This was posted by Demize on the UK forums when I asked about the Damage boost on consoles: "So, the 25% boost... Yes, it's gone. But why? The 25% boost made a big difference within the 6m minimum damage range. However, the majority of guns have had their min damage range increased 3x to 18m. Some have increased even further. This makes gun damage more consistent at the standard combat range (inside 20m, based on kill range statistics). Essentially, we have applied the 25% damage bonus to each gun individually, and then some, by tripling their range. This makes Magnum rounds more effective at long range and less over powering at close range, resulting in a better balanced game. Stacking the 25% base boost and the Magnum rounds created some Over Powered situations which have been addressed with these changes." forums.electronicarts.co.uk/battlefield-bad-company-2-ng/1089771-new-bfbc2-console-servers-coming-8.htmlThey also say that the changes to console's happen through all new servers and without downloading a patch.

Yeah I read this. From the way he puts it, it seems like a fine call. Guess we'll have to see it in action though. Probably wont be a huge difference, but I fear for engineer sniping with the 9A91 or PP2000

The good thing is that I'll die slightly slower. However, I'll kill slower too. Im not sure if that 25% boost is going to make a major difference. Maybe one - two more bullets

I am pretty happy about it. This was what the damage level in the demo was like and I felt that it worked better for me. It puts more emphasis on aiming and moving rather than who shoots first.

I think he means no one will notice, or that they really won't take it out.

Couldn't agree more. In fact i remember being a little angry that they increased the damage after the demo. I have gotten used to it, but it definitely feels like i get cut down waay too easily moving between cover. Pretty excited about this in general.

Ummm, does this mean that the M14 was essentially shot in the face in usefulness? Didn't it just go from a 2 shot to a three even at point blank with magnum ammo?

Yeah it now is three shots at all ranges with Magnum. It seemed possibly a bit overpowered up close previously. I think it's about ok now.

Well, the brightside is that there will be less deaths from being shot in the buttcheek, also don't forget that the patch will make all semiautomatics and the G3 settle faster from recoil.

well there goes the usefulness of the M14 and M1 Garand. The scope for the M14 takes forever to ADS. I've used shotguns from day one.
