Can't believe we don't have a thread for this, with the announcement of Beyond Earth and the like. Anyway, Civilization Revolution 2 was announced, comes out 7/2 on iOS, Android "soon to follow". I'm excited about this one, the original was fantastic. www.civilization.com/us/games/civilization-revolution-2/

I loved Revolution 1, too sad to see this won't be coming to Nintendo handhelds like the original, even if I did play it on Xbox.
Civ V is a pretty cool guy.
But I'm far moreso looking forward to Galactic Civilizations III

If ur looking for a game you can hours at a time without getting bored, civs your game. Civ 5 is the one game where you can fulfill your dream of being a fascist shoshone. Comanche riders upgraded to giant death robots with the lightning warfare tenet FTW.

Thats generally my strategy too, just get a load of stealth bombers then rush them with your armor units. With lighting warfare and comanche promotions GDR get insane movement for a ground unit. Gunboat diplomacy makes going autocracy worth it IMO if ur going for diplomacy or domination wins.

I'm always kinda shocked when a Civilization conversation comes up these days and mostly what I see discussed is Civ V. By-and-large, old school Civers like myself loath Civ V and have stuck with IV, yet there's an large group who love V but have never played any of the previous games. Not always, mind you, but there tends to be two distinct camps when it comes to this franchise. I've noticed on forums that's are not Civ-centric it tends to be more of the latter.
For me, I'm rather pleased the developers are doing all they can to assure players that the new game plays nothing like V. We were due for another Alpha Centari game anyway, and it'll help cleanse our palate before bringing us back down to Earth in the games that are sure to follow.

I actually own Civ V and all the expansions and whatnot. I just can't get into it. And count me among those on CivFanatics that still frequents the IV boards.

Yeah thats fine. It is quite different, for better or for worse. Beyond Earth seems to remind me more of Civ V but that may be just because of the hex movement. From all I've read that seems to be the only real holdover. It's supposed to play differently than V.

I would love to get Civ 6 but given that I've owned Civ 5 for years without actually playing it, I'm thinking I'll hold off. I did manage to put solid time into Civ 2-4 before they were obsolete. It's always a little scary opening up Civ, as 20 hours later you'll snap out of it and wonder what the fuck just happened. #LosingTime

My computer whimpered and cried whenever I moved the mouse arrow in the vacinity of Civ5... it might crap a brick of RAM if I thought about purchasing Civ6 near my computer.

I got it...100% legally of course, and I'm enjoying it so far.

Pirating games is still a thing? Anyway that 94 on metacritic is making it awfully tempting. I just need to get past the fact that I'd be completely skipping Civ 5 and all the DLC that I bought. It wouldn't be the first game to never get out of the backlog black hole but still... Also with Gears, Battlefield, and Titanfall all out I can at least wait to see if it gets a modest discount on the next Steam sale.

its great. a few bugs (ways to exploit trading to make ai go all fu cky with their offers. selling units/shit is OP) but if you have any semblance of self control then its still very good for single player also gilgamesh is broken as shit imo Giggitymesh is not OP. A cavalry unit that is immune to anti-cavalry cannot possibly be broken. I mean, they clearly have a limit in how many can be produced- that's why there's zero upkeep. There's no downsides to this unit- that's perfectly balanced IMO.

Still, you can put down loads of those party carts without any real repercussions.
I've heard Frederick is definitely up there with Gilgamesh. It's the probably the Hansa that gets things going. Scythia, on the other hand, would probably be the only other civ that's ludicrously good. Are we just going to ignore how her units can heal from last-hitting units? That's the difference between patiently sieging another civ and completely rolling them over. Give her horses and she's unstoppable.
