www.titanfall.com/news/titanfall-companion-app-now-available?sf26260583=1available on iOS, Android, and Windows Phone. Among all the features listed: the "mini-map" one is the most interesting and can be potentially quite useful when playing. I have downloaded the Android one, but can't experiment with the features that require console connectivity. Also, the app is pretty flaky, crashed twice in the 5 minutes I used it.

Has anybody made this app to work? On my Android phone it seems to be completely broken, crashing right after it starts every time.

Can't get it to work on the Android phone, but was able to get it to work on an Android tablet. The app is pretty solid (when it works): 1) Intel section: most info provided are pretty basic, but the "advanced combat tips" is good, offering several pieces of info I was not aware of (see thread denkirson.proboards.com/thread/7181/titanfall-collection-facts for more details); 2) Stats section: you can see your overall personal record as well as last game. To make it work you need to connect the app with your XONE once. After that you can see the info without having to connect to XONE; 3) Mini map: this feature is the most useful of the app, giving you the entire overhead map view instead of just what's near you as the in-game minimap. I still yet to figure out a way to effectively check this mini-map while playing. If I can manage to do that, I think it could be very useful.

Yeah apparently my phone won't even download it. heh This actually kind of annoys me. They can't be arsed to even show me the full map in the pause scree, but if you happen to be playing on XBone, and have an android tablet... THEN you can get a full map. WTF Bliz... er Respawn!
It's made a bit worse by the way pings get pegged to the edge of the minimap with no indication of range. I've many times run off after a pilot or even an evac thinking it was in one place when it was really much farther away and thus some other place completely.
Map knowledge is slowly helping in that case, but still...

Another thought... how secure is this? How hard would it be for hackers to spoof it into thinking they are someone on the enemy team and thus getting full access to the enemy map?

The app must be "connected" to the XONE console in order for the mini-map to work. So I'd say pretty safe. BTW, this video shows what the mini-map is like from the App:
