Not sure when the PC got the patch, but now that the L96 and PSG have the same body multipliers, which is your preferred weapon? Same damage, same spread, PSG has a little heavier recoil but also fires faster, L96 takes a fraction of a second longer to reload and has sliiiightly longer raise and drop times. I guess it boils down to whether you prefer semi-automatic or bolt action.

The L96 has 1hk multiplier on the shoulders and I think also in the upper legs; correct me if I'm wrong.

PC still doesn't have the patch. I added it to the chart since it has more than enough confirmation.
WA2000 = L96A1 >= Dragunov > PSG-1
Even with a PSG-1 patch, that order would probably still remain the same.
Both the Dragunov and WA2000 can follow up with a second shot very fast if the first didn't do it, so the lower torso multiplier advantage... isn't much of one.

In practice the PSG seems easier for me. Not as big a one shot kill area as the L96, but noticeably bigger than dragunov and wa2000, and for me the one shot kill is more important than the ability for a follow up shot. (And the slight ease of use over the L96 makes the PSG preferable, even if the OHK area is slightly smaller.)

I don't snipe much, however whenever I'm messing around in combat training I usually always pick between the L96 and PSG-1, the WA2k and Dragunov I guess just don't receive the love that they should. In CoD4, the M21 was used a lot because it had that very easy follow-up shot capability, same with the M21 EBR in MW2. In Blops, no snipers have a super easy followup shot like the guns did in MW2/CoD4, so I think people instantly disregard the Dragunov and WA since they think sheer 1HK power is best. Now that I'm thinking about it, the WA and Dragunov have more potential aka the average player could do better with them most likely because they can fire off a second shot near the first shot easiest. The L96 has no follow-up shot capability, I'm pretty sure by the time you're ready to take another shot your crosshairs are back to normal (Correct me if I'm wrong), and the PSG-1 has a hard time follow-up shotting on target because of recoil. But, since this thread is L96 vs PSG-1, I'd like to claim because of the follow up shot potential, PSG-1 may be better than the L96. HOWEVER, if a player is bad at getting the follow-up PSG shot to hit a target, it would be better to just use the L96 if you can accurately hit them once. I mean really it's down to personal preference anyways. ninjalemonreviews.blogspot.com/

The WA2000 is actually not a bad gun, and is actually really good with an ACOG. I recommend trying it out if anyone gets a chance.
I think the PSG1 is slightly better than the L96, as it's easier to use. I guess it's sort of like a Barrett vs. Intervention/R700 kind of thing.
The Dragunov is a bit of a travesty, IMO. Even though it's a direct copy/paste job from CoD4, it just feels worse. I can't put my finger on it.

I almost always use the Dragunov or WA2000 because if I miss the headshot I can quickly put one more shot into their torso for the kill. Also having less recoil allows me to locate my next target immediately following a kill.

And in case people were too lazy to read my paragraph of doom, I essentially said that this is the reason the WA2000 or Dragunov should be used more often, unless you're insane with the L96 or PSG for some reason ninjalemonreviews.blogspot.com/

Re: wa2000/dragunov vs. PSG. Basically it's a fudge factor. For me, a bigger OHK hitbox provides more room for error than lower recoil for a second shot. To put it another way, I have found that I get more kills with a bigger hitbox for OHK than I will getting that second shot off accurately. I guess it depends on the play style you prefer with sniping.

G11 no attachments.
Okay, but really, I think it's just personal preference. The PSG-1 can get follow up rounds off faster, but the L96A1 has a little more OHK hit zone to make up for it. It isn't like past games where the Barrett was just a slightly better bolt action.
This is coming from an Xbox 360 perspective, so you Wii or PC (PS3 has been patched, right?) guys would probably be better off with the L96A1.

You are basically looking at RoF Vs. Power. Do you want marginally more power for a sgnificantly lower RoF? Or, do you want slightly less power for a much faster RPM?

I prefer the WA2K. I like the Dragunov better than the WA2K, however I both suck with, and outright refuse to use that chevron scope. That ruined the whole gun for me. I still like the ACOG on the Dragunov, but again, the WA2K is better at it. I use ACOG snipers a whole lot more now than in previous titles, since the M14/FAL are unusable.
I'd like the PSG-1 if there was actually a reason to use it. The crosshairs are thicker, which I don't like, and it has no advantages over the WA2K. As much as my bolt-action fetish makes me want to use the L96, I refuse to use such an easy mode gun. No aim required: just shoot an enemy anywhere besides the limbs. Follow up shots don't matter when the gun gives out free kills. If you get a hitmarker with a non-silenced L96, then you really suck at aiming.

