If I hear a roaming super being popped, I run. I'm not ashamed to admit it... especially the roaming arc supers. I've run away, then killed my chaser a lot of times. I use Arc for all of my energy weapons for PvP. Void only has one roaming super, the other two a Void energy weapon won't help against. All of the Solar supers are roaming, but they are all ranged, and you shouldn't attempt engagement. All of the Arc supers are roaming, and they all lack range, meaning if you put some distance between them and yourself, you can kill them with an Arc weapon. Arc is also probably the most frequently used subclass in PvP, at least in my experience.

Elemental damage matches super type to increase damage (like when a solar energy weapons hurts a solar cabal shield more) in PVP? Why the f$$k didn't you tell me this earlier? Any other secrets you're holding back?

No. You don't have to match the element. Using an energy weapon is more beneficial against roaming Supers than a kinetic weapon. Also, if you use arc, an opponent using Riskrunner might be happy.

It doesn't mention anything about the type of elemental damage though.....

Read what wings said above. Element doesn't matter.

Jup can confirm, doesn't matter which energy weapon type. I advice void for all PvP weapons. (arc can give opponent arc conductor, void can be usefull if you run voidlock with N..... sins helmet, solar has no benefit/drawback) Really splitting hairs there though, unless you run voidwalker regularly.

Trials this weekend is countdown on Eternity. Good map and mode for running predetermined strategies for routing and positioning, then it just comes down to executing correctly. I think this should be easier for us than survival, so I think we've got a decent shot at success.

So, yeah, this is why I don't play PvP in D2.

Ok, who's up for some Trials tonight? I'm sitting on a 5-1 card right now that I'd love to get up to 7 wins for some extra loot. This map really does come down mostly to communication and strategy and I think I've got a pretty solid gameplan to go off of.

After playing with teammates in the trials a week ago, going back to one sided shitfests in quick play is killing my crucible interest. Three of my last four games were against 4 person squads. I’m growing very tired of solo play in this.

Bungie has always had a stance against solo players in Destiny 1. The removal of Rumble, the increase to the time to kill, and the consignment of all OHK weapons to the power slot, are all continuing their stance against solo players. At least with Halo they seemed to promote playing with friends by using features like split screen and the such.

They don't have a stance against solo players, they simply don't care. Their stance is if you have problems with solo que, make friends. And I can actually understand that for a game like Destiny.
(why there is no in game LFG or find friends option on the other hand, is stupid if they take that stance).
Also, free for all needs to return, I think these maps would also work really well for 4-6 player free for all, especially with the current ammo economy.

Honestly, some players wouldn't find it an issue to make friends if there were tools that help facilitate that in-game. PC gamers have picked up on this and console players are like "Errr yeah. We just have to emote at each other. Blame that purple haired woman who got bullied one time while playing Halo." I mean if Bungie are going to kill off split screen you would think they'd encourage players to play together more often. Look at the clan bonuses, they really are not worth bothering with because the rewards are too minor.

I don't think you should be rewarded perse to find friends to play a social game. It is stupid there is no in game stuff to make friends, but one doesn't need to get a reward to make friends, that is stupid (and there actually are rewards, just not directly, as you can't play some activities (effectively) solo).
They are encouraging players to team up. And that is good imho. Finding players to play with is not hard at all.

If I bump into some randoms playing with me in CoD, I can easily send them a message (want to group up?) and away we go. People might be playing PvP for hours. In Destiny, people are typically multitasking with PvP, one of a couple things going on. Take Sunday night. I jumped into the crucible to play a few games to get my Milestone done. After two games, I sent a message out to a group of two I played with, see if I could join them. No answer. Played a third game. Tried another good player, no answer. By this point, I had my five games in and had completed my milestone task. I had to move to on to doing public events.

Yeah PvP might not be the best place to make friends, but I still get friend requests like once per 3/4 hours of playing destiny. I don't think that happened in COD (but I haven't really played a lot of COD in a long time).

This map really does come down mostly to communication and strategy and I think I've got a pretty solid gameplan to go off of. Found out the hard way that jumping on a new map, WHILE doing Trials isn't very easy. That was a brutal performance on my end during those two games. It's tricky as you can't play trials conservatively. Good opponents are moving to certain spots very quickly. There is no hesitation. But if I'm hesitating, not knowing where to go, where the sightlines are, not understanding just how far to push (or little to push)....it's just a recipe for getting mauled. Wasn't also deliberately trying to be obtuse there in that first game, but I didn't know the map. Didn't know what the keyhole and other callouts were. You were getting annoyed, but I had never seen it before. I tried to look on here, at the map you posted right above, memorize it for the second game, but it wasn't enough time. And where did this map come from? Is it new?

The best way to learn a map is to play trials on it though. Start by focusing 1 side of the map, which is easier for countdown.

Yeah first trials card is just a throwaway. If you handle it like that, you will learn fast. Like in your first game, keep sprinting untill you see an enemy. Now you have at least a rough idea how far you can run to get in positions.

I was more annoyed with the fact that my mic was being a piece of shit. Apparently it's dunzo now so I guess I'll be moving over to my headset full time, which is great for the sound quality, but it does get a little uncomfortable when playing for a few hours at a time. Oh well. Also I said to just follow THebb several times, and then you went a totally different direction so I was like WTF...again probably just issues with my mic and stuff not coming through. I didn't realize that you guys couldn't really hear me at all, just thought there was some static or crackling when I spoke. Not a big deal, we'll get 'em next time! I do feel bad for the dude that I invited in though LOL, he walked into a shitshow.
It's not a new map, but it only shows up for Trials or in the competitive playlist. It's not in the rotation for quickplay, so that's probably why you hadn't seen it before. That's one reason I've been asking if we want to try some competitive when we group up, so we can get used to the different initial spawns, bomb locations, heavy ammo locations, etc. instead of going in blind. Ok, not entirely blind, but definitely lacking some critcal, need-to-know information.

Ok, not entirely blind, but definitely lacking some critcal, need-to-know information. No, I didn't hear you. I did at times, but even then it was REALLY low. And there were some really long stretches there where no one was saying anything. The other guy was pretty quiet, although I get that, as he joined in. So yeah, between your mic, the map being brand new, I felt completely lost. I mean that not in a actual way (the map isn't that complicated), but from a trials standpoint. If one gets out of position for even just a second in some of those very long lanes, you are instantly team-shot and dead. I was out of position in almost every game. I could never get a sense of that, compared to the last time we played. I'm up for competitive any time. I've said that. I'm growing tired of solo on quickly
