You are my bro, bro. I couldn't find any mention of it here. But I have been wondering since the release how some guys manage to kill me straight through the riot shield. Well now I slowed down a few replays into slow motion and watched very carefully. It appears that sniper rifles (not sure about other guns) CAN infact shoot straight through the riot shield. Though the glass will not break out like in survivor mode. I compiled many of the replays onto my Online Vault if you want to watch those my Xbox gamertag is Will Wheatley. Was the riot shield overpowered being invincible in MW2? I didn't think it was, but apparently the "new" InfinityWard thought so. It's too bad we can't check the game sourcecode to actually see what the heck is going on with the riot shield....

I like the idea of high powered snipers countering the riot shield.
Now all we need is to make the riot shield useful in other circumstances...

I'm going to need to see testing done offline before I'm convinced. Latency often causes shit like that; I kill plenty of riot shielders with a Striker just by spraying them down as if they didn't have one, knowing that neither they nor I REALLY know where their hitbox is exactly.

I'm going to need to see testing done offline before I'm convinced. Latency often causes doo-doo like that This. I'm very, very willing to bet that this was entirely due to lag. That said, the riot shield could use some buffs. I mean, what's with the idle animation where you stick your ass out?

Dang, you guys are right. I tried it with myself offline in split screen for about 30 minutes with the .50cal to shoot through it, and I couldn't....
I thought that what we see in "Theatre mode" is what the servers themself saw, which means that if lag was the cause, I would be able to see what actually happened? But in all the replays I watched, the shield does not move, the bullet clearly goes straight through it....

theater is not like it use to be, your view is actually recorded in real time, not like black ops where it was the hosts FPview but when viewing other players, it records what the host saw.

As for player positions, are they from your view, or from the host view?

ah, thats very odd.. but neat
i have to ask.. why couldnt they have first person for the others? even if its not directly recorded, if they have the position and direction of them.. couldnt they simulate the 1st person view?

I wouldn't say Theatre mode accurately records what you saw either. It's basically a big pile of shit in this game. I'll kill a guy with a shotgun, and it will show me shooting 7 feet left of him. Basically, don't ever trust anything you see in theatre.
