I'm going to focus on Gambit for a bit I think. I want that bygones. I'm getting trashed by it in PVP so much. Every WTF moment is followed by a 'killed by %^^_£VVV_SLAYA_VVV£_^^% bygones'

I did what I said and played Gambit last night with an 'App found group' I'm starting to really like it. It's painful solo but with a group who are communicating, coordinated and driven it's really fun and highly tactical. It's like a game within itself.
Yo dawg, I heard the crybabies on r/DTG like shotguns.

wings Well, now I definitely know what subclass I'm going with next on my hunter...and that I should finish off the quest for Chaperone.
Horror Story bumped my Titan's light up about 10 points...and it's caused my daily/weekly milestone reward drops to be 4-6 points higher on my other characters. That grind was well worth it.
Got my sleeper stimulant yesterday. Jesus it was mind numbing. 60 Lost sector runs for the stupid fu****** resonant stems. In other news.. I'm really enjoying the hunter / sealed ahamkara gloves with the Escalation Protocol Ikelos shottie. - Hunter melee for extra damage (Trench Barrel) plus Threat detector (which is always in effect at shottie ranges) empty the 8 shot load then MELEEE AGAIN for insta reload and another 8 shots with the TB boost.
Lol I still don't have sleeper. Good for you getting that though! I might go for it while grinding Dusk rock blues on mars. (Also still don't have the whisper catalyst...)
I love gambit too. I think nobody should judge too early on gambit, only when you have played around 10 games with a team of 4 you can really appreciate the depth in the game mode. It is very tactical. Next week (in 1 day) it will be double (Tue, Wed, Thur) and triple (Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon?) points for gambit. So if you are still on that bygones grind, next week it will be a lot easier!
I finally got Luna's Howl last week, I love it. It is not quite as OP (in my hands) as some people suggest it to be, but the few triple tap kills you get are so so satisfying. Almost done with my broadsword quest too. In the meanwhile, my nightfall rank is at 12.5, I hope to get to 14 next reset, so I can finally buy that god rolled shotgun from Zavala. There has been a great post on OHK shotgun mechanics on /r/crucibleplaybook btw if any of you still play PvP. Got my first curated rolled weapon last week too! The mindbender, great PvP weapon! Sadly it is in the energy slot. Would be my go to to pair with bygones though.
There is a substantial patch coming on Tuesday as well btw, curious how that is going to play out.

I had three dusk rock blues drop during my farm. One had the most terrible combination of stats and I greased it immediately. I still have two. I did the farm to the left of Anna Bray - it took a long time for me because I couldn't guarantee killing the cave boss and opening the chest in a single run - it normally took a respawn due to the gazillion screaming Thrall. I'll screen shot the remaining two.
As for the luna's grind or that insane pulse grind....

I held on to the Chaperone because the quest rewards get added to the loot pool for exotics once you've earned them but I decided it was too good to go without after I faced some guy being really good with it. Plus, I have a decent rolled Trust that I can use it with. Also, I've always liked Amanda as an NPC. She helps us with our missions occasionally and gets on the front line more often than the rest of the Vanguard combined and she doesn't have a Ghost to bring her back from the dead.
Way of a Thousand Cuts is better at shutting down opponent Supers than Tether, can be used offensively or defensively, and it can even deal with Code of the Commander when you get behind Sentinels.

Nice. I got Two Tailed Fox a few days ago for the daily strike milestone on my Warlock. Then I went on my Titan and did the strikes and got Heart of Inmost Light for the weekly. Below is how I dress my Titan.

On those shotguns, keep both. I can't see all the perks this way. As of this moment shotguns underwent a change. If you like to know more, watch fallout plays video's. The most important thing is to have full choke + some range enhancers, or rifled barrel + all range perks (accurized rounds/light mag AND MW). For the real perks, slideshot/auto loading holster/rampage are all decent, but honestly, most of those perks are not super important but nice to have.
Logged in and played for about an hour for the first time in... 9 months? I had no idea what to do... It's been so long I can't even remember where to find the prompts. Ack.

