and constantly have 30-50 ping.
Here is my speculation:
You might be able to one shot someone with melee that is reloading. This has happened to me twice that I believed I had full health, the opponent bopped me in the face and one shot killed me. I don't really have a means to test it but it's just a theory.
P.S. Does anyone know how much damage melee does when it doesn't one hit kill?

I think non-lethal melee does like 70 damage. Most guns seem to 1sk after a melee. Also, double meleeing in killcams is weird. It'll show the first melee, but won't show the second. So that's where you might be thinking the ohk melee might be from.

You can test it in a private match.
Put no regen
Equip the Razorwhack (or ICR, both are the slowest firing 30 damage weapons but the razorwhack moves faster), concussions, and fast hands
Melee then shoot once
If it kills then Melee is 70-99. Melee his respawn self then throw a concussion straight at him. That will be 16 damage (15 for the hit + 1 for the actual stun). Then keep on concussioning him without actually direct impacting till he dies. Add everything up and subtract from 100 = Melee damage
If it doesn't kill then it's 50-69. Do the same thing up there besides the respawn part ^

I very much doubt that the melee is only 70 damage, because I have yet to see a scenario where some is melee'd then needs more than 1 bullet to kill. More likely it's 80 or 90.

CONTROVERSIAL OPINION: They should have never removed panic knife ohk.
If they are gonna make it basically useless, just remove it.

CONTROVERSIAL OPINION: They should have never removed Reflex Blade ohk. If they are gonna make it basically useless, just remove it. I hate your opinion, and it is wrong . Reflexing is still very useful, 19 times out of 20 they are not at full health and will die from it anyways. For every other time, bashing them almost seems to stun them, then you pop one bullet in them to finish them off. Very similar to the famous "2-piece" tactic from Gears of War 2. But it means more time is spent getting the one kill, so you can't just teleport around from enemy to enemy being all invincible and shit, and his teammates have a chance to save him while you are doing the bash animation. This is like, at least 100000 times better than the melee from previous CODs. If you want the old knifing, equip a knife. Or use the ripper.

Reasons to never go on GFAQs: 1. I'm considered an expert there. 2. It's GFAQs. I mean, come on man.

I do like the ohk back slap was kept because I rarely run silenced now because the silencer sucks now too and it keeps me off the map if I track someone. Not sure about the 19 out of 20 sex panther stat (60% of the time, everytime), but I know I have died more times from muscle memory use of it than stunning them and killing them.

Testing it myself, I found that using melee with a gun does 95 damage and while using fists it does 80 damage. Damage did not seem to change when: - the receiver was reloading, switching weapons, or holding a grenade
- both players were walking, crouch-walking, or sprinting toward each other
- both players were in the air

So, I had a match happen today that had myself get melee 1 hit killed. I decided to record this one so you guys can maybe give an explanation or just go "WTF?" with me. I got 1st person POV of the killer and 3rd person POV of the person that got killed (me) that shows myself from time of spawning to time of dying, during which I took no damage except the one melee attack to the face.
1st person:
1st person slow motion:
3rd person of person killed:

Does anyone have the "range" on melee, including the combat knife?
Obviously the range isn't absolutely zero, because I have had my character do a very small lunge when I melee within a certain range and because if it was zero the melee would never work.

The max lunge range seems to be about this far away. I don't know if it changes if you're moving, but that would be a lot more time-consuming to figure out. Looks to me like it's around 3 meters, but I'm just guessing based on character height and whatnot.

Has anyone tested melee hits to the head? Might explain some of the random 1HK melee hits from the front while having full HP.
If I recall correctly CoD2 had 1HK melee's to the head with pistols (primary weapons 1HK regardless I believe).

I tried a few times to get headshots while I was testing the damage, but I was never able to get a 1HK unless it was from behind. I also tried hitting at various angles from the sides; nothing changed there either.

Spy from TF2 is notorious for this problem of facestab and sidestab.

Pop the trigger, and punch. Free kill.
