USAS and KSG both shoot 9 pellets by default now. The other shotguns do not have extra pellets from Emags anymore. (I tested it in private matches) So, it seems that, after the recent update, shotguns received sort of an... interesting modification. First off, I've good reason to believe that the extended mags glitch is no more; no more 50% pellet boosts. However, do not burn down the IW HQ just yet, as the USAS 12 and the KSG 12 have receieved an interesting buff. The base versions of the guns has had their pellet counts increased to 9 pellets. This means that: The Striker retained its 6 pellets. The AA-12 retained its 8 pellets. The Model 1887 retained its 8 pellets. The SPAS-12 retained its 8 pellets. The USAS 12 now has 9 pellets. The KSG 12 now has 9 pellets. Furthermore: The KSG 12 is now finally a contender for the best pump-action shotgun; with the most pellets, 2nd highest *damage, and huge clip size, it has a fierce rivalry with the Model 1887. The SPAS-12 is now utterly outclassed by the KSG 12. The KSG has a higher *damage, superior damage at drop-off, and retains a higher pellet count and a much higer clip size. The USAS 12 and the Striker are now locked in a heated battle for the best non-pump action shotgun; the Striker fires faster and has a superior clip size, while the USAS has the bonus of 1.5x extra sprint, and a very important 3 pellet advantage over the Striker. The AA-12 was an unfortunate victim of this patch. Sorry, buddy; your niche just vanished. The Striker has receieved a nerf, while allowing the USAS 12 to finally be able to compete with it. *All damage comparisons assume the Damage proficiency.

KThis is the dumbest patch ever. This truly displays how lazy infinity Ward is. The best thing about shotguns was the versatility within the shotguns subgroups. They should have patched pumps to have 12 pellets and longer distance but much higher hipfire spread, and a shotgun hipfire spread once ads, and they should have a bit of a longer ads time. This is because pump actions are like the "quick-scopes" of shotguns. The striker max firerate should be reduced to 300, because having 7/8ths of aa12's firerate but at least 2x the damage and 3x the range is ridiculous. The aa12 should have a major range buff but don't give it a tighter ads spread. It should be treated as a major spray and pray type weapon. Also raise its ammo capacity. The usas should have a firerate boost to at least 180 or 200. What's the point of using an "auto" shotgun when a semi can shoot 3 pellets in the time you shoot 1?
Simply adding pellets to gun was the dumbest implementation to this game. The aa12 and spas becomes useless. So despicable.

This is a pretty lazy way to go about it. They're still underpowered. (exept for the striker)

Great. More pellets. Did they change the damage?
I suppose I should put my "road to gold" on hold and run Striker for the month to up my KDR until the "update" hits the PS3.

Curious. I have to wonder if they messed with the damage/range for any of the shotguns. If they changed the pellets anything's possible.
Time to watch the patch notes like a hawk!

The KSG is now my shotgun of choice. The 18 shell capacity allows me to run an alternative blue perk to SoH.
Now if they would only increase the minimum damage on the USAS from 5 to 10, I'd be sold.

402 just tweeted that ALL of the shotguns bar the Striker where buffed so there's something we're not seeing. More damage/range?

He also said the Striker was somehow nerfed as well. We'll need patch notes if DMG was changed as it's pretty impossible to get exact DMG per pellet in private match testing.

When will this patch come to PC? I need to know when I have to start using the SPAS-12 again (since bowling tweeted ALL shotguns have been buffed)

Yeah he said they all got buffed (aside from the Stryker)... I really hope they got some good buffs...
And what is this "melee jump" fix?

The melee jump fix was if you were say, against a swingset bar on Fallen, and someone was on the other side and you tried to knife lunge the other guy, you'd lunge up the bar and go flying super high in the air. Least I think that's what that is. I've seen juggernauts go flying and die from fall damage from this

I still think that the Shotguns will continue to be a royal mess. What they needed to do is completely remove the Damage and Range Proficiencies and boost the default statistics (through combinations of pellet count, actual damage value, spread, and range changes) for all Shotguns. Prior to the update, the Striker was the only shotgun that had real merit without the damage boosting Proficiencies or Extended Mag Glitch and once those were added it became a very beastly weapon... one could argue it became overpowered. I think they needed to focus on making more shotguns fall into the category of being useful without needing damage boosting proficiencies or some glitch, like the default Striker. Having to grind though weapon levels to make a gun viable is a really stupid game design.

Robert Bowling just said on the machinima's stream that they all got 9 except the striker that got 6 pellets and duel wield got a fire rate nerf

Extended mags do nothing for it besides the obvious effect: that's a de facto nerf. We don't know yet if anything else was done to it.

Nice. The Striker only really needed a lower RoF, and maybe a slight range decrease.
The KSG might be useful now.

I've used all the shotties extensively, and this prestige I maxed the striker (3rd time), SPAS (2nd time), and the USAS (2nd time).
The striker feels slightly worse. Hitmarkers more but that's expected.
The SPAS feels like the an even better old KSG exmags damage. You have to be precise but it 1 hits from unbelievable range.
I haven't seen the USAS 3 hit yet and it feels like it got a range buff like the spas.
I'm thinking about re-leveling the KSG up to 30 again.

Guys, test attachments with Xmags.

Guys, test attachments with Xmags. I'd assume IW learned their lesson. Maybe not, looking at the FMG9s. AND HOW THEY'RE NOT NERFED YET. Also, colorblind people can't magically see stealth bombers anymore.

Just what I expected. The only significant rebalancing that has ever happened in the history of CoD was the mega nerf to the akimbo model 1887s. All the "nerfs" that have happened so far in MW3 have been exactly the same degree as the "nerfs" to the ak-74u and FAMAS in Black Ops.
They are still very imbalanced. The Striker needs a severe fire rate cap reduction. The rest of the shotguns needed real buffs, like increased damage per pellet or longer range.

So it sounds like the shotguns are still crap?
1887 deals 12.5% more damage Spas, USAS, AA12 deal 25% less damage KSG deals the same damage Striker deals 33% less damage
That's not final. That's assuming all have 9 pellets except Striker

I really don't care if the AA-12 got the shaft. You can't get much n00bier than a fully-automatic shotgun.
I was really hoping the Striker's minimum damage would be dropped to 10 or even 5. I mean you get 12 shells to spray by default anyways. But they really need to cap the fire rate. Nothing can compete with a shotgun that sprays 12 or 18 rounds at 352 RPM.
