So, what do you guys think about weapon balance?
I think they did it fairly well.
The Carbine seems to be jack of all trades, and the master of allot, so that doesn't seem totally right, but there is hope:
The CAR is pretty good combined with run and gun and counterweight
The R97 is okay on smaller maps, being the best spray and spray gun on short range, although I don't really see the reason to use it over the Carbine or Car at the moment. It should have had the counter-weight attachment
The Longbow sniper is actually pretty good with aog scope, it behaves more like an semi auto AR than a sniper though (2 hk on all ranges, yes please)
Spitfire is not THAT bad with the ACOG attached, and it has its rodeo thing
Shotgun is usable, not really good by any means, but for game modes like hardpoint I can see it being used with good succes. It at least has a niche
the rest is rubish IMHO:
G2A4: <<<< Longbow + aog + stabilizer
Hemlock: give me a brake
Kraber: I was never a really good rail gunr, and I must be honest, I rarely used the weapon, but sniping in this game seems not to be the way to go (Longbow + AOG is no sniping). Might be totally wrong about this weapon though. Slow bullet travel time of amped version is horrible
Smart pistol: Yeah, the interwebs got its rage on for about 2 days, and then realized it is a worthless weapon if you have actually played an FPS before
Now comes the real "problem" IMHO:
suppressors
They are a severe drawback but still very useful when you want to do good. Allot of players are hunting for big red dots on their radar, and when they are on higher ground than you are, they can just pick you off as soon as you open fire (without a suppressor). I hated the suppressor for so long but I keep getting back to it. Not killing a pilot about twice a game because you didn't land the 5th or 6th hit is way better than dying an extra 5 times because you show up on the mini map every time you fire at a grunt IMHO. They actually did a good job on the carbine suppressor IMHO, because I still like to use it without the suppressor from time to time, but the other guns get way to much penalty using suppressor. The SMG's should only need an extra bullet on close OR long range, but not both. Not having counter weight/extended mags AND needing an extra bullet on short AND long range is to much of a drawback in my eyes.
I think that is why the carbine is the most used weapon by far, it is already one of the better choices, but if you want a suppressed gun, it is the best choice by far!
I don't think that it is a problem per se though, as compared to COD, you do get other variation in your load-outs (titan, burn cards, stim vs cloak, etc) and the game is more about moving and shooting each other from unseen angles than 1v1 gunfights. But I would love to pick up another weapon and do as good as with the carbine. (AKA, I would love to have another weapon where the silencer is a viable attachment)
