My understanding is they can't make any more Modern Warfare games due to the legal settlement. And, hell yeah I'll take a Ghosts 2. Back on our feet and miles away from Treyarch's shite netcode.

Ghosts had the funniest cliffhanger ending I've ever seen, I can't wait to see what wacky hijinks Rorke gets up to next.

The Ghosts cliffhanger was indeed epic. I think they were going straight into pre-production as soon as Ghosts shipped, I doubt they realized 'it sucked' in time to just scrap it, and to just ignore their cliffhanger is kind of a 'screw you' to people who enjoyed the game. I assume Ghosts 2 is totally happening but maybe not so much on Ghosts 3. Riley the Dog, the stuff in space, yeah it was ok. Better than Blops 3 IMO. Probably behind AW. (speaking in terms of campaign that is). I was about to reference Todd Alderman (one of the multiplayer leads from MW2 era IW) returning plus the three year dev cycle as reason to not write off the game and multiplayer just yet but went to fact check on google and I guess I totally missed where the dude left IW again to go back to Respawn: charlieintel.com/2015/11/17/todd-alderman-left-infinity-ward-after-4-months-back-at-respawn/My god what did he see in those couple of months that sent him running away? And is him back at Respawn making Titanfall 2 even more awesomer?!? Probably! But what the hell did Todd Alderman actually contribute to classic IW COD games anyway? In conclusion. It might be good, it'll probably be bad, and either way it's gonna be Ghosts 2. Remember, Riley is ages faster than the rest of us thanks to "dog years". They can't sit out the Ghosts universe for an entire cycle.

If the maps are good that's all that really matters. They can cut and paste the guns and perks (that's basically what they've been doing this whole time) and if the maps play well, it'll be a good game. It's still up in the air, however, whether whoever is left at IW is capable of making a solid batch of release maps. Map quality was to me the most noticeable difference following the mass exodus from IW in 2011.

Ghosts had the best maps in a title since bo1. I haven't played anything before that, so don't get mad at me for not saying MW2

Ghosts had the best maps in a title since bo1. I haven't played anything before that, so don't get mad at me for not saying MW2 Most of my beef with IW's decrease in map quality was from comparing MW3 maps to MW1 and 2. I didn't play Ghosts enough to develop a well informed opinion other than just generally finding them large and initially confusing.

The jdfromNY guy who leaked the bo3 wall running stuff last year has another leak from the same source supposedly and says there will be wall running and space stuff. Oh boy. Rumer mill gonna mill.

And plenty of corners. Them fucking corners and them fucking advantageous unbeatable spots.

I always thought they did the dog completely wrong. Instead of lunging at you and instantly vaporizing you, it should lock you in place and pull your gun down making you an easy target, but also making it so that a teammate can come save you by shooting the dog. That way, you and your dog protect each other. If it dies, it's cause you fucked up.

That's not how COD killstreaks work. You camp and get your kills, then you press a button and get more free kills and you go WHEEEEEE and dopamine is released into your system. That's just COD design 101. And teammates helping you... c'mon man it's XxYOLOQuickScopaxX and Void_Glitch not Captain Picard and Starfleet's best and brightest!

It's still up in the air, however, whether whoever is left at IW is capable of making a solid batch of release maps. Map quality was to me the most noticeable difference following the mass exodus from IW in 2011. I always wish to play the new games on the old maps these days. That's how bad CoD maps have been for the past several years. IW did it right for the series back in the day. CoD2, CoD4, and MW2 were the gold standards. BO3 movement would be decent on Toujane or Crash. And I don't mean the dumb re-imagined versions of old maps they be coming up with. The problem with Treyarch is that they decided to listen to people who think they're map scholars or some shit that keep piping that three lane crap. Yes, the classic IW maps had that general design, but they were general. Not something they were tied down to. Treyarch makes too many of the boring symmetrical boards. Be creative. A lot of it is the location too. The old IW stuck to war-torn settings. Streets and neighborhoods and the like. Felt more authentic. If they strayed from that, whatever setting looked like it was taken apart by battle. Treyarch started doing closed-off facilities and shit in BO. Streets weren't damaged enough. MW3 only had two classic style maps itself. Bakaara and Fallen. The rest were just the new IW style, not as good as before. Maps were war-torn, but not as fun or friendly to killstreaks. Nowadays, CoD maps feature outlandish places because why not apparently. A dumb beach house, a stupid skate park, factories, you name it. BO2 is the biggest culprit obviously. Ghosts had the best maps in a title since bo1. I haven't played anything before that, so don't get mad at me for not saying MW2 Man, you missed out. I always thought they did the dog completely wrong. Instead of lunging at you and instantly vaporizing you, it should lock you in place and pull your gun down making you an easy target, but also making it so that a teammate can come save you by shooting the dog. That way, you and your dog protect each other. If it dies, it's cause you Foxtroted up. Man, I don't know. My dumb mutt didn't do shit 90% of the time.

If this is true, I don't mind a Ghosts 2, not sure it would have been my favorite choice, but I'm OK with it.

I like how the fact that we have wallrunning now means nearly every map must have a cliff on one or more edges so we can have places to do wallruns and platforming where we fall to our death if we screw it up... heh I don't really mind it that much, but it's damn near every map. Surely they're running out of excuses for big killbrush drops off the map by now.

Have we reached a "new normal?" I.e., every new COD must have wall running and some form of boost jumping or whatever. This will be three consecutive titles with some form of super movement. I wonder if they ever feel they can go back, especially considering the pressure the executive suite puts on the developers to consistently top the prior year's sales figures.

Next thing you know, zombies get normalized in multiplayer.
It's not entirely far-fetched, given what they did with aliens.

This may be the new normal. I was kinda hoping IW would try to be more different rather than more alike the other CoD titles, but I guess that would be a risk. They probably just don't want to be seen to be abandoning it at the same time TF2 comes out and have it snap up everybody that loves wallrunning... not that it won't do it better anyway. I mean they can literally make no change to the parkour from TF1 and it'll already be way, way better.
Personally I hope they tone it down a bit and make it more intuitive, and don't make it such an obvious influence in the maps with obvious wallruns everywhere. Hide them a little. Let the players feel like they actually discovered something rather than having the equivalent of a big neon sign that says WALLRUNTHISBITCHES!

It's not entirely far-fetched, given what they did with aliens. Zombies and aliens are played out. Sasquatches are what's hot right now. Or Yeti, if you will.