I did the same as you can see above. Loving it again. So much to do now.
I never played Warmind (and only took one character through Osiris), so starting with the Warmind campaign. We'll see what happens after that. Haven't committed to Forsaken yet, although I'll probably get it.
Have they moved the daily missions and stuff? Can't figure out where any of that stuff is now.
What's the most efficient leveling activity?
Sounds like I shouldn't worry about infusing for a long time now. Any advice on current meta for PVE and PVP?

Daily (Heroic?) missions are in the Vanguard playlist now. Most efficient leveling activity might still be Public Events and doing as many bounties as you can, though just doing the campaign/bounties (especially in Forsaken) might be good enough too.
As for meta: Telesto and Sleeper/Queensbreaker's Bow are more popular lately, otherwise hand cannons/pulse rifles and shotguns for PvP. I would gather that it could be pretty much the same (plus Black Hammer...er, Whisper of the Worm) for PvE.
Played for a couple hours today and went from level 25 to 35, so leveling is pretty fast, I guess. My light level is still shit, but sounds like that will change abruptly when I get to level 50.
Sounds like you’ve got the right idea, Mal. Just keep doing campaign stuff, public events, etc. and you’ll hit 50 fairly quickly. Most of the stuff that used to be milestones on the left side of the director screen have been changed to challenges that can be found in many locations in the director, all with a flashing yellow icon. I think you have to hit level 50 for all of them to show up, but I’m not exactly sure on that given you don’t have Forsaken yet. I definitely recommend getting it once you’re caught up a bit more.
Are there any purple tier weapons I should be looking for while I level up, or is that not worth worrying about until I'm at the next stage of progression?

I can’t swear these are available without the forsaken expansion but, fwiw, these have been my favourites so far. Better devils or The Duke hand cannons Go figure, Bygones, the right side of wrong pulse rifles. Edge transit grenade launcher.
If you get the expansion you can immediately jump a toon to level 30 by the way.
Oh. Of course. Any and ALL of the ikelios weapons from escalation protocol. It’s a big ask but you might get lucky and stumble on a large group who are wrecking bosses.
SGA: you can get all year 1 weapons out of your collection. You will get them 20 light below your current light level, so apart from some favorite weapons you masterworked (probably none since that was added with warmind I think?) you can delete all year 1 weapons in your vault. This also works for exotics, so you don't have to infuse them (keep random rolled armor pieces in your vault though, to infuse once you are max light, as the collection ones are pretty badly rolled)
With that new vault space, you can put all your new year 2 weapons you are currently not using in your vault, so when the day comes and you know what perks and weapons you want, there will be some nice rolls in your vault.
In general though:
Pulses: outlaw + kill clip / rampage (agressive 4 bursts zen moment + killclip/rampage) Add as much stability as you can. Arrow head brake is also a top tier barrel mod. Hand cannons: outlaw + kill clip / rampage Side arms: Kill clip / rampage + outlaw / quickdraw SMG: honestly nobody cares, but probably kill clip / rampage and as much range as possible. Auto rifles: Not in a great place but usable, kill clip/rampage and some range/stability perks Scouts: use a pulse rifle, only viable on 1 or 2 PvP maps, and I can't think of a PvE scenario where they are better than a pulse. Bows: I don't really know, but they are more of a fun weapon, pretty decent but not top tier.
I personally prefer kill clip over rampage on most weapons, but it is personal preference and depends on the weapon.
Snipers: Snap shot and field prep / triple tap (pve) snapshot and opening shot (PvP) Fusions: nobody really cares as long as telesto exists. Shotgun: Ikelos (PvE), seriously, grind it when the right boss is at escalation protocol, in the meanwhile a badlander will do. For PvP there are a lot of youtube guides out there. Full choke + as much range as possible is probably best. Quickdraw/opening shot/rampage/slideshot are nice to have but less important than range and full choke.
Rockets: Cluster and field prep (more ammo) Whisper, sleeper, wardclif and colony are by far the most used heavies though.
Thanks to Supernintendo Chalmers for the Nightfall and powerbountying, I got Doom Fangs and Lord O Wolves. A platter of steamed hams is in order, good sir.
