Engineer is my least used class and there is a good reason for it,every time I attempt to use it I fail epically. What makes me even more ashamed is when I get killed by a stealthy engineer sneaking around lighting everybody up. So, any tips or anything to help me out?I play on the 360 just so you know. I also play the squad modes a lot if that changes anything.

I would just play it like an assault class. Just be careful and remember that the 9A-91 and the UMP do have smaller clips than the ARs. Be mindful of ammo, don't shoot too long range, and enjoy the silencer. Reload often, either keep moving or hide when you reload. Take out vehicles with the rpg, just try to stay hidden for the first shot, the move around for the second shot so you don't die reloading. Repairing/destroying vehicles can provide some good experience, but both make you more likely to get shot/killed. I love engineer for the rpg, the silencer, and I think recoil is more manageable.
Good luck!

On vehicle heavy maps I roll around with AT mines, whatever smg I like that week, armor, and extra pancakes. Usually don't need extra explosive damage unless you have good engineers rolling around in tanks cautiously. Otherwise I will use Gustav primary with the tracer dart gun and extra explosives/ explosive damage. Learn to adjust for long range rocket drop and you can be effective from the second you spawn.

It was the very first class I unlocked everything with, and for good reason. First of all, honestly, the engineer is not too good on the squad modes. There is what, one vehicle maximum? The engineer is meant for blowing up enemy vehicles and REPAIRING team vehicles. Please do so. Also, in case you didn't know, which a lot of people don't, the repair tool can damage enemy vehicles. DO EET!! As for gun fights? Pick the gun you are best with, for me it is the PP-2000, and go to town. Don't be afraid to take magnum ammo or body armor if you have to.

Mines stay even if you die, so with the extra explosives perk you can have 6 opportunites for cheap kills on the map (Sometimes the enemy insists driving over the same mine placement 4 times).
Look at the damages, there is not best AT weapon overall it all depends what you want to do with it (Vehicle hunting, Heli Hunting, as 40mm Grenade replacement on Noobtube Pass etc.).
Same can be said for the SMGs, AK74, PP2000 and UMP45 are very close so that it boils down to the player and the situation.

If it's a vehicle heavy map, run with the tracer dart and the RPG OR your pistol of preference and the AT. Either way, tactical loitering tanks are easy as pie. Either stick 'em with a tracer or keep your crosshairs on the target with the AT. It's heavily satisfying to pop out, tag a tank with the tracer, then sit back and calmly fire rockets up into the open sky to have them arc back down upon the unlucky drivers. Carl G is for infantry due to its large splash. Keep nearby friendly vehicles in good repair. The repair gun can heal approximately half of the heavy vehicles before it needs to recharge, so pause a second or so to allow it time. Use the vehicles you're repairing as cover (Keep the tank between you and enemy fire. The tank can soak up more than you can.) Rockets bust through walls like a pissed rhino through warm butter, so keep that in mind if you need to take some cover away from an enemy. If you don't have any current objective to accomplish, hole up somewhere safe and tactically advantageous with your SMG. At the start of a match (or when enemy attention is diverted elsewhere) it's a slick (albeit sleazy) tactic to run into the enemy base and place some AT Mines either on the roads leading out of the base or directly in front of any vehicles. Helicopters are the hardest vehicles to hit, but if you can track their line of movement then a tracer dart or well-fired rocket can take one out.

All good tips. But theyre all failing to give you the best tip of all: Carl Gustav. At first, he was a son of a bitch. But now, hes my bro. I have more kills with the CG than any other weapon in the game. I cant even get anymore stars with it, as Ive maxed out the number you can get (2 platinums). Just choose the carl gustav, extra rockets, extra exp dmg, and watch the kills rack up.

So, any tips or anything to help me out?I play on the 360 just so you know. I also play the squad modes a lot if that changes anything. Engineer is my most used class. It's the most deadly against vehicles and vehicles are so powerful in this game, plus it's SMG is decent and silenced, that I do best with it. First of all: Pick classes tactically. Don't pick a class because you think one gives you more kills or you like the gun. Figure out whether the situation requires the role of the particular class, then use it. And for engineers: -Only patrol tight corners (where you can't be sniped or outgunned by an AR) -Use rockets against vehicles (2 AT4s all by themselves or 3 CGs + tracers) -CGs are amazing against infantry, RPGs are mediocre, AT4s aren't even worth trying to use (against infantry). -Use the 6x explosives spec with AT mines, then lay down a mine-field in a zig-zag pattern (so that they're spread out and the whole mine-field doesn't go down at once) at a place where it seems guaranteed for vehicles to come through. Favorite engineers' guns: #1 PP2000 #2 AKS-74U #3 XM8C

Anybody feel as if the launchers are underpowered when it comes to taking out tanks? Because of this I've been using Recon/Assault C4 classes to take out vehicles and I save the engineer class just for messing around with explosion + C4 spam.

Body armour is really good with the engineer, gives you the small edge you need when trying to get an rpg off onto a tank, or in a CQB situation
Weapons of choice: ump .45, pp-2000, ak-74 and G3.
Gadgets of choice: RPG-7 (m2 sucks at anti armour, at4 sucks at Anti-personnel), AT mines.
Pistol: Mp 443. This thing is so good with engineer, works as a great finisher when your smg ammo drains

The Engineer is like Mega Man. He's got the Mega Buster . The ability to use the full power of the Robot Masters (more efficiently than the other classes). And with the help of Rush , he's a super fighting robot! Alone, the Engineer burns bright and quickly. His SMG devastates up close and the RPG is like an explosive sniper rifle. He has all the means to defeat any kind of adversary. He's a powerhouse but that power comes with long rocket reload times and burning SMG ammo rapidly. The Engineer is the ultimate teammate. He's the Assault's best bro. He's the Medic's favorite well of points. In a vehicle heavy map, an Engineer is the backbone of a squad. Infantry focused, he and an Assault are capable of anything. Find Assault bros. You'll be all unstoppable and stuff.

I believe Den said the math works out so letting the tool cool down before overheat is the same as just letting it overheat and continuing afterwards. As for helos, I just take CG because the tracer dart travels at the same speed, so may as well blow it up right away. Of course, this is somewhat different on Isla Inocentes where I have eyes on the enemy helo spawn.

Just got my first platinum with the CG (500 kills instead of 1000 kills with guns).
I just like doing Isla Inocentes (two choppers to blow up) and Valpariso (one chopper). Flying, shooting from, and shooting down choppers is fun.
I use USAS mostly along with G3 sometimes and PP once in a while..
I use the .45 instead of the tracer, although tracer is a nice backup if CG misses the chopper. Using the tracer is also good training for the CG because they have the same speed, and the tracer trail helps you learn how much to lead the chopper by based on the chopper's distance, direction and speed.
There's a middle range to shooting down choppers - if the chopper is close, don't zoom, just fire.
Extra rockets (8 in all) and extra damage.
I use vehicle armor when in a chopper to survive a rocket hit.
Use the CG zoom to spot snipers (tap the back button on XBOX), then go ahead and shoot a rocket at them (rockets do drop a bit at long range).
Use repair tool in bursts (I release quickly every time I get points for repairs). You can repair while inside the chopper in a passenger seat, but you have to find the right spot.
Sometimes I actually prefer riding in the passenger seat of a chopper so I can use the CG (counts as air kills - using mortars from choppers also count as air kills).
If asking for ammo from an assault teammate (tapping back on XBOX) doesn't work, trying shooting them to get their attention.
If you need ammo and run across an assault kit on the ground, equip the assault kit, drop an ammo box, then pick up your engineer kit. Works for health with medic kits too.
