I dont know if this happens to me since I bought the game at release date on ps3, but with amplify I can hear ds users extremely faint though. On the patch notes it says amplify users will be able to hear footsteps and slides of ds users but on a "scaled down version". Well ... thats what I have been dealing with since forever. Im not sure if this wasnt the case for xbox users. Ooooooooooooooorrrrrr ........... they are going to make ds footsteps fainter than before.

It really didn't need any kind of buff. And the AK-12 kick increase is indeed noticeable, and that's another head scratcher. For once we finally have a competitive AK weapon and then they kick it back down to the lower tier where it apparently belongs. With the way it was, it prevented the ACR SC-2010 from ruling the field, but now we'll probably see the SC-2010 in every other kill cam, with the other half being the MTAR... There's truly no reason to use the AK-12 (let alone the R5 or the new Maverick) over the CZ-805 or SC-2010. In comparison to the CZ-805 it has only a slightly longer 3HK range in exchange for a considerably slower RoF and the same recoil. In comparison to the SC-2010, it has a slightly longer 3HK range and one less BTK at long range in exchange for a significantly slower RoF and way more recoil. It's just outclassed now. IED nerf was appreciated, but not enough. 2 steps forward, 1 step back...

Players who bi tch about Amplify being responsible for their deaths are for the most part, well, bi tches, just like those players who think the act of simply not moving is somehow an unfair tactic... but that said, it was a poor design decision to have Dead Silence countered by Amplify. The only thing stopping pubs from fully devolving into creeping around while listening for footsteps is the Vast Overwhelming Majority, who are too inexperienced to realize what a big deal sound is. The whole point of Dead Silence is to sneak up on people—it'd be like Amplify having a negligible effect on non-DS players' footsteps. DS should absolutely be totally silent against non-Amp users and at the very least able to get within close-range striking distance of Amp users before being heard.

So did they actually improve anything with cheat detection or not? Because I'm not even seeing cheating forums acknowledge anything has changed yet. They might just not care anymore, the player base is pretty low at this point. Peak player count is almost at a quarter of what Blops2 had last year around this time. Also I opened my game for the first time in ages and immediately crashed.

Also, I don't see how a 20th of a second is a "WAY less delay". Is it noticeable, probably (can't say 'cause I'm on PS3), but it's not game changing. Besides, after how they fucked it up with those multipliers, it needed something to make it useable (as it was useless before anyway). And please, tell me how you would nerf the IED. If you say a decrease in explosive radius, then I'll say no.

Frankly I am very happy after this patch, IW did exactly what I needed!
my most used guns (TDM only): MK14/MR28/FAD/LSAT/Bulldog: practically buffed as main / most common / deadly competitors : AK12 and SR : nerfed.
I'd not use AK12 anyway (not enough ammo, low RoF and too much recoil for such a low RoF). Sniper rifles are for me a kind of "lethal equipment", not primary weapons, but tactical loitering snipers are a pain you know where. I do not use IED anymore, I prefer more perks.
My soundwh00ring combo DS/A seems stonger now. Nice ambient music between games added (not 3arc style jolly disco hits).
Gd job IW, my kdr shall rise.

Why nerf the AK? Why? Why? Why? Why IW? The only reason it was nerfed was to make room for the new Maverick AR. It needed to have more recoil than the Maverick because the Mav is a 3-5HK with the same ~600RPM RoF and less range while the AK-12 is a 3-4HK. In reality the Mav and R5 needed to be better. Now all 3 suck.

I just don't understand this philosophy of if a gun is popular, it needs to be nerfed.

How about IW just make every gun suck, and we can finally bury this game.

Eh, I don't think the AK was OP, the nerf is stupid. Plenty of competitive and good ARs that don't crowd each other out (AK, R5, SC, SA, HB).
I can pretty much confirm the Maverick's 2HK in close quarters, played with it quite a bit myself. AR-Maverick's decent. The AR has good CQC (Ameli-ish) but it seems like the damage drops off rather early, so basically it's suited for close to mid-range combat, especially since the fire rate is really slow. I don't think it's a top-tier AR, I don't think, but it's far from bad.
Sniper-Maverick needs Chrome-Lined really bad. Even then, it kicks wayyyy more than a Lynx, so I don't think the Lynx really loses its appeal. Personally I'd take Lynx w/ Thermal + ExMags over a Maverick w/ Variable Zoom + Chrome Barrel.
