i just played a game where i kept asking a guy for ammo (back button, Q?) repeatedly and he wouldn't drop any. so i sent him a message if he knew how to drop ammo, and after some back and forth we found out he never heard my requests. thinking about it i'm not shure if i ever heard an ammo/health request.
long story short: can it be that there is a bug in the ammo/health request system?
i'm on xbox by the way.

nope, he can hear it. people are just retarded and/or unable to distinguish ambient noise from actual audio cues. medics every now and then give me some health eventually, when i shine in their faces with my flashlight long enough or pop a few rounds in their legs. but support guys seem to be notoriously brain damaged. my guess is that every other kid just picks the guy with the totally fat machine gun, slaps a grip and a silencer on there and goes rambo without regard for the actual job of the class.

+ I think if you make a request you turn as a blinking icon on the minimap (cross for "medic needed", an ammo symbol for "ammo needed"

i kept blocking his way, repeatedly pressing the back button while looking directly at him. maybe he didn't hear it, maybe he lied, maybe there is a bug, maybe it got lost in lag. guess i'll have to try it out to see if/how it works and if what i hear sounds familiar, because i'm still not shure if i ever heard the request.
not even the a-91 is as ugly as a machinegun with silencer. well, support seems to be a good allround class, very good infantry killing skills, c4 agains vehicles and unlimited ammo/grenades, what more do you want? (besides fighting vehicles from afar)
edit: i know that little bit about the visual clue, but i didn't ask the guy if he saw it. typing is kind of a lot of work without a keyboard.

This is why I use a flashlight on all my non-silencer guns. When I'm not getting meds or an ammo pack I always wait to make sure they're not just rolling with one of the other kit options (noob tube = no med kit, etc.) and if I find out they're just holding out on me then they get the spotlight on and off and on and off and on and off until I get bored. These people need to find a different game to play.
Oh, and SheWolf is totally spot-on regarding the dumb kid just picking the class with the phat machine gun and slapping a grip and a silencer on it and playing Counter-Strike. 100% sure I have seen that guy a thousand times.

I'm pretty sure the LMG in Counter-Strike sucked and didn't have a silencer but w/e
But yeah, this is my biggest gripe playing as Engi. Even with extra explosives I'll usually run out of rockets before I can find a guy to share his lunchbox. Maybe I should just use C4 or a Mortar instead.
Would the repair tool be sufficiently annoying to friendlies to get their attention, maybe? I don't really like flashlights.

If people don't get that jumping in someone's line of sight means "I need something from you" and connect that to "this person might need an ammo or medkit box" then these people are probably too dumb to take a shit and therefore flashlights or shooting or whatever you can come up with won't help

at least on hardcore shoting the medic works, because he will try to heal himself (mostly). if he doesn't have the medkit equiped you won't be able to request healing anyway.
