Ok, so I'm going to post this on these forums because you guys seem to be the only intelligent forum on codwaw.
Right now I'm at the start of my 5th prestige, after holding at 4:65 for quite a while. My top 10 weapons look something like this:
1. Arisaka
2. Thompson
3. Type 100
4. MP40
5. Type 99
6. SVT40
7. Gewehr
8. M1A1
9. Tanks
10. PTRS
So I have a pretty good idea of how to play this game with some variety like that, and all of these are 1k kills plus. Now, I have decided to spend my last few prestiges using only a single gun from start to finish. I started today with the MP40 for my 5th prestige. One thing that irks me is that Denkirson once said in a post something along the lines of the MP40 being properly balanced at console damage (50-29). But something just isn't adding up here.
I've looked at the stats and have come to the conclusion that the console mp40 with stopping power is essentially the same thing as the pc mp40 with stopping power. Both increase the ranged 29, allowing a 3 shot kill from any distance. And the additional damage doesn't help the console's base of 50, other than the 1 hit headshot.
So why isn't the MP40 often used in pc? I have heard from a few posts that pc players abuse "typsons" and ppsh, but the 40 is inferior. At the same time, the consoles are plagued with MP40's in the core gameplay. I'd bet anything that you could not find a game without at least two of the guns.
I have been using the 40 lately and I am now up to level 13 at the moment. But I have been using it since level one since on the Xbox you can literally respawn and immediately have a couple MP40's lying next to you (I am not exaggerating this in the slightest). In all of these past games, I have not gone less than positive 15. Every game consists of me getting 20+ kills with a single digit death. And I have been only using the Stopping Power to get an idea of the PC's MP40 gameplay.
So basically, I am wondering
1. Why do so few pc users use this gun when at the same time console users abuse it?
2. How is this gun balanced at 50-29 when I *regularly* best semiauto players at rifle ranges with this gun, and regularly lose to MP40's at range when using rifles myself? How is it balanced when literally 80% + of console populations use it? And how is it balanced if the two developers who post on the official forums have a top 5 that looks like this:
1. MP40 80,000+ kills
2. dogs 8,000
3. betties 4,000
4. frag 3,000
5. artillery 1,500
And they have absolutely no kill at all with any other weapon?
I realize that the typson has a faster rate of fire, but I can't help but see that as a liability. When I try to burts fire these weapons, I tend to lose control. With the MP40, I can regularly kill snipers at any distance with ease. At close range, it is only the difference of 2 shots to 3. I still feel like unless you are playing *perfectly* you will not beat an MP40 with the typson.
Discuss.
