Because eff you non-dlc owners I'm fine with this. It is the way games work these days. Don't want to buy the new content? Then expect to be slowly left behind. This bothers me far less than the Eververse crap. If the game had better end game content and more fun loot chasing, the effect of leaving people behind would be fine. Because more people would be happy to buy the DLC. Unfortunately, they haven't created much incentive to purchase DLCs, so this may become a bigger problem with each release.

Or just give non-DLC owners an alternative. Bungie likes to structure the content like some MMOs but not put in the effort with the amount of content. And even then, many MMOs don't do lockouts like this anyway.

What wings said.... it's a little early to be locking people out Finally got around to getting my Rat King though... dropped at 335 as well. Now it can sit there in the vault!

Incentivizing the purchase of DLC is the one monetization scheme that seems okay to me. Vanilla purchasers got 4 months of content with their investment. That seems like a reasonable return on investment. In a game that is meant to continually evolve, then purchase of the DLC is pretty critical to keep everyone at the same level. I think everyone should go into games like this with that understanding. There are still plenty of things you can do even if some content locks you out. The reality is that if the loot system were properly implemented, you'd be locked out by not having access to the most current end-game loot. Unfortunately, Bungie fucked that all up with the stupid Eververse end game.

Really, I understand the outrage about the locking away content. But who actually still plays end game content but doesn't have the DLC?
I think that group is incredibly small honestly. We are engaging in a discussion just for the sake of discussion, and while I agree with the general consensus, the actual people impacted by it are probably hard to find.

I think it’s a lot bigger than that. If you’re a casual who is finally ready to do a NF... it’s kinda douchie on the part of Bungo to lock them out.
Maybe it’s meaningless on it’s own, but coupled with all the stupid shit they’ve been doing over the last two months, it’s just another thing. And Bungie just really needs to stop doing these little stupid things and put together a string of weeks where, even if nothing goes right, at least nothing goes obviously wrong.
Even if they don’t eat it... everyone who orders a sundae notices if the cherry on top isn’t there.

But the new DLC content should immediately be part of the rotation; and if you don't have it, then suck it that week. That seems like a fair compromise.

It really is D1 all over again. I would say it's unbelievable, but at this point it's just typical Bungo.

The truely sad sign of how farBungie/D2 has fallen is that in D1, this was shot down by the community as heresay and “lol kotaku lol”
That being said, I’m still playing and having fun... even did a nightfall this week for the 2nd time this D2

The reality is that if the loot system were properly implemented, you'd be locked out by not having access to the most current end-game loot. Unfortunately, Bungie Foxtroted that all up with the stupid Eververse end game. Yeah but this is a game that is sold for a full release price, regular paid for DLC, and the gambling loot boxes. PC users got six weeks by the way. Made me chuckle that the DLC lockouts initially meant they couldn't do the prestige raid from the vanilla base game. Even in Destiny 1, when we had lockouts you only couldn't do the Nightfall if it was the DLC strike. You still could do Vault of Glass without needing The Dark Below. Could there not be a valid point in thinking the way they have structured the DLC lockouts has meant that Eververse is the way it is now? I mean we have exotic ships being sold by Eververse that are pertaining to legendary characters like Saint-14. And basic stuff like Faction Rallies and Iron Banner required to have the DLC (I think you didn't need TDB when IB dropped, could be wrong). Destiny would have been better off being a proper subscription game IMO.

Doesn't surprise me. This is the same company that wanted to be more independent citing the reasons for leaving Microsoft. Perhaps Microsoft breathing down their necks was a good thing? I mean Joe Staten has gone back to working for Microsoft. And him leaving, along with a few other key personnel, like Marty O'Donnell, weren't insigficant. Looking forward to hearing how D3 was rebooted now.

Hotfix notes
Iron Banner Players who do not own Curse of Osiris may once again access Iron Banner when available
Faction Rallies Players who do not own Curse of Osiris may once again pledge to Factions during Faction Rally events

Um

Lol
It just seems like so little for the game to be down for that long. For something that’s not going on live in the game... know what I mean? Plus, I was hoping they’d fix that unlimited nova bomb glitch that’s ruining Mayhem right now.
But what do I know? I’m not a programmer

All I wanted was for Ikora’s icon to stop blinking all the time. I guess they didn’t have time to get to that on their holiday break.

Also, to answer the thread title: No, of course not. Nightfall is bugged and doesn’t grant the clan engram, so they’re apparently going to change it to a different strike for the rest of the week.