Dragunov/L96. L96 for style, Dragunov for silenced and larger ammo reserve.

I've always liked the Dragunov in COD4.
However, when black ops came out.. I just was doing garbage with it.. And it took the longest out of all the sniper rifles to get 75 kills for me. But, I never gave up on it. I was excited to hear that the Wii version would finally be getting the headshot and neck multiplier on sniper rifles, a month later after the HD versions.
II put the silencer on Dragunov 2 weeks ago, when the wii version got the patch (1/25) and I just went to heaven. I never imagined it to be a far better experience than I initially thought.
Its very easy to aim for the head now, because you're motivated for that OOSK. I also seem to be getting more kills in less time w/ the dragunov too. On average w/ silencer, I've been getting close to 80-90% of my kills from headshots, and i get 4-6 headshots a game when I'm playing decent.
The most headshots I've gotten with the dragunov, was last week in an array match. About 8-9 IIRC.

PSG > L96A1 Because of the idle sway.... a little bigger OHK hitbox doesnt make up for more idle sway IMO. That, plus the full auto, and therefore easier follow up shot

Overall, you just sound like a picky newb who has hardly ever played w/ sniper rifles or semi-autos in this game.

Crosshairs give you a better view of the target and are much more intuitive. M14/FAL are unuseable. Anyone who says otherwise has either never used them, or can't fire more than 2 rounds a second. I've "mained" semi-autos in every FPS I've played. The weapon lockout makes the M14 useless, and the FAL is already useless to me for being a worse M14. If a gun that requires 2 hits to kill can lock out after one shot, then it's by definition unuseable. They ruined my favorite weapons with their pathetic attempt at going after modded controllers, yet through lazy coding decided that regular PC players should be punished as well.

That, plus the full auto, and therefore easier follow up shot Pretty much this, I never understood why bolt-actions have more sway than other snipers. Shouldn't they be more accurate? It makes no sense to me. Although an argument can be made that the effective rate of fire between the two is similar due to the PSG-1's recoil, it has less say and thus is less reliant on breath-holding and Scout. I liked the PSG-1 even before the patch, though, so I guess I'm biased.

My top 4 KD weapons are, in the following order, G11, FAL, M14, M16. They are all a little over 2.To put this into perspective the rest of my assault rifles are between 1.7-1.9 (Famas and Aug are only used when I pick them off the ground or friends are playing on my account) and the SMGs are anywhere between 1.1-1.8. PSG is 1.7 and L96 is 1.4 and I don't use the other snipers much. Shotguns and secondaries are around 1.
FAL and M14 are not just usable, they're great. Just don't be close, that's all.

psg1 vs l96 is the exact same debate as intervention vs barrett. btw getting hitmarkers has nothing to do with how good of a shot you are 50% of the time i shoot somebody directly in the torso or head while they are standing still i get a hitmarker, BO hit detection is the biggest problem with sniping

If I can do good with it, anyone can. And I main the Dragunov, AND I use silencer with it.. I have a 85% headshot/kill ratio, so I have more experience with you in that weapon and I know what I'm talking about. And I, and thousands of others use m14 on a regular basis and do good with it. Its far from being unusable. If you have to rely on modded controllers for semi autos, then you truly are a horrible noob, and you shouldn't be playing this game at all. Most people can't even manually shoot at 625 RPM anyway also. Face it. You just suck ass with those weapons, and you're justifying how "unusable" those weapons are through your bad and lack of experiences with them.

Yeah, I started off by saying I suck with chevrons, so what exactly are you trying to prove? I don't like them, and prefer crosshairs, so I don't use the Dragunov without an ACOG. You do good with chevrons, so I'm happy for you. It's just not my cup of tea. And most people who can't fire fast at all is exactly why I say the M14/FAL are unuseable to me. I fire them much faster than the game allows, so they always lock out for me. Even the M14's simple double tap locks out for me after 1 shot. Therefore, the guns are useless in my experience. Just because slow semi-auto players have success, doesn't mean fast players do. My body is instinctively trained to fire quickly, so it's pretty much impossible to force myself into the slow playstyle that allows the M14/FAL to function. And why do you feel the need to be so hostile? Not very bro-like imo.
