My gf and I have been having tons o' fun playing Extinction (never got into zombies for some reason) and I've been looking for other similar experiences. CoD multiplayer is the only thing I've been able to get her to play, and co-op is a nice change of pace since I don't rage in co-op, lol. So I was hoping youz guys could help me out with a couple more titles that have a similar structure.
Requirements
1) Be FPS (gf don't like 3rd person for some reason) 2) Be splitscreen 3) Be PS3 4) Be online
We've played spec ops in the past, but teaming up with a couple of mic-uped randoms online can be quite a bit more entertaining.
Customizable/upgradeable classes like Extinction would be really cool as well, but not a necessity.
From my limited search I've come up with Borderlands, Far Cry, and Resident Evil... but I'm not sure if they meet the requirements.

Payday the Heist. You would have to check if that is split screen though.

Payday the Heist. You would have to check if that is split screen though. It definitely doesn't. FPS Games off the top of my head that have split screen for PS3: Resistance Series (R1 has co-op campaign, R2 has co-op campaign separate from main campaign, and R3 has co-op campaign again) Killzone 3 (Co-op campaign only) FEAR 3 (Co-op campaign) Borderlands 1 and 2 Far Cry 3 (Co-op campaign, no free roam, much less interesting than singleplayer) Rage (Same problem as Far Cry basically) Kind of sucks you're limited to FPS games only. There's great Third Person Splitscreen games such as: Resident Evil 6 Resident Evil 5 Uncharted 3 (has co-op horde and mission mode + split screen competitive) Army of Two series (Kind of Meh in General) Warhawk (Splitscreen online)

Awesome, thanks bro. That will set me in the right direction at least. I guess 3rd person isn't totally out, I just wanted to start with FPS to see if making her play something else was even an option lol. Baby steps.
Do you know out of the games you listed, if any of them are splitscreen and online at the same time? Like me, my girl, and find two randoms? Like Extinction, Zombies.... and Left for Dead I presume?

Dead Space 3 has coop and it's fun as hell. The weapon customization is amazing, too.

Left 4 Dead 2 ranks pretty high on my list that fit that criteria; I'm not entirely sure how well it plays on the console but the PC version was well worth the 5 bucks I threw down.

We ended up with Borderlands 2. We were gonna get BL1 but according to the site you cant local and online co-op at the same time. As expected shes hated the first hour and complained incessantly, and by the third hour she was a total addict, lol. Tonight we're gonna try it online, but so far we're loving it!

Might I also recommend Portal 2 co-op...if you think you can handle arguments followed by a great sense of accomplishment.

All Halo games are great for co-op play. These are the only games my wife and I can play together.
On a side node: even though we have played through them all, for some reason the original Halo is still the one we have the most fun with even today.

What about Fuse or F.E.A.R. 3? I don't know anything really about those two games' quality, but I believe they meet your requirements. Too bad you don't have a 360; otherwise, Halo and L4D titles would be solid considerations.

That Lara Croft game of last months games with gold was also fun. I don't know if it is for PS3 as well though, and it is not really a fps... But it is a fun game to play coop. My gf is to much of a noob to play FPS
