After reading the patch notes for update 6, I realized that I'm an idiot. Evidently, Titans show up on the minimap when they dash, which is now being removed. After several days played, I had no idea.
This leads me to a few questions: How exactly did it work? Did the Titans only show up during their dash, or did they continue to show up for some period after the dash? Also, does firing any Titans weapon make you show up on the radar?

I think it is pretty much during the dash. You also show up when firing. I think a dash looked kind of orange whereas firing looked red. I would guess titan ordinance and weapons make you show up though I never tested it, but that seems to be what was going on. I don't think you show up while punching, so the big punch "dash" was the safer method for getting around.
I'm not sure if the dash shows up at all ranges. I've noticed that pilot weapons don't reveal you across an entire map. The map ping distance for firing as a pilot appears to be slightly greater than the distance it takes for the R-101C to drop to minimum damage.

Also note that Titanfall does not have a full view of the minimap, so players can only see the events happening within certain radius.
Managing Titan's visibility on minimap is critical in TvT fights. Titans have a pigeon hole vision with very limited peripheral awareness, making stealth play pretty effective, especially with Stryders.
On Titan movement: Big Punch can be equipped for "dashing" effects, it is unlimited and won't reveal you on the minimap.
