I was looking to determine and compare the effectiveness of hardline with previous versions of this game and since I used information from this site to determine and I am part of this community, I as feeling, well, communal.
On hardline: obviously, the reroll benefit is in the engineer perk so it takes that hit from BO1 but not from MW3. Yet, it still takes a hit from MW3 as it doesn't add the assist as kills bonus. Thus, it is nerfed. However, it does have an interesting trade-off: it is the anti-thesis ot the law of diminishing returns. This is a result to all score streaks getting a 20% bonus to them.
It appears that for the lower killstreaks, it will still give you a killstreak reward approximately one kill faster. Say in a mode like TDM or FFA where a kill=100 points, then a UAV=4 kills but UAV=3 kills with hardline.
Now, this progresses even more as you move into the harder to obtain rewards. Starting at 1200 points (12 kills), you get a 2 kill bonus. It only takes 10 kills to get 1200 points.
At 15 kills (1800 points), it goes up to a 3 kill bonus. However, the Swarm is the ony streak above 1800 and it is 1900 so that is really negated.
This means that hardline is progressively more beneficial based on how high of killstreaks you are going for and is more beneficial for better players rather than those going after lower killstreaks. Interesting...
