www.medalofhonor.com/en_USIt was a rumor, but now it's official. Seeing how MoH:W comes out this fall, it means BF4 shouldn't be too far off. How long was it between the "first" MoH and BF3 beta? I don't recall, but it wasn't that long. I don't know, I just don't know. At least it won't be this fall, making it the same as CoD's model. But still, it seems a bit soon to be abandoning BF3; especially since there's no news (or at least nothing I've seen) of BC3. I know we have all those expansions coming, but it seems like they're jumping ship as soon as Endgame is released. I don't like where this is going. I have the bad feeling that BF is going to die just like CoD did for me. Anyway, that's me being negative and paranoid. Any thoughts? On a side note, FrankieOnPC has played the MoH:W alpha, and seems to be keen on it. He even claims that the movement/combat is more fluid, and the sounds are better than BF3. Those are some bold statements to make, but it does have my interest. I still have severe doubts, seeing how the "first" one kind of flopped, and I don't expect there to be a good population/lifespan for it as a result.

I'm not sure on how to feel about this. I knew BF3 wasn't gonna last long, even with the DLC they still plan to pump out, but with a development cycle of 2 years... I doubt we'll see improvement. Things aren't looking good for battlefield :/ I know I won't be buying at launch anyway. Wait a few months and you get a better polished game + you can most likely get some cheap russian key. Y'know, I could sort of appreciate this move if it was a totally new setting *COUGH 2143*, hell, I'd settle for a WW2 game again, since it's been some time since we had a good mainstream one. But modern warfare again? We're milking that shit out like we did with WW2

BF1887: Wild West? That would actually be a pretty interesting idea, but i doubt it would ever happen. I definitely think that Modern crap is boring. Revolvers & lever action shotguns FTW.

Well, there were two years between BC1 and BC2. I don't think the game release timeline is off that much. But on the other hand, announcing it this early seems unusual, and it definitely makes the current game feel...disposable.

I wanted to get 100 jet service stars, but with this announcement it likely won't happen.

Yeah, it isn't much different from normal BF releases (aside from the fact that BF2 -> BF3 was a lot longer), but it still feels bad. If they continue this trend with BF5, then...I don't know if I can take it. There just aren't many online FPSs worth playing anymore.

on another note.. did anyone notice how this (Warfighter) doesn't even look that bad? Looks nowhere near the MP fiasco that was medal of honour 2010 (I've heard the SP of that game was pretty good though)
I'm slightly interested in how it turns out.

though i must say, as sick as i was of ww2 shooters back in their hayday, now i'm just as tired of the modern setting. i never thought i'd ever say that, but i think i might actually like another well made ww2 shooters.
at least we would be back to play against the war mongering invading opressors, instead of playing as one of them. oh snap!

Yeah, 9/11 was a while ago and its gritty dark realism must be tiring. Where are our recession-fuelled escapist fantasy shooters?

MoH Warfighter is getting slammed in the reviews. ok Trying to get a discussion going, as to what the hell happened here? The above prelim thoughts seemed to be positive on this game, and then it suddenly did a 180. Where did this go wrong?

In terms of marketing, this game wasn't as big as the last Medal of Honour. The last games longelivity has probably left its mark. And of course it's not a great time period for release (a month before Call of Duty, its direct competitor). But something was different this time, like EA knew the game they were sending out wasn't ready (they withheld review copies till after release). The beta probably didn't help as well.
Gameplay-wise, the game is just decent parts of battlefield: the visuals (thugh those suck on consoles), the movement, the gunplay (probably) but other than that it's just an arena shooter. The campaign is just a CoD-styled linear corridor shooter in a modern setting but generic, meaning it's pretty terrible.
The last game sold (or shipped) 6 million units which was a hell of a lot, but even at that time the game was obselete. Anyway, it provided little what battlefield or call of duty didn't at that time and it didn't have a lasting appeal. How it sold 6 million? I don't know. Battlefield BC2 wasn't as big as BF3 is, so that's a factor probably. Maybe it sold more due to (negative) exposure in the UK. I honestly don't know
So overall, lack of momentum leading upto release along with an average product resulted into this, and it probably did quite some damage to the IP. i don't think there'll be another MoH in the spirit of the last two games if there's gonna be a game at all.

Here's what I don't get.
Some people really whine about Activision putting out a yearly game. Or, one could say every two years (IW and 3A).....but EA seems to be doing the same thing with this series. 2010 and 2012, it's Medal Of Honor. BF3 in 2011....and then BF4 in 2013?

Yep. That's EAs plan which seems to have failed, pretty much. But everybody didn't like EA anyway. And don't think BF3 didn't get any flak.

I just want a quality FPS to be released with mods. You know, something I can feel good about spending $50-60 on, knowing that I'll be playing it for years. CoD4, while not the best thing ever, is the only FPS that has given me that (and it was $40 for crying out loud). I was hoping BF3 would come close (don't get me wrong, I love the game even with its many faults), but EA's going from the dark side to just plain evil with their CoD style releases and DLC whoring. Let's face it, BF + MoH is becoming the new IW + Treyarch. I'd probably enjoy MoH:W a lot, but I'm just not going to shell out the cash for a new FPS every year. I'll stick with BF3 until BF4 hits, and pray they've ironed out many of Frostbite 2's issues.

MOH should only be 30 dollars for you on pc. not sure about consoles. frostbite 2 is reportedly running better for MOH than BF3, on pc. mods are great, but what im paying for is a game with good multiplayer connectivity with a decent amount of people playing, and anti-cheat measures without having to rely on an admin. MoH:W on PC is $60, it's only half off if you own BF3 premium, and that deal is over on the 8th.

It was retroactive, I got a refund of ~30 dollars a few days ago.
Looking at the Origin sale page for that deal, it says Valid 10/16-11/8, so if anyone wants the game and has BF3 Premium/Premium Edition you should jump on it fast before you forget!
